  1. Another way is to run the analog outputs of the HD into the line/aux input of your computer and make sure that your computer's sound card is primary. I have been using this setup for years without issue or latency.
  2. While I do not have hands-on experience with this combination, I would start by putting the output on the FPP in "AMP" mode. I would then look for the cleanest possible setting on the S2. Start with all tone controls at 12:00 and adjust from there. Tweak until you get tone that sounds useable.
  3. You must do the upgrade from inside of Line 6 Monkey. Make sure that you have something plugged into the 1/4" jack in order to power the Variax.
  4. What Line 6 product are you trying to use the FBV Express with?
  5. There is a Variax power kit that may be the ticket for you. No batteries, and no POD, necessary http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/VariaxPwrKit/
  6. In my opinion the differences would be as follows: Using the HD500 with the correct output settings, in front of a tube amp will give the best "standing in front of the amp" experience. I believe it will also give a superior experience for live play if you are not micing the cab. The DT amp series will add more flexibility to this setup by allowing physical power amp reconfiguration on the fly to match the power section to the HD500's pre-amp output. I've been using a HD500 into a DT25 and micing it up for about a year now, and it sounds fantastic, both to my ears, and through FoH. That said, I believe that the results of just pumping the HD500 through FoH or FRFR speakers would be almost identical to the mic'd output from my amp. What you'll hear through the L2T should be about the same as what the board hears with a tube amp after micing. For live use, even without going into FoH, your sound will always be colored by the Line 6 mic simulations though. I have an L3T, and I do not believe it sounds any better than my DT25 when combined with my HD500. For live electric guitar use, I still prefer the DT25, although I'm REALLY trying to rethink this, since using my L3T would be easier. I am a worship player, and on different weeks I'll play either electric, or acoustic guitar (never on the same week, gratefully). Boiling things down to one amplification rig would make life a bit less complicated, and the DT25 is TOTALLY unsuitable for on stage monitoring of my acoustic guitar. Where your L2T WILL shine is the flexibility it adds for other use cases, such as doing an acoustic stand up act. (Which is actually why I bought mine) ;)
  7. Considering that the UX2 has controls on top, I do not think that underdesk mounting would be ideal. I would think that perhaps an easily installable, wall mounted shelf, available at most hardware stores, might do the trick.
  8. Yes, it should have the battery installed. You should also plug a cable into the 1/4" jack, since the Variax USB interface will not power the guitar.
  9. A standard cat-5 Ethernet cable will work. Be advised that this is not supported or recommended. There have been instances where using a plain cable can do damage to the guitar.
  10. The HD500X does not have all of the amps that the X3 did. You cannot add to the HD series with model packs. Line 6 made up for quantity with quality. Line 6 has released a few new models since the inception of the HD line. Hopefully, they will add more.
  11. For me, I've found that the AC models work best if your guitar has humbucker pickups. To my ears, single coils and AC models are harsh and brittle. For single coils I like to use some of the Marshall models, like the Plexi's and Park.
  12. It's not so much that they sound like the Edge and U2, it's the large reliance on the delays with only a tiny touch of distortion.
  13. Modern "worship music" could be used to describe a contemporary genre of music that is very accessible to the church assembly for sing-along. It sets the tone for the bible readings, sermon, alter call, etc., to follow. This is not to be confused with classic gospel, religious, or even contemporary Christian (which can also include "worship music") It can get rather confusing for someone who hasn't been exposed, to get their heads and hearts around. It's also called "praise & worship" For example, in our church, we generally do two up-tempo "praise" songs to wake everyone up, and them two anthemic "worship" songs to set the mood for spiritual communion to follow. I would consider one of the pioneering leaders of this type of worship (and it is truly worship) to be Hillsong Church, Sydney, Australia. Some other leading artists would be Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Darlene Zscheck, and the recordings from Louis Giglio's "Passion Tours" Some of Lincoln Brewster's songs would be considered "Praise and Worship", but others would be contemporary Christian rock. Think of it as being the 21st century replacement for hymn singing. It is still very much a sing-a-long though. Much of the music can be covered with tones that use just a light touch of distortion/overdrive, and a touch (sometimes a heavy touch) of dotted-eight delay, with perhaps a little optional chorus or reverb thrown in to taste. Throw in a little more overdrive and tone down the delays, for the infrequent leads. When using guitars with humbuckers, I like to use AC30TB, I've found that AC30 tends to have a bit too much top end for single coils, and use Plexi or Park models. It really comes down to what you like for your own sound.
  14. 1. Are the lights green on both sides of the Variax USB interface? It sounds like the USB sides is green and the Variax side is red. 2. If the Variax side is red, try plugging a normal guitar cable into the 1/4" jack. Workbenck will not see the Variax unless it is powered on. The Variax is not powered on unless something is plugged into the 1/4" jack. BTW, I tried mine while not connected to the internet and it works fine, AS LONG AS I HAVE SOMETHING PLUGGED INTO THE 1/4" JACK!!
  15. USB issue perhaps? Have you tried different ports? Do not use USB 3.0 ports either.
  16. In general most people prefer the full models for going straight into a mixer or powered speakers, and pre models for going into a guitar amp. There are no hard and fast rules on this though. As a previous poster stated, use whatever sounds best to you.
  17. Is the guitar powered on? You might try plugging something into the 1/4" jack.
  18. I think it's not so much "worship tone" but tones that work well for typical contemporary worship, such as Hillsong, Tomlin, Redman, etc. I, like you, make my own tones, for my own taste, and select the ones that best match the flavor of a particular song.
  19. Are you logging into license manager with the account that you used to purchase POD Farm 2? Purchased licenses follow your account. You will not need to repurchase, but you will need to log in with the proper account.
  20. What device are you using for input? Make sure that you have that selected in ProTools as both your hardware device, and as the playback engine in the "Setup" menu drop-down. In PT10, make sure that you have your input source selected in the track that you are going to record. If you are going to use the POD Farm plug in later, record the track dry. POD Farm will allow you to record the track either wet or dry. It can get confusing here, as ProTools may decide to rename the inputs. For example, in my setup the wet input is labeled "Guitar" and the dry input is labeled "Mic" The POD Farm 2.55 plug in is not for initial recording. It is best used as a post recording effect applied against a track you've recorded dry.
  21. I've been on a 6 month break, but most of my patches were built around AC30 TB. I use digital delay with dotted eighth setting, sometimes a lot, but most of the time sparingly. It's almost always on to some degree. I use OctoVerb from time to time as well. Sorry I don't have any patches to share. My previous patches were all for HD500/DT25, and were mostly dual amp. The AC30 was almost always the dominant amp. I'm in the process of rebuilding my patches without dual amp, for both HD500/DT25, and HD500 direct into Front of House mixer.
  22. This is also my preferred setup for going direct to FoH.
  23. The HD does not sum left and right to the XLR, but you should be fine just using a single XLR as long as you are not creating stereo patches.
