  1. To rerbty; Carney1; HungarianGang . . . This is a community support forum. Line 6 doesn't often check in here. Instead, the extremely helpful user community will chime in with solutions that have worked for them in the past. Sometimes Line 6 needs to get involved. In that case, it's best to open a support ticket here http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html Line 6 support is actually pretty good if you engage them properly. Since this thread has degenerated into attempted profanity and name calling I'm locking the thread. Please use the link I've provided and open support tickets. A Line 6 support specialist will be glad to assist you.
  2. . . . and you've changed the Input source to "Mic"
  3. At the end of the day, I'm sure Line 6 could create a wireless FBV system if they were so inclined. I'm sure they could adapt their current wireless instrument/mic technology. Since 2-way communications are involved, it would probably be expensive. The question is whether they could do it economically enough to make it marketable. The second question is "could Line 6 sell enough to make it profitable?" I imagine the answers to both of these questions are "no" and "no"
  4. I assume you are using the L6 Link. I use the pre models.
  5. Open up a support ticket. Sorry, it installed OK on my Mac, but I'm really a PC guy.
  6. You cannot record the music that your computer is playing through the UX2.
  7. Download POD Farm 2.56 directly from http://line6.com/software I would not install 2.0. The newer releases contain bug fixes, OS compatibility fixes, and feature enhancements. I have trouble at times installing software from Monkey as well.
  8. That will work. No, it's not harmful in any way.
  9. ASIO4ALL is rubbish. Use the UX2 driver. As Zap said, make sure that the "Instrument" input is selected in the Line 6 MIDI control panel. You can probably also get to it through Nuendo's audio options if you dig hard enough. I can't give you specifics, as I am not a Nuendo user, but I can get to it through Pro Tools, Reaper, and FL Studio.
  10. Some guitar/amp/power combinations can be a bit noisy. It sounds like the GATE is taking care of the noise, but is not re-engaging quick enough after you stop playing. Noise gates are not engaged while your guitar sound is coming through, but is designed to clamp down on noise when you are not playing.
  11. It may make it "easier" but the quality of your recordings may suffer by having to go through an extra unnecessary DA/AD conversion. If your recordings are important enough to have a "deadline" they should be important enough to make them as high quality as possible. In any case, if you insist on following this route: Make sure you are connecting the POD HD into the Line Inputs on the back of the UX2. Input Source should not be "Instrument" It should be "Line Stereo" or "Line 1 & 2" (I forget which - Try them both). I believe that is where the problem is. I don't know about the cables. I think balanced should be OK, but I'm not sure. Unbalanced is definitely OK. On the Reaper ASIO panel change the Input "last" settings to "Send 4"
  12. Why would you want to pump your HD through the UX2 when you can just record it direct to Reaper via ASIO? In any case, the L/R outputs should go to the L/R Line Inputs on the back of the UX2. Make sure that you have selected the UX2 Line Inputs as your Inputs in the UX2's driver settings.
  13. You have it (sort of). Step 1. Save your current patch bundle (in case you want to restore it) Step 2. Reinstall the latest firmware and allow it to overwrite your patches. Step 3. Save the new patch bundle. Step 4. (Optional - Restore your current patch bundle that you saved in step 1)
  14. POD Farm 2.5 has two parts. There is a stand-alone part which allows you to either send the processed, or dry version, or both versions to be recorded. There is also the plug-in part, which is best used for processing/re-amping a track which has been recorded dry. As an aside, the stand-alone part is not available with the iLok version.
  15. If you are buying the iLok version it does not support the addition of model packs. You either purchase the standard version or the Platinum (fully loaded) version. You can also purchase the "hardware independent" version http://line6.com/store/item/187 That version allows you to install it on up to 4 computers (or line 6 devices) simultaneously, with a lifetime maximum of 10 registered computers or devices. This version will also allow you to fire up POD Farm 2.5 as a stand-alone program for playing or tweaking. The hardware independent version also supports the addition of individual model packs. There is no maximum computer limit for the iLok, but the only model options are basic and full. You cannot use it in stand-alone mode.
  16. POD 2.0 contained models that, for the most part, were more "idealized". They gave the flavor od the amp, but weren't necessarily spot-on accurate. The high-gain, overdriven, models tended to be pretty good, but the clean models left a lot to be desired. It tended to be a bit easier to get sounds that were "perceived" to be good right out of the box. With POD XT, and continuing on to POD X3, Line 6 improved the accuracy of the modeling. This was most apparent in the cleaner models. This accuracy came at a price; there were great sounds in there, but it was harder to coax them out, especially with the higher gain models. The real benefit is that the XT/X3 is much better suited to live play. 2.0 tended to be a bit difficult to get good sounds out of for live play situations. I have used my XT Live, X3 Live, and now HD500 for live play for years. I depend quite a bit on clean tones. POD 2.0 would not have been particularly suitable. To sum up, there are great tones in the X3. In my opinion they are for the most part better than the 2.0, but it takes some work to coax them out.
  17. Oops. My mistake. The cab & mic modeling is there, but no power-amp section. That said, the pre models tend to be "thin" because they are primarily meant to be used with a guitar amp.
  18. With the "pre" models, there is no modeling of the power amp, cab, or mic. It's simply the pre-amp and effects. They are meant to be used with your own amp and cab.
  19. Oh . . . and making sure you have a backup BEFORE doing any major tweaking isn't a bad idea either . ;)
  20. No changes are permanent until you use the "Send" button on the top left corner. To restore your HD to the previous state, just power cycle it. Once you use the send button, you're SoL. You can selectively use the Send function to overwrite one or more selected patches, an entire set list, or the entire device.
  21. Absolutely agreed on both posts. The HD modeling would quite possibly be the absolutely best quality amp/effects plug-in on the market. Line 6 is missing a great opportunity in the recording market by not making HD tech available as a plug-in for the major DAWS (including Pro Tools AAX)
  22. Pan one amp hard right, and the other hard left. Make sure you are only feeding one side to the DT25. Check in the Line6 Link Output section to do this. Sending the other panned channel to the PA should be simple. Note that there is a problem with this. Both sides will end up with the same output mode. While you want to have it set to combo for the DT25 (L6 Link will do this automatically), you want it set for direct for the PA. This is currently not possible with the HD500. It's global setting, so it's all or nothing.
  23. Yes, you can set up two separate audio chains. Use one for your guitar and one for your mic. Pan them hard left and hard right to isolate the outputs.
  24. I actually believe you can use the Bean HD tones directly on the HD500 simply by changing the filename extension from .hbe to .h5e. It will not always work the other way around though work the other way around though due to extra input and output selections on the HD500.
