  1. Hi, I refer you to my reply to “Gryphon” in this thread - Hope this helps/makes sense. Edit: In the main Helix area of the forum there are many Reaper users who have updated without issue. The most reported issue is with Cakewalk.
  2. Hi Scot, Firstly, the the date stamp on the files are the dates that software was completed for release - v3.50 released 2nd Nov 2022, and v3.15 was released 7th Feb 2022. The date has no relevance to when you installed it. I’m not sure about the VST2 version of the plug-in as I don’t have a DAW on my Mac that would allow me to test how it installs. I have it as an AU in Logic and it works fine, I also have available GarageBand, Reaper, Ableton, Studio One, Tracktion, ProTools First for troubleshooting purposes. Second. There are no Line staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums”. If you’re having any issues with the installation that are beyond the scope of other forum users, you are advised to raise a ticket with Customer Support. They cannot fix problems that they are unaware of. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  3. In a “failed state” HX Edit will not connect to your device. Go here and follow the instructions. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  4. Hi, If the guy you mentioned was using a Helix floor, rather than the HX Stomp, then maybe they are incompatible as the Helix has double the DSP of the Stomp. You need to be specific about the video, because if any of those presets use both DSPs then you are out of luck. That screen shot of the FACTORY 1 folder looks like it is from a Helix, LT or Rack, not sure about the other as I don’t have a Stomp and don’t have any idea about what presets it ships with. Anyhow - from the release notes: OPTIONAL: Performing a factory reset loads the new 3.50 Factory Presets, but restoring from your backup will overwrite these. Spend some time exploring these and export the factory presets you want to keep (or drag them to your desktop). If you have unused setlists in Helix Floor/Rack/LT, you can also export the entire FACTORY 1 bundle for loading into an unused setlist later. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: He is using a Helix in that video. Maybe, someone could export the Factory 1 bundle to see if it will load into your Stomp. I would offer to do that for you but the studio is locked up until tomorrow.
  5. Go here and follow these instructions to recover from a failed update. Do not allow your Mac to enter sleep mode, or run any other background operations during the installation. Hope this helps makes sense.
  6. The first step in updating your hardware starts with HX Edit advising you that an Update is available. You need to download, install and relaunch the NEW HX EDIT 3.50 which will then guide you through the backup of your hardware and the installation the new firmware. All this is documented in the Release Notes and is also on the Downloads page, It even tells you what is happening in HX Edit 3.50 through the installation process- especially the bit which states " Boot Failure - Entered Update Mode" and then hit the "Resume" button. Your Helix seems to have an issue after trying to Update Presets to work with the new Core and restore your Globals. In a FAILED STATE HX Edit cannot reconnect via USB, therefore I suggest you read and follow the instructions in the link provided above. This will allow you to reconnect and reinstall the firmware correctly. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  7. I really don't know how much clearer this information can be displayed. Go here and follow the instructions Hope this helps/makes sense.
  8. You have done your best to shine a light in the right direction and we can expect no more that that - it just proves people will still continue to stumble around in the darkness.
  9. Strange that you had to raise a ticket with CS, when the solution had already been suppled in the link above posted by "SaschaFranck". Looks like he went to all the trouble of writing a full set of "Failed Installation Recovery Instructions" only to be ignored. Oh, well - that's life!
  10. Hi, You may want to check out this thread - Hope this helps/makes sense.
  11. Hi, The attachment that you uploaded is not the correct format - it is a zero KB .php file - please supply a photo of the “weird square symbols” on the screen, as that will possibly give us a better chance to figure this out. Also, I realise you say you did a backup and restore, but you didn’t say if you can still connect to your HX Stomp over USB? If you can connect, it might be worth trying a re-install of the latest firmware. There is no need to apologise for “poor English. You could use Google translate, and then post here with your issue in both English and your own language - it may make it easier for everyone. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  12. Hi, Go here and follow the instructions. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  13. Hi, Yeah, I also did two backups, first from the old version of HX Edit 3.15, then before installing the update the latest version prompted me to make another backup, which I did. Both of them are saved as bundle files and can be opened into the latest 3.50 HX Edit. Two things immediately spring to mind: 1. It's not unknown for a Mac to be still opening an earlier version of of the HX Edit through an alias back to the old one. Make absolutely sure that you are using the latest version - or 2. Have you have recently updated your OS to Ventura? - apparently there is an issue with the new OS where it fails to save and open backup bundles correctly. Oops! Something weird happening with the attachment too. I'm looking at it on a Mac Book Air running Monterey and all I can see is a large icon image of a blank page with the top right curled back as if being turned. Although, the file seems to be named "Helix Floor Backup 2022-Nov-04.hxb", I can download it but it shows the the same blank page image and it's actually a JPEG file. I'm not sure what else to suggest at this stage. Note:- RE Ventura - this issue with the new OS is not something caused by Line 6 - I had an email this morning from Eventide warning their customers to avoid updating to the Ventura OS. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: Glad you managed to figure it out -I will leave this reply here in case it may helps someone else.
