There is also the misconception that Line 6 patrols the forums looking for people with issues and that Line 6 will seek you out to fix said issue. This is a useful link for those that think it is the case... http://line6.com/support/forum-86/announcement-78-why-is-line-6-not-responding/

G10 is intended for home/practice use. I can see where the 5VDC micro-usb connection was chosen. 5VDC power supplies are very common. If you have a micro usb cable, you probably already have multiple power supplies that you can plug a USB cable into. In terms of the connector on the base unit itself, it seems to be designed to be sitting stationary and not being unplugged/plugged in all the time. That's why they market it as home/practice use. It's also the bottom of the line in price point guitar wireless system out there. If someone wants something "road worthy" then spend the $500-$2000 for something appropriate. I will modify my power input on the base to suit my needs. The system itself is perfect for my needs already.

At the top of this very website there is a link to "support". Line 6 addresses every single support ticket. Yes, the warrantee is 1 year.

Problem of displaying the TAP function, update bug.

You may want to start a ticket with Line6 on that one. That seems to be an unusual issue. -

Upgrade then restore bundle inserts old factory presets?
jbuhajla replied to chrisvermaak's topic in Helix
Bundle= all setlists including the two factory setlists and the template setlist. Does NOT include global settings and IRs. If you restore a backed up bundle, you are restoring the old factory setlists and the old factory setlist as well as the setlists that you made. Setlist= a group of presets 1a-32d, 128 presets total Preset= a single "patch" I too was a little foggy on the terminology at first. I back up bundles periodically between firmware updates. I also back up individual presets periodically. I only backup setlists and individual presets within each setlist for restoring right before a firmware upgrade. -
The sound/feel will be the same. You will just be missing out on the parameter control and interfacing of the Variax to/from the Helix.
-
Also, make sure you reboot the Helix after importing your setlists so it can rebuild your presets again. If it is still an issue, open up a support ticket with Line 6 and try to contact them directly. They many be able to walk you through it to a resolution.

Lol. Probably not feasible, but someone may be able to figure out something that sounds close. Someone would probably make use of an effect like that, definitely not all.
-
Just another reason for me to get a Variax. I could have a B-bender and G-bender on two separate expression pedals.
-
...also reboot the Helix after doing any file management (changing order of presets, deleting presets, as well as adding presets).
-
...or maybe he'll be the next YouTube sensation in the Helix world by pushing the envelope of capabilities of this fine piece of equipment. Helix is not much fun if you're just playing around with your 4 block Thin Lizzy patches.

You can try using the pitch effect, but you can't isolate the pitch effect to a single string using a normal guitar. You might be able to get creative with Variax alternate tunings and stompswitches to approximate some of the bends.

Click on my user name, and send me a message with your email address. I'll send you a couple of my worship presets that have snapshots set up. I usually run in 4preset/4snapshot mode on the foot switches. I have found that 4 snapshots are plenty for our worship songs. I have a few that have pristine cleans, dirt, heavier overdrive, and ambient snapshots all using one amp model, but varying the effects and parameters.

What expression pedals do you guys use with the Helix?
jbuhajla replied to Rocco_Crocco's topic in Helix
I use a couple of the old plastic Line 6 EXP-1 pedals that I previously used with my M5/13. They work just as well as any $150+ pedal. -
Does anyone have queensryche presets with out IRs for helix
jbuhajla replied to Demonblues's topic in Helix
Do some searches on "artist X's" guitar rig. If you can find what they were using back in the day, it will give you a starting point for building a preset. I did a quick search on Chris DeGarmo, and didn't really find anything though. -
Yep, download the two files on to a stick, then you can install them from there when you get back to the woods. I feel you about the internet. I was stuck with a crappy internet connection in the back woods of Arkansas for a while.

Don't get me wrong, you can get a great sound from the stock cabs. I do have a couple of templates built that sound good. I run two cabs in parallel, two different mics, one with the room reflections cranked, also a 5ms time delay/50% mix (using a reverb 0s delay, 5ms pre delay ) on one of the cabs. Sounds really good. Still doesn't have the response to picking articulation that I like that an IR has though. More of a "feel" thing for me.

If you are looking for some Brad Paisley style cleans/dirt, give the Interstate 66 (Dr Z Route 66) model a try. It's not crystal clean, but has the midrange spanky twang. Use the separate amp and cab models and put your reverb and a tiny bit of delay in between the amp block and the cab block. Sounds great on a Tele.

I've had mine for a few months now, and it seems "new" to me every day. There is an infinite number of combinations of stuff you can do with it. ENJOY!

I was on a Mac. I only plug in via USB when the Helix is fully booted up. I don't let it boot up plugged into USB any more.
