You need a multimeter or preferably an oscilloscope to measure it.

1, No, I just used the module as is, the fuse is built into the IEC socket. I bought some pedal daisy chain cables and cut them up to make flying leads for the outputs. 2, No and no 3, Yes just a plastic box, the power converters are pretty small.

The RS one is still open though.

I did some testing with a 500Hz sine wave into the Guitar Input, pad off, 1M input impedance and a blank patch. It takes 2.6V RMS to turn the input indicator red but it doesn't distort until almost 3V RMS. By comparison, strumming an open E chord on a Strat produces 80mV, a Les Paul 200mV and my only active guitar a Charvel Model 6 produces 500mV. So my highest output guitar only produces 16% of the signal required to clip the input. Something is very strange with your setup but it's not the design of the Helix input. Craig
-
I maintain that, if you clip the input (really make it output all 1's) not just flash a red light then It's distorted and it's not coming back from that. Yes you can use whatever method to filter out the harmonics generated but it's still distorted. Are you certain that your output levels are suitable for whatever your listening on?
-
So if adding the compressor solved the problem then the input wasn't clipping. There must be something else set too high in your patch. Craig

Well there's no need for an effects loop with an amp that's designed to overdrive the power amp only and I've been soldering all my life so a few more fumes won't hurt me. But no you can't just change tube types because it's far more complicated than just plugging different tubes into the sockets. I just fancied building the amp that I wanted and it's turned out great, I don't want to buy a Toneking Imperial II now and I might even sell my Boogie Fillmore! Craig

Actually I built my own for real, much more fun :-)

Instead of swapping IRs, try having them both loaded and enable/disable them or flip the mix parameter from 100 to 0 instead.

I have no experience with the Whammy 4 but you probably need to turn 'Midi PC Send' off in the Helix global settings. Then the Command Centre settings should work. Craig

To follow up my most useless post ever, I think it was E&M ELECTRONIC SERV. LTD BLETCHLEY

I recently had a warranty repair done on some Yamaha speakers and it was done by a company in the Midlands but I can't find the paperwork to tell you who it was. They'd be worth a call if I could remember who they were. I'll let you know if I remember. Craig

Yes, that adds up to over $6600 :-)
-
At a fraction of the cost :-)
-
Sounds like it'd need 16 tubes and an 8 gang volume pot, I've not seen many of those around :-) And 8 output transformers!
-
8 Vinnys in a box? that would be a monster.

Some work in progress photos.

No, the UK/US switch directly follows the tone control in between the two preamp stages. there is no other frequency shaping other than some power amp capacitors that were changed to reduce flub. The idea with the Monarch is that the overdrive comes from the power tubes, of course that would change if you fed a hotter signal into the preamp. The output stage is very similar to the 5E3 but the preamp is different and the PI is completely different, filter caps are maybe 50% bigger.
-
And maybe use a tube drive to emulate the Vinny in front. There isn't a tone stack as such, it's just a simple capacitor and pot which rolls off high frequencies similar to a 5E3 Deluxe. The UK/US switch is more complicated, it cuts treble and increases bass at the same time, it's very clever. Craig

I'm rather partial to the Monarch, in fact I'm part way through building myself a clone, For you though I'd probably start with the Voltage Queen. Craig
-
Just a thought, try and get it working through just one of the Strymons first, it cuts out all the midi thru variables. Craig
-
Yes that's how I did it but remember that only In1 on the merger takes power so connect that to the stomp and I'm not sure that the Strymons have midi thru enabled by default. Craig
-
Version 3.1 introduced a 'Wait Time' parameter to midi commands sent from Command Centre but because this didn't exist in older presets then it didn't always get updated nicely. Have a look at your midi commands in Command Centre and tweak the wait time parameter. Craig
-
That is interesting and not something I've heard of before, where is your home county and what is the mains voltage there? With regards to touring it, living in the UK when I see American bands playing here they often appear to be using 240/110V transformers whether their gear can use 240V or not so I don't think you're losing out there. It's a fact that most switch mode power supply failures occur at startup, I've had plenty fail over the years but never whilst on and working. Saying that, I turn my stuff off when I'm not using it. Craig
