  1. they never really bothered me... but having said that... i do think you're right... a straight number would probably be better! Although more digital like and less "stombox-like" (clearly what they were going for)
  2. I don't use pro tools... but i do think that the pod should support all the big players... and pro tools is a big player (understatement...) i think your last option meant PF1 and PF2 not PT... makes it kind of confusing.... and 3 out of the 4 options are add AAX (non pro tool users dont know what it is and dont care...) just not thinking there will not be a verdict with any weight to it with the poll being a little obviously slanted towards adding AAX... and it would be beyond silly of them to do a PF-HD upgrade without AAX/VST3 at this point
  3. the usb cable is a standard usb AB cable... typical for use on a printer... (just FYI in case you might have another to try afterall) It's highly unlikely that the pod would damage the usb port, short of some sort of surge or lightning type incident. do you get the same sound with headphones direct from the pod? meaning can we isolate the problem to the pod and take the mac out of the equation?
  4. i would highly recommend that you try flashing it again... sometimes its just that simple.
  5. yes you can get the drivers from that link. you might also check the windows device manager to see if its identified as an unknown device... if the device manager doesn't see it... try different usb cables, or inspect the usb ports for damage.
  6. that's the only way to connect to WORKBENCH.... (add 500x and prox) however... connecting to cubase (AKA recording) is entirely different and has nothing to do with workbench.
  7. i think you use monkey and a midi interface to update the m5, (the procedure is alot more detailed for the m13)
  8. I would guess that perhaps your computer is not sending enough power over USB on startup... other than driver updates i can't think of anything that would help... google and use slimdrivers... it will find some behind the scenes driver upgrades that may help.
  9. It would be great if they pulled this off... someone needs to throw this on idea scale... i don't think it's likely... but ideascale is where you need to post it if you want it to get any traction.
  10. did you download and run monkey? http://line6.com/software/ i might suggest getting the drivers from that link independently... and then get gearbox and you should be all set.
  11. No, but you can save the presets as a bundle in case you wanted to get them back... although there's plenty of them you'll never want to hear more than once anyway.
  12. no, there is only the 32x4 preset locations on the 300/400
  13. not sure your question makes alot of sense... and the answer probably depends greatly on what you are plugging into....
  14. I've always ran the 1/4" to the pod when using the interface... i don't think that the interface does sound... i suppose i could be wrong, seeing as i've never tried to use it like that...
  15. there are only 2 channels not 4... you are talking about the 4 voicings in the amp... (different than channels) it most likely can't be made to do what you want... because the audio goes one direction... meaning any effects you placed in the post position would be ignored. in addition to the voicings and knob issues that MGblade mentioned... in any case... the modeling from the pod is the exact same modeling in the DT amps... so you are making it complicated for no reason... they are designed to be integrated... if there is a difference in sound, then you don't have them set the same.... one common mistake is setting the pod amp model to "no cab" the DT amps DO use cab models... so they will not sound the same if you select no cab in the pod.
  16. AKA the same thing the pod is giving you... circle complete.
  17. it will not play midi... you need software to turn it into audio first (midi is data not audio)
  18. yes up to 4 computers/devices at one time. the video just shows how to authorize it offline.
  19. ... its because they are whining with their eyes and not their ears... it's a visual thing and not an audible thing...
  20. they will also verify that for you if you call them and give them the serial number: http://line6.com/company/contact/ But i believe that metalchef is right, and the issue only applies to DT50 amps anyway.
  21. they didn't have any particular problems that i'm aware of. I also thought that they were reasonable successful. I always assumed that they had a generation 2 model in the works... but it never materialized, I think they shifted their focus to the dreamstage live gear. I have one and love it... would have to be a ridiculous offer to get it from me! :D but i do see them for sale, more and more rarely though.
  22. It's hard to place a dollar amount on a subjective thing like tone.... I can only suggest that you give it a try and judge for yourself. you might consider saving a few bucks and getting a 500 (probably loads of new ones at bargain prices, and many used ones) but it all depends on you're preference.. some would rather pay a few bucks get the latest and a warranty. I do think it's priced well for what it does.
  23. i'd say yes to all of your questions. the HD pods are a higher sound quality... there are fewer models (than the fully loaded xt with all the model packs), but they sound better.
  24. this video gives you an offline option... have not tried it since the license manager was released: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/computer-based-recording/computer-audio-set-up-and-troubleshooting/transferring-model-packs-and-hardware-pod-farm-r171 supposedly still works though.
