  1. Have you tried a reboot? Sometimes USB gets flaky and a reboot helps. I would also try to connect it to a different PC and see if it lights up. If not, it may be broken. Like all consumer grade electronics devices, the UX2 will eventually die.
  2. Unfortunately, the PF 2.5 patches do not transfer to any of the Line 6 hardware based gear. This is because of PF 2.5's flexible effects chain routing which the POD's (2.0, XT & X3) do not have. POD HD has a flexible signal chain, but it uses different modeling tech than PF does, so it is not compatible either. One thought is to pick up a used POD X3 and remake your patches to work with it using the free Gearbox app. X3 and PF 2.5 have the same modeling tech and models. You will not be able to use your existing patches directly though, as the X3 has fixed effects routing Sorry.
  3. If you've got a decent selection of plug-ins for your DAW, you really do not need to record anything but the dry signal, and then add effects like compression, EQ, reverb, etc. as post processing. I've used PF's vocal pre-amps in the past for recording acoustic guitar with decent results, but as my mixing skills get better, I find I prefer to record dry and add processing on the back end. The exception is if your MIC or guitar isn't hot enough to give enough recorded dB level. In that case, boosting the signal with the +18 dB button on the PF mixer might be in order. Some folks like to record both the processed and unprocessed sends simultaneously on separate tracks, which I'll usually do for recording electric guitar.
  4. As Zap pointed out, the iLok version is a standard, or everything choice. You cannot use model packs. You also cannot use the iLok version in "stand alone" mode. It can only be used as a VST plug-in. I tend to use the stand-alone for auditioning tones in real-time. That said, if your primary use case is as a plug-in from within your DAW for re-amping, and portability is a concern, then the iLok version might be right for you. One last question, what DAW software will you be using it with?
  5. The line 6 folks are notoriously bad at recording settings. For example, we've often asked for the settings used for their demo recordings, only to find out that no one bothered to capture them. lol What you say about limited tones has some merit on the surface, but in actual practice, most guitarists end up limiting their amp and effects selection to a favored few that match their taste and style. Good luck with that spreadsheet, but I think you'll find that 95% of your work is a waste of effort. As much as you complain, you won't get it from Line 6. With the amount of time you've spent complaining and responding to suggestions, you could have been half done. Find the few that you'll actually use and tailor them to your tastes.
  6. Hehe. I'm lazy and cheap. I just use a 6' XLR mic cable. Works fine.
  7. Yes. It suits my needs for on stage quick tune-up. No problems.
  8. There are 256 factory presets on the POD HD, although Bank 1 is the "best" of banks 2 through 4. How would you suggest they be organized? By preset name? By amp used? By dominant FX used? What if there are 2 amp chains? Would you list all of the FX for each preset (up to 8)? What format; Excel, PDF? By the time Line 6 was done, this wouldn't just be a quick reference chart; it would be a full-on reference manual. And for what, crappy presets that no one seriously uses? Oh, and by the way, Line 6 usually changes the presets with each major FW change to show off the new features, so a new tome would be required. Might I suggest that you spend an hour or two, go into HD Edit, find a half dozen or so that you like and make note of them. While you're in there, you might also tweak those half dozen to your liking so that they are immediately useable, rather than having to tweak them every time. Good luck in your pursuit.
  9. Get rid of ASIO4All and use the Line 6 ASIO driver.
  10. If I recall correctly, you cannot use the UX2 as a sound device for stereo mix. Sorry.
  11. Sounds like a USB issue. Check out this document http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/computer-based-recording/computer-audio-set-up-and-troubleshooting/usb-audio-troubleshooting-r443
  12. Lots of points of view here. The solution I use is to create tones on my HD500 using full models for "bedroom" use. I amplify through a set of desktop monitors and I'm able to get great tone for "playing along" I translate the same settings to the Pre models for use in jam/gig situations with my DT25 and L6Link. No, they don't sound exactly the same, but they are close enough after some minor volume and EQ tweaking.
  13. Oehman & Metalchef . . . How are you connecting the HD500 to your DT's. Are you using L6Link?
  14. Make sure you are using the latest versions of Line 6 software and the latest drivers. If you are installing from the disk you'll have problems. Get new versions from here http://line6.com/software. Start with Line 6 Monkey 1.65. You can update the rest of your software from there. Also, you might want to use POD Farm 1.12 instead of Gearbox. 1.12 is a free upgrade and is much better. Do not install Pod Farm 2.55 unless you are prepared to PAY for the upgrade.
  15. I just checked the latest version of Monkey (1.65), and the ability to update firmware from a file is still there. You have to make sure that "Flash Memory" is highlighted in order to see it. As far as finding the flash file, you just have to look in the software downloads section http://line6/com/software Just sayin ;) Glad your problem got worked out.
  16. YOu should de-authorize it and remove the add-ons from it before transferring it. Your add-ons will stay with your account.
  17. In POD Farm, use the input select drop down on the middle left of the page (next to the mute button. In POD Farm 2 you'll find it on the Mixer page in the "Input" drop down. I would also second silverhead's advise. This is not as easy as plugging into an amp and turning some knobs. Reading the manual would be an excellent idea.
  18. Thanks for the comment Dellers. So if Line 6 doesn't upgrade their solution, what would you see as an alternative? Personally, I don't believe swapping between PT10 and PT11 is a long term solution.
  19. I just installed PF 2.55 on my Mac and you are correct. It does not seem to install both the 64 bit and 32 bit versions as it does in Windows
  20. Not sure where they install on a Mac, but in Windows the 64bit files get installed in a separate directory. You might want to try to find them and point Cubase at them
  21. Thanks Mike . . . So does that mean you would like to see an HD version of POD Farm?
  22. I ordered the CNB PDC-410E hard case from Rondo Music several years ago for my then X3L. I still use it for my HD500 and it's still going strong. When I use it with an XLR (to attach to my DT25 the XLR hangs over the lip a bit, but not in a way that concerns me. http://www.rondomusic.com/pedalcases.html
