  1. You're missing out. Once you go snap, there's no going back. Just kidding...some players just don't have the need for that functionality. So far ZERO issues with 2.11 and snapshots for me. I use snapshots on 90% of my presets. and those presets are built "per song". The other 10% are templates that I built that I can add snapshots to later.
  2. Interesting, good to know.
  3. I am not sure about that one. I would think leaving them both at instrument level would be fine and there would be no chance of damage. I am not familiar with the input specs. I think you can adjust the volume levels of the send/return separately to tweak it in so you can push your amp appropriately with the send, and volume match the return with the rest of your signal chain within the Helix.
  4. This could be wrong, but I believe the parameters of the snapshot you are entering are being applied to the "trails" signal. It would be the same as reaching down to your stand alone stomp box and turning one of the parameter knobs very quickly to the new parameter value. So the the answer would be both. It comes from the change in a particular parameter. It is especially noticeable on delays when changing the milliseconds time value. What I do sometimes to see what will happen when changing a value is to just let some notes ring out and reach down and tweak the knobs on all the parameters to see what they do. If I find one that sounds glitchy when changing it, I don't change that parameter between snapshots.
  5. Ah, I get it. On reverbs/delays, I change the mix and feedback percentages only between snapshots, and get no glitches. I don't change any other parameters than that. I don't bypass them either, I just change the mix to 0% if I don't want any for that snapshot. I have had scenarios where bypassing the reverb/delay block sounded glitchy. That's why I just leave it on, and just change the mix %.
  6. 2. Click on "Customtone" at the top of the page. You can share presets there.
  7. I think you should be using Send 1/Return 1 not Send 1/Return 2. I could be wrong, but I think you need to use the same send/return paired channel.
  8. When you say "scene" do you mean preset? It is happening when you switch between presets, or are you using snapshots?
  9. Did Line 6 address your issue for the dropouts when you opened up a support ticket?
  10. I think you can make the Helix sound great connected to just about anything. I was messing around the house and connected the Helix into the front end of my Blackstar Studio 20 combo on the clean channel. Just the default Mesa MkIV model with some room reverb, OH Mesa 412 IR, didn't tweak a single parameter. Sounded fantastic cranked up with my Tele w/Seymour Duncan vintage stacks. I couldn't stop playing. I've thrown it in the front end of a few clean tube amps (tweeds, AC30) while running amp/cab models. I was always impressed. That's why I get so confused when someone says they can't get a good sound. I have a hard time getting a "bad" sound. Maybe if I am trying to nail a sound on a particular recording it becomes difficult. Most of what I play is clean-gritty, not high gain so maybe that has something to do with it. I also realize that a "direct" sound is significantly different than a sound through a tube amp, so I don't get all bent out of shape about the hiss/fizz with direct modeled amp sounds. I seem to be rambling now...
  11. Since running 2.11, I have had zero freezes. I used to get them on 2.01/2.10 mostly when connected via USB to mac.
  12. You shouldn't need any drivers for the mac. You just need the editor software.
  13. That should do it, but you have to have the send/return blocks configured for the correct signals.
  14. Are you plugged into your computer through USB when it hangs up?
  15. It doesn't say EVERY ENVIRONMENT though. The power input is a weak point. I have found that it is susceptible to vibration. I wouldn't recommend placing it on top of an amp, especially bass amp because of the vibrations. Some people won't be happy with it. It's impossible to make something that 100% of everyone likes. There are lots of other systems to choose from out there.
  16. I used my new G10 live for the first time at church. Here is a summary: 8 other wireless systems running 2 wifi routers running G10 base on the carpeted floor (little/no vibrations), running into Helix I made sure all other wireless systems and routers were up and running before I docked the G10 to ensure it found a good frequency. Worked flawlessly. Zero dropouts. Zero latency within 50 feet of the unit, including being back stage out of line of sight. When I got beyond 50 feet, there was latency. I went out to 150 feet (line of sight) before it dropped out. Latency was pretty severe at that distance before dropout. I mentioned that the base is on the carpeted floor for a reason. I don't think the mini USB power input lends itself well to being placed on top of a guitar amp, especially bass amp because of the vibrations. I also mentioned that i docked the G10 after all other wireless systems are up so it can find an unused frequency. If we had other G10s being used, I would make sure that we dock them one at a time to ensure proper frequency allocation. I can go just about anywhere in my house with zero latency and zero dropout. Now I can follow wifey around to serenade her. Simple and sounds great. Love it.
  17. I am not an amplifier engineer, but be careful with the resistor idea. A reactive load box by definition is a combination of resistive AND reactive elements. Resistors are just pure resistance measured in ohms. A reactive load is also measured in ohms, but have reactive elements (inductors/capacitors) and resistive elements. Things happening in the reactive world are no longer linear. Using just resistors may damage your equipment. But I say again, I am not an amplifier engineer. Consult your particular equipment's manuals.
  18. My personal preference for a "jazz tone" is Tele/neck PU (tone rolled off to 5-6) using the Marshall JTM45 or the Matchless model with a little room reverb. The JTM45 is a little darker for the more "traditional" tone. Matchless is a little more lively.
  19. Great! To adjust volume you will need to go to Global Settings>Inputs/Outputs> USB 1/2.
  20. Worship Tutorials (as Spikey posted) has a LOT of presets and videos available. It's a great place to get ideas.
  21. Controlling volume of USB 1/2 is only done through global settings, so I am unsure if you would be able to control the volume with the expression pedal. I have never tried to assign a global parameter with the expression. I don't think iPad is MIDI capable.
  22. I use both stock cabs and IRs. Before you buy any, try the free one from Ownhammer and Redwirez. I tried those for a couple of weeks then bought a few. I just tried them for the first time live yesterday and are very happy with them. They sound more bright and full to me and seem to respond to picking articulation more naturally. That's just my feelings on them.
  23. It's probably not your switch. Do a search on "tap tempo" in this forum. It's the way that the firmware is averaging the taps that makes it inconsistent. We are hoping that a future firmware update will make it more accurate. MIDI is your only option for external control .
