  1. have you tried a different cat5 cable on the FBV? i would try that. i would also try and get a different FBV to try before opening if the cable doesnt work... i doubt theres much to gain by opening it.
  2. it's 100% interchangeable with a cat5 ethernet cable NOT crossover.
  3. depends.... and i know nothing on the matter so don't read into it.... just speculation.... if thats the close out price and they are getting rid of the stock... the used prices will only suffer short term... if they are just settling into a lower price point for the long haul then used priced will probably take a more permanent hit.
  4. pretty sure PIV = power inverter (done via tube in the DT50) i think tight and smooth refers to the harmonic compression, but that's only a guess and i couldnt get any more technical on it.
  5. they do have a nylon tone on the now discontinued variax acoustic.... its a common request.... and from what i understand they just havent been happy enough with their efforts to release one.... although its likely been a while since they've tried.
  6. yes you can do it all within a single patch.... but not from one patch to the next,.... as i said though... the potential to eat up your DSP makes it kind of limiting... but still possible. you can have one footswitch turn off one amp and delay or whatnot while turning on another and a screamer or whatever.... as long as all the components will fit within the dsp limits of a single patch
  7. i think the terminology is wrong... they wont be multiple devices... but you can capture multiple streams
  8. No. that would require double DSP.... to process your previous patch and your current patch.... you can put a delay in the loop and it will maintain the trails from that... (not using the pod DSP....)
  9. your best bet is to call a service center and ask them to help you locate the parts.... Line6 does not provide parts to end users, other than the ones they listed in the web store.
  10. i'm confident that the m20d will get future updates.... once they come out with smaller and larger versions... they will likely carry over any development to the current version.... they have a diverse product line and they do much more than just mixers... clearly.... this is of course my opinion and speculation at best... but i'd be surprised if i'm wrong.... check out http://line6.ideascale.com for the ideas others have had... and add your own!!! this will be a good indicator of what they are working on... and a good chance to throw your ideas into the mix. it's also the best place to get a peek at what MIGHT happen in a future update... they really do pay attention.
  11. the part that gets me is the nickel and dime approach where they take a little from everything you do so you don't notice that you're paying like 50% actual tax... when you make it... when you spend it... when you use it... when you dispose of it... when you save it... when you invest it.... etc etc AND THEN... they take like 50% of whatever you leave behind when you die.
  12. the midi adjustments change how the amp is used standalone.... i agree if you're using a pod it's not very useful.... and of course... there's always "because i can!"
  13. Being bought by Yamaha most likely added a physical presence in many countries that didn't exist before. Which would make the collection of that countries taxes a requirement. Blaming line6 for taxes.....really? I can see not being happy. I hate taxes! But blame your government. If more people did this perhaps governments would become accountable to the people.
  14. bingo! some of them are tube parameters that aren't applicable to a solid state model.
  15. its dirt simple... connect to midi launch app..... a page with a bunch of buttons that has choices on it.... select channel and topology on the amp... push the buttons til you dial in what you want.... then change topology or channel... rinse and repeat. the apps are all 3rd party... so much depends on what app you use.... this ones not buttons... but here's a screenshot you get the idea
  16. not really... its actually quite complicated to do on your own.... but some users have created apps that make it quite simple! http://line6.com/support/topic/124-user-created-dt-editors/ basically hook up the midi and run the app... select the options you want and they are sticky... so it will always recall whatever changes you make.
  17. that's likely a service center issue... because the buttons themselves make contact with the circuit board underneath which is the actual switch... meaning you'll likely need a board swap or a comfortable tech that can fix it.
  18. cant say for certain if the latest firmware is installed.... but considering you're interested in changing the default topology amps... you'll need a midi interface anyway... so updating it isnt too hard. and Yes you can change to any of the default hd500x amps... (NONE of the new model pack amps)

yes you can just change the files extensions and use them.... (it is unsupported but should mostly work.) you don't HAVE to register... but it will stop bothering you if you do... if the previous owner registered it you may just have to open a support ticket and have Line6 help you with that.
  20. good catch! :) i dont usually use pod farm standalone, so i don't often think of those options.... do all the input control from my DAW.
  21. just stating the obvious here... but have you turned up the tone direct monitoring knob? have you tried recording? just to see if it will record even if you cant hear it? (that might mean a monitoring setup issue)
  22. by pod studio i assume you mean pod farm.... it has separate settings in it as well. it is possible that its a hardware issue and an exchange might help... it is rare though.
  23. you should at least hear sound when playing youtube etc.... there shouldn't be much to it... have you ran and installed monkey to make sure you have the latest drivers? reboot? try different usb port?
  24. blaming Line6 for taxes in your country is like blaming Mcdonalds for craters on the moon.
  25. you have to go into the control panel or system preferences and tell the meter what you want it to show.... it can be set to different things... inputs and outputs etc.
