  1. You need to turn off any amp modeling on the Helix LT if you're going straight into an amp. If you leave it on, you're essentially sending one amp into another so it will sound terrible and harsh. Does this amp have an effects loop? I used to run my Helix Floor straight into my Marshall combo amp for effects only, and it sounded great. Then I tried for 4 cable method (4CM) which uses the amp's effects loop. That sounded even better!
  2. Marshall Silver Jubilee - the mini 2525H, 2525C combo, or 2555/2555X! Joe Bonamassa tone!
  3. Hi Willy, you can download the Line 6 Updater application here: https://line6.com/software/?submit=Show&name=Line+6+Updater. You will need to plug your receiver into your computer via USB. Hope this helps you.
  4. Same here. I sit in front my MacBook Pro listen to music being routed through the Helix via USB. You're right. The sound IS incredible!
  5. The Helix is so bad@ss! It's hard to imagine it getting any better. The only things I would like to see in a future version is a built-in Relay G70 and perhaps an iOS app for minor tweaks to patches - although this would be difficult on a phone or tablet. I already have a G70 and two Mission Engineering expression pedals. I am fully dedicated to the Helix!
  6. Thanks again, Phil_M! That's exactly what I was looking for. The Line 6 website doesn't show anything specific for the G70, but this is what I need. Thanks for educating me! I'll get one ordered right now.
  7. Thank you, Phil. I was wondering why Line 6 doesn’t sell something on the website other than the USB charger that comes with the unit. I assume any peadboard power source will be sufficient? Or the ones for the BOSS pedals? Thanks again.
  8. If you're using an amp that has an effects loop, you want to try the 4CM. OMG does it sound so much better than running everything in front of the amp. Like the others have said, there are tons of videos on YouTube demonstrating the 4CM method. There's even a 4CM example template preloaded into the Helix. Here's how to plug everything in: cable #1 guitar to Helix cable #2 Helix FX send loop 1 (1/2) to amp main input (top left of the Helix Send/Returns) cable #3 Amp FX loop send to Helix fx loop return 2 (1/2) (top 2nd from left of the Helix Send/Returns) cable #4 Helix 1/4" left (mono) to amp's fx loop return Use the Mono connections on all parts of your amp using this method. You can also use a TSR cable to have Helix control your amp's channels or other foot switch capabilities. Hope this helps you!
  9. I might as well refund your ticket price right now, :)
  10. Mine was loose in the box when I got my Helix too. I thought it fit where the expression pedal bolt is located to keep dust out of the pedal. That's where mine is now. :)
  11. cable #1 guitar to Helix cable #2 Helix FX send loop 1 (1/2) to amp main input (top left of the Helix Send/Returns) cable #3 Amp FX loop send to Helix fx loop return 2 (1/2) (top 2nd from left of the Helix Send/Returns) cable #4 Helix 1/4" left (mono) to amp's fx loop return Use the Mono connections on all parts of your amp using this method. You can also use a TSR cable to have Helix control your amp's two chorus and reverb foot switches (tip/ring/sleeve)
  12. Surprisingly enough there are pads already on the bottom on these studio monitors. I may just leave them here on my desk. The base of these are over 12x12 which is bigger than the base plates I have seen on almost all monitor stands (and these are over 30l bs. each). Plus they are at the perfect listening height!
  13. Windows XP stopped being supported by Microsoft on April 8, 2014; however, you will need to install Windows XP SP2 to support USB 2.0 which is what the Helix requires. This is also assuming that you have USB 2.0 ports on your computer. If you only have USB 1.1 certified USB ports on your computer (or lower), it will not work. In other news, I work in security at AIG and I can tell you that you need to upgrade to a more current operating system that is still being support for security and vulnerability patches. Using a computer with Windows XP is putting your computer and network at risk!
  14. I figured as much, but I thought I should ask anyway just to be sure. Thank you, jnysen!
  15. Hello, I have owned my Helix for about 3 months and I absolutely love it! I also own a Relay G70 wireless system and it has been working great along with my Helix. The Helix owner's manual indicates that you should use the "AUX IN" jack for any guitar equipped with an active pickup like a Fender Stratocaster Eric Clapton signature model. My question is does it really matter what jack the Relay G70 plugs into if I am using a guitar with an active pickup? The Relay G70 also serves an ABY switcher and direct box, so I do have multiple output options to work with if needed. Just curious if it matters or not. I certainly don't want to damage the Helix. It would be nice to not worry about this when I switch to different guitars. Thank you!
  16. Hello, I have a Relay G70 wireless setup and I would like to know what other power supply option I have other than the micro-USB cable and transformer that come with it. Even during home use, it's not uncommon for the micro-USB cable to come out of the G70 hindering it useless. I see that there is a 9VDC jack on the back. It is safe to assume that I can use any 9VDC charger that fits? Thank you.
  17. Looks like I'll be needing a bigger desk! Just to put things in perspective, those are (2) Apple 24" Cinema Displays in the middle of the desk! Thanks to everyone that responded with my beginner pro audio questions. I couldn't be happier!
  18. OMG, these Gibson Les Paul 8 Reference Monitors sound as amazing hooked up to my Helix as they are beautiful! I've never owned FRFR speakers before. This takes audio to another dimension! I decided to go with the XLR cables so I can leave my 4CM setup at the same time.
  19. That looks like a proprietary Marshall connection. The Ext Amp output on the Helix uses a TS or TRS cable to control channel switching, reverb, etc. You have to use a TRS cable and configure the Helix appropriately to use it for dual functions. It doesn't look like you will be able to do that with your amp.
  20. Thank you, TB413! That is immensely helpful. I certainly appreciate you explaining it.
  21. I'm the one with the Jubilee. Not sure about daveyball's amp. I can say that both of my Marshall amps (90s JTM 313) and Mini Jubilee worked with a TS cable even though the Marshall foot switch boxes were different model numbers, but looked exactly the same. I don't know anything about daveyball's amp.
  22. I have two amps with two channels each. I'm using the Ext Amp out and an assigned button to switch channels on my first amp. I am ordering two Mission Engineering pedals that have built-in foot switches even though the Helix can't use them. My plan is to use the foot switch out on one of those pedals to change the channel on my second amp. Both of my amps use a TS cable to change channels, so it should work. I'll know in a few days.
  23. Well I wasn't sure since the XLR and TRS connections are shared. It says "Balanced" on the back, so I wasn't sure. I am definitely a greenhorn on this stuff!
  24. Thank you. I'm only going 10', so TRS cables it is...