  14. Hi, That seems very odd - I did a backup and restore with no problems yesterday on my Mac (OS Catalina). When you say you have tried everything, did you try "Extract Files From Backup" under the File menu? If not maybe you could possibly post the "XXbackup.hxb" file here and I can try to open it - sadly that will possibly be in 10-12 hours time as I'm just about to close down the studio for today. Unless another Mac user can help before then. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  15. Hi Elton, It's a good idea to patch your monitors to your Helix when recording because that way you will have zero latency. Your processed guitar will be heard through your monitors while recording and via USB7 you can record the DI (dry) audio from your Helix. Having the DI track allows you to re-amp your guitar part through a different preset should you wish. This should not interfere with your Powercab set up, as while you're recording I would guess it will be switched off. If not just change the settings in your Global Ins/Outs. See page 68 of the Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev F - English - for diagrams of setting up USB audio. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f041b611d61cac763b/application/pdf/Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev F - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense
  16. Hi, Go here and follow the instructions Hope this helps/makes sense.
  17. Hi Kringle, Thank you for your well considered comment and deep insight of the situation. It would appear to me that if I should decide to "step away", then you will be the one to "step up" and replace me. You are obviously the one best suited to assist other forum users with various issues, especially "failed" update recovery. Or maybe not, judging by this post which you made when you couldn't figure out how to do that very thing. "Alright, I give up though on trying to figure it how I would do an offline update. I downloaded the new firmware but can't find any way to do it through HX Edit or Line 6 Updater. Can someone share the trick to do an offline update?" You asked "Can someone share the trick to do an offline update?" Well, other than me, there're several regular contributors on this forum who, almost daily do exactly that, and I would also add that I am not the only one who finds this constant re-posting of instructions for bailing people out of "update bricked my Helix" scenarios exceedingly tedious. I have been adding the "this is becoming tedious" comment on many of my posts for quite some time, even more in the past couple of years, especially when the HX Edit update procedure was supposed to make everything about installing firmware "foolproof" As I have said on many occasions, - Nothing is foolproof, to a sufficiently talented fool! RE: Your further comment - "but I only see two post from you here... ". Really, hmm, well according to the profile stats I have actually in excess of 4,000 posts in here, whereas, since you joined on 10th December 2014, your total posts amount to 55, which is a huge contribution to the Line 6 community. Well done - give yourself a huge pat on the back in congratulations. Sorry for my late reply to your jibe, but I have only just stopped laughing at it. It's possibly because I'm very old and cantankerous, that makes me like this - My wife says I need to work on my "people skills", but I have pointed out to her that my people skills are just fine - it's my tolerance of idiots that needs work. Genius, pure genius. Hope this helps/makes sense. Probably not!
  18. Hi, This won't be a big help to you because CustomTone is functional for me, not sure what is happening if you cannot select a tone and download it. When glitches happen try quitting out of your browser and restarting it again.
  19. Go here and follow the instructions! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  20. I did a little digging and found this post from a while back (2019). If your rescue instructions ever get pinned this is a breadcrumb back to the Apple Security issue. Also another with a link to the Apple Support Information. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  21. Hi, This may sound obvious but have you tried taking the DigiMax FS preamp out of the equation, and use the USB audio out of your Helix directly into Reaper using a USB port on the computer? Now, I'll bet that you're going to tell me that your RME (Hammerfall?) 9652 doesn't have USB. I guess you are taking ADAT Optical out of the preamp into the sound card ADAT Optical in I only want to ascertain if you can, or cannot, get a clean (non clipped) signal out of the HX Stomp XL and into the DAW. I have an awful nagging feeling that somehow you are overdriving the inputs of the PreSonus - although I realise that you keep telling us that is not the case. The reason I mention this is because the Owner's Manual for the DigiMax FS does state: 2.3 Instrument Input "Care should be taken not to overdrive these inputs with the signals from instruments with on-board preamplifiers. I would think that your HX Stomp counts as having on-board preamplifiers. Also from the Tech Spec sheet. Maximum Input Level (Unity Gain, 1KHz @ 0.5% THD+N) +11dBu If you say that having nothing but a clean Jazz Rivet 120 in the preset is causing this - then this is the only thing that makes sense to me. I just added a clean Jazz Rivet 120 (yes a Legacy amp/cab block) to a path with nothing else, then that goes out it Logic on the Mac over USB. Result - no clipping, no distortion, simply a clean JC tone. Go figure. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  22. I have just updated my Helix to 3.50 - it was flawless and as you noted, you have to update HX Edit first, then when that is complete, it will re-open and ask if you want to update the firmware. It even states that it will appear to have failed about half way through, but to ignore the message and then hit the "Resume"button when it becomes active again. Not complex, not difficult. For the life of me I cannot comprehend how so many people manage to screw things up so badly. Although, as others have said in a similar way, my computer is optimised for the task. I don't ever have other stuff running in the background during the installation process, music player, screen saver, web browser, email, notifications etc. Just let it do the job.
  23. Essentially your HX unit is a computer! Don’t Panic - It is very rare that a glitch in the firmware (software) update will actually turn your device into an paperweight.
  24. You didn’t mention what version of the firmware you were updating to the latest 3.50? This latest update contains a huge update to the Core system which also happened with v2.80. When that arrived many people thought it had stalled part way through the update, even though it was still working in the background. There is also a note about if you are starting from 2.80, or earlier. My Helix/HX is at version X.XX. Can I go straight to 3.50? Yes, but note that if you're starting from 2.80 or lower, the update may appear to happen three times and will take notably longer than 30 minutes. This is normal. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  25. That post was from “SaschaFranck”, back in Dec 2020. Like me he has become weary of constantly typing, and/or, copy and pasting the same reply over and over. He has also posted, in the last couple of hours, another list of instructions to follow for anyone who is suffering from a failed update. Here ya go! Hope this helps/makes sense.
