I cannot, (even if i were to be in the know....) what i can tell you, is that if the idea is there.... and the idea gets broad community support.... they will evaluate how feasible it is to make it happen... they have to balance limited resources like all companies... time, money, people... with the pod model packs and firmware updates, the upcoming firehawk, and whatever else they have up their sleeves they just haven't gotten to it. I did not intend for the "moaning" comment to be offensive... just descriptive... as i love to see positive ideas and genuine discussion.... it just seems to be a bit negative if we don't put some good ideas behind these types of posts.

i'd open the back cover and trem and check for string fragments... sounds like something could be shorting out...

why not name the features or fixes you're looking for instead of just moaning for an update for no reason? i'm all about fixing it... or even making it better.... but in all honesty i don't see many complaints about the mixer as it sits.... whether or not it if gets an update.... indeed.... "what difference does it make" if it aint broke... lets fix it some more! again! love to see updates... hope it makes you some fantastic waffles one day... but what's wrong with it doing exactly what you bought it to do..... the proper place to get ideas going: http://line6.ideascale.com/ complain there, gather a posse.... watch stuff happen.

as long as you paid for a pod farm license independently you can do this.... if you only have the license that came with your GX, no.

as long as you dont want the model packs you're free to roll back...... seeing as you're a minority of one... no one will stop you!

pod farm 1 yes...(using gearbox to transfer) pod farm 2 no.... pod farm 2 allows for multiple instances of effects and more flexible routing than is possible on an XT or even X3

i wasnt suggesting it was normal that you be prompted to update all the time... i may have misunderstood... i do think its normal that if an update exists you could be forced to make that update one time to maintain compatibility with the app.

I think that you can also format the card in the m20d, which would help ensure compatibility with the m20d

I did not mock or belittle you in anyway... just stated the information was out there and you missed it. as phil points out, we're all users here... and we're just trying to add our perspective to your feedback. which is pretty much why public forums exist.

it's always going to be necessary because the app has to match the hardware.... i'm sure some things could change without breaking the two... and maybe there would just be an app released.... but the 2 things are pretty tightly integrated.

might seem like that if you're not a gearhead.... but there was months and months of build up and a big announcement at the NAMM trade show... not saying demos etc wouldn't be nice.... but many of us heard about this upgrade multiple times a day for months!

you dont need to make or burn a cd or dvd... after the purchase just login to your line6 account in the license manager software and authorize your device.

I disagree... i find the new strat to be far more accurate to the strats i've had.... that's why its a subjective topic... its not hard to make 2 strats sound different.... its also not hard to find people with different opinions as to which one sounds better... that's the beauty of workbench... and being able to try other peoples tones like the one arislaf linked you to.

the software you need is the original pod farm (not pod farm 2) gearbox is still available... just no longer updated. (and neither is the original pod farm) both should still work for MOST people... the only exception i would note is a mac running Yosemite, they seem to be having issues.... but there are forum posts where people have created workarounds. just go here, fill in the pulldown menus and download: http://line6.com/software/

no keeping your tones will not overwrite anything or add anything.

you do have to power cycle to get them to show up properly (you probably did...) but yes they should show up in that list.

that's a crusty old OSX you have there... are you sure you have an intel processor? (you probably do or you wouldn't have gotten this far....) i'm not sure if that version of leopard is supported...

true.. but we can do all that and more on a 50$ retail Roku box... or 30$ firehd from amazon... or 30$ chromecast from google... etc tweak it ... and solder it to the board :D just saying... yeah it's not an m20d option.... but they could work something up next gen.....

No.... experts are users first off.... as in well.... we aren't on the hook in any way shape or form.... i'm simply telling you the truth.... you have the option to upgrade... or not... and you CAN use the hardware without the software... you can plug your instrument in and record into your DAW. you can use any plugins that are available to you to do whatever you want to with that recording. it may not be what you want to hear... but it is what line6 has decided that they will support.... as terrible as it may be for you... i'm not making it up to hurt your feelings..... i'm giving you the info you need to move forward.
