  1. There are a few Variax users here, I am sure they will chime in. It only does it when changing tunings on the variax when using a snapshot? What happens when you change tunings using the tuning selector on the guitar, but on the same preset?
  2. This one sounds pretty sexy. I have to find someone with a Warlock I can borrow. Or maybe I'll just wait for it to be added to Variax.
  3. Also note that on Apple products, you do not need to install any drivers. On Windows based products, you do.
  4. That sounds really interesting. I'll have to try that. Did you have them in series?
  5. Just to confirm... Helix on 2.12 and Edit on 2.11? If USB audio connection is solid and you are just dropping connection with Edit, try reinstalling Edit.
  6. I am still waiting on the Helix cup holder. I don't know how many times I have kicked my coffee over almost spilling it on to the Helix. Everything else can wait.
  7. Scroll up to post #9. That one is pretty close.
  8. At least no one has mentioned the tunner.... DOH.
  9. There are a bunch of shortcuts in this guide. http://line6.com/data/6/0a06439c4dbd577d594db0bd0/application/pdf/Helix%20App%20Pilots%20Guide%20-%20Rev%20B%20-%20English%20.pdf
  10. Yeah... trollers have some strange identity issues. It's unfortunate.
  11. I "think" the cabs use less DSP, but not for certain. By the way, this is not an unpopular opinion. The Helix is all about options, and there are a LOT of options. Some use 3rd party IRs only, some use stock cabs only, some use both. 'Erbody is happy.
  12. I think he is referring to the "new" editor that is being released when Native comes out. Perhaps the new editor will have better IR file management tools.
  13. That's a big "AH HA" moment for me. Thanks for that info Phil_M. That explains to me the "apparent" volume changes when going above 50% mix on certain effects.
  14. ...and when it is all said and done, who really cares. If I am going to play a Police cover, I don't give a rip about "nailing his sound. People get hung up about getting a particular sound "exactly" like a recording. It's not going to happen. You even said it yourself, Andy couldn't even replicate that sound again. However, if I load up my Andy Summers preset and start playing, even my grandma will say "Hey, that's Message in a Bottle." Helix and all modelers replicate hardware, and that is all. They don't replicate everything that happened in Recording Studio A in 1978 with everything that was going on inside. So we all just plug in to our Helix, crank it up, and enjoy what we are doing...and they all lived happily ever after.
  15. The tone can be replicated in the Helix, but no one on the plant plays exactly like Andy Summers (or anyone else for that matter). I can get really close on my Tele with a Police preset I have, but it still sounds like me playing Message in a Bottle, not Andy. I saw a Youtube clip of Eric Johnson playing one of Zakk Wylde's guitars on Zakk's rig. You know what it sounded like?.... it sounded like Eric Johnson. Weird...
  16. I back Octoverb all the way off on dwell and have a very small mix to add just a hint of sparkle on the top end. I run it before a cave reverb block in series. I find it to be too overwhelming personally, that's why I just use a hint of it.

    Helix questions

Go to the download page in the Line 6 website. In the drop down menus, choose Helix, All Software, and OS X. The first in the list is a download for 2.12 firmware, scroll down, then right below that the 2.11 Editor software. Scroll a little further down and in the Editor download "box" on the bottom right hand side you will see a button for "Get Download". Download that file and install the editor software. I think after you download the software your Mac should see the Helix.
  18. Well, I guess I am going to have to give these a try too. Those are some of the same things I look for in sound.
  19. I have found myself using the cave reverb for almost everything I have reverb in lately. I found it to be the least harsh and most "natural" sounding to my ears. I have the high cut at 1kHz. For a more "room" reverb sound I turn the mix to about 30% and the decay to 1-2. For longer more ambient sounds I turn the mix to 50% and the decay to about 5 or so. Still can't wait for future releases from Line 6 to see what they do in the reverb world.
  20. It's wireless, but not Bluetooth though. That would be totally unprofessional. I think you can also connect it to Sent/Return 2 and control it with a foot switch.
  21. Now shipping with all 2017 Helix purchases...
  22. Line6Tony just posted today that G10 will now have the 1/4" adapter included for all those that were having issues with pickup configuration non-compatibility.
  23. Yep, that is exactly the point. Our ears recognize that there is an issue. A digital tuner is a tool that gives us a quick visual feedback on the current condition. That visual tool allows us to make a very quick mechanical adjustments on the fly. The quick feedback is especially useful during a live situation so a very fast adjustment can be made. It is not a substitute for a good ear, just an enhancement for making a quick adjustment. This is probably more suitable for a separate thread concerning the multiple philosophies of a tuner. So, I digress. I am still very excited about 2.20 and very much looking forward to it.
