Cool, let us know if it takes care of the issue.
-
I changed all of mine to EXP2, and no longer have the issue on any preset. Give that a try. EXP2 is default for volume, EXP1 is default for Wah.
-
There is a known issue with the volume block controlled by the expression pedal. Sometimes it randomly goes from 100% to 1%. Is it assigned to EXP1 or EXP2?
-
Are you using a volume block controlled by the expression pedal in your preset?

Once you have your dry signal coming into the Helix on USB 7 in, once you add the amp model, the signal is amplified. The dry signal is at the same level as if you were playing your guitar into a blank preset. It's dry.

Question: How to bypass other effects when selecting a new one?
jbuhajla replied to anthony_jr's topic in Helix
Yep, snapshots. It's basically 8 presets within one actual preset. Not only can you turn on/off blocks, but you can adjust parameters from one snapshot to the next (like amp gain, overdrive pedal gain, delay feedback, reverb dwell, etc...). The changes between snapshots is instantaneous as well. -
It's really nice that the Helix isn't permanently bricked when a firmware update gets interrupted. There are other devices (not in the music equipment world) that are permanently bricked when that happens, and you land up just throwing it in the trash. I guess that is why I am so careful updating my Helix...

Yep. What speakers are you thinking of going with? You may not need a power amp.
-
Think of where your "real" amp and cabinet are now in the signal chain. Put your amp model where your preamps are sitting, and put your cabinet/IR at the end. This will simulate what you are currently using. I generally set my signal chain up in a "typical" manor: compression>clean gain>distortion>amp>modulation>delay>reverb>cab/IR>delay>reverb (modulation/delay and reverb in between amp and cab generally in parallel) Once you start going all modeled, you will find the way you route things will be changing all the time.
-
I found the Allure pack to be quite nice for cleans. I matched the IR to the corresponding amp model they paired quite nicely. They are my favorites in terms of free IRs.

That is awesome that you found the issue, and thanks for the update!

The only parameter that is global on the Helix is the global EQ.

Maybe update to firmware 2.12 again. Maybe some data got corrupted during your last update.

I guess I am one of those reverb cork sniffers, lol. I use them mainly for clean ambient sounds with long tails for pedal swells and such (mostly in contemporary Christian worship music). I used to use the TC Electronics Arena Reverb (Hall of Fame with some different factory presets). They are MUCH more refined. Like in the video, the longer you let the reverb trail, the more apparent how "refined" a reverb is. I don't dislike the Helix reverbs, I just look forward to the day that they get a little love. I know that some day, that day will come.

You may want to start a support ticket with Line 6 on that one. That may be a hardware issue.
-
You can use the USB 1/2 connection from your computer to the Helix for playback of your computer.
-
Where do you have the loop in your signal chain, and what other effect blocks do you have in front of or behind it?
-
I can't tell what you are trying to demonstrate in your video.

I think that means that if you are on Snapshot 1 and you tweak a parameter, if you select Snapshot 2 before saving, the parameter you tweaked will revert back to what it was. That means you have to save the preset before selecting another Snapshot. If you have it set to recall, you can tweak a snapshot and select another snapshot and the setting for the previous is retained. You do have to save the preset though before selecting another preset otherwise your snapshot tweaks will not be saved.

Precisely.

This ^. Native is a software replacement for the Helix that you can just pop into your DAW so you don't have to use the physical helix to process your guitars sounds to be recorded or reamped. It has the added benefit of being able to transfer whatever presets you come up with in Native to transfer to your actual Helix, and vice versa.

Monitors and PA speakers will be Full Range, but not necessarily Flat Response. To me the flat response part is not that important, just the full range part. So in my opinion, the extra few hundred dollars is probably not that important.

Thanks for the update. Looking forward to finding out what the solution was.
