  1. The phrase "free beer tomorrow" comes to mind
  2. Maybe this problem is unique to the 89's? Firmware? Bridge pickup too high? I don't know... The models on my 59 were solid right out of the box (and tinkering has made them even better) I can, and have, had both my strat and 59 in the spank model running through my helix at the same time and the sound is remarkably similar (aside from the nuances piezos add) *Standard disclaimer, I've been playing for 20+ years and, yes, my ears work just fine lol
  3. Here ya go.. 50ft came to about $65 when I added it to the cart https://btpa.com/FAS11-XX.html
  4. $130?!? my $30 L6 vdi works just fine. lol I've looked into making my own, but it seems the only way to make it cost effective would be to buy in bulk...
  5. Just like a lot of people have different patches for single coil vs humbuckers, tailored to a specific guitars output. I built my presets using a jtv59 and it sounds fantastic to me
  6. Yt comment wars lol While sometimes funny to read, they rarely ever have any value I'd wager that half don't own any of the equipment they're discussing and the other half are still in grade school Like many have already pointed out it's the artist, not the artists tools, that make the difference
  7. I've been using IR's in my DAW for a few years now and I figured I'd be using them with my helix too.. But in the short time that I've had it now I've mostly been using the cabs and tweaking to my liking.. I find that you get waaay more control than just flipping through an ir library
  8. I picked one up for mine as well.. very glad I did. Does anyone know what the hell the 2 elastic loop things are for? I got nothin

    Helix Talkbox

I have a banshee running from an effects loop and back into the xlr input, but if a future update brings something "close enough" I'd happily leave it at home
  10. A closer comparison would be the dbr10
  11. Bought mine through Sweetwater when I was buying other stuff
  12. I've wondered this myself... Personally I bought the hardware first and the vst second, but I have a lot of friends that are engineers first and guitar players second... They are interested in helix as a vst, but for $400 they have plenty of vst modelers that work just fine...
  13. If you or a buddy has a pa system just run it through that.. should give you an idea
  14. and you'd lose that bet. I have a dxr10 and a 4x12 I gigged with for 15+ years (albeit not the same head in op) While it is fascinating to watch, i admit, the dxr can hang in spades
  15. yes, 4x12 was shorthand for the whole rig lol What I was getting at from the get go of this thread.... if this band is playing with no pa help (aside from vox) then a single dxr, with the marshall, with the bass rig are all limited to the acoustic drum volume. A single dxr on a pole will cut through (especially using the aforementioned alto as a wedge) ... if the drums are miced, then run the helix foh as well.. everything else is overkill imho now saying that... my 21 yr old self would disagree ;)
  16. I'm having a blast with Helix as well! After 15+ years of a 4x12 rig with limited flexibility, having almost endless possibilities at my fingertips is intoxicating! I've spent many years fiddling with modelers in a vst setting so making the switch to helix has been somewhat familiar, it's just learning all these amps I've never used in person before that's the (fun) challenge
  17. If the 4x12 is drowning out 2 dxr's then its drowning out the drummer as well
  18. A single dxr10 will stand up to that 4x12 volume wise Or get 2.. one behind on a pole, one in front as a wedge
  19. I see. As long as the guitar sits in the -12 and under zone like the manual suggests then you'll be close enough I'd assume If you record the direct guitar though the helix usb, however, I would think it would match perfectly, no?

  21. There is a section in the helix native manual that explains exactly what you're asking.
  22. It's been working fine in reaper for me on a 12 yr old amd w/ 4 gigs of ram
  23. the manual mode in reatune works awesome for little tweaks here and there
