  1. Leave it alone I will. But what is nuts is the OP with vague terminology, still has yet to produce a clip, or really demonstrated much in genuinely wanting to fix the problem rather than just obsessively stating it. Mentioning that... we are told "I dont have to validate to you." Despite his most recent posts contradicting that, while looking down his nose at those of us who question. And we are the sad ones? Bit skewed there huh? But that said, I'm leaving it alone and moving along. Hope the OP finds what he is looking for...
  2. "Oh it sounds like a line 6?" "Hilarious." Well we can now see what this thread was really about. Write off, and move on.
  3. At this point, without clips, I can't help, but be skeptical of the intent of this thread.
  4. Yea, I was never fond of KRK monitors, the VXT line isn't too bad, but you can do much better for the $$. The Rokits have always been sub-par.
  5. @crusinon2, and @Verne-Bunsen... Both of your last posts are very well said. I was at first a little "meh" with my Helix, but the more I use it the more I am blown away by it. With less tweaking than I use to do before, I get better tones than I use to before. I find that the articulations, and raw guitar tone still sound through in full mixes with a lot of post processing.
  6. I use the Event BAS 20/20 v3 studio monitors. They are pretty solid, no nonsense monitors. They get to be massively loud though, I have to run my XLR out at "mic" level and still run the master vol knob on my Helix rack around 10-11 o'clock. The max I put it at around is around NOON. I did a good bit of research on studio monitors before I bought my first pair. They are very nice speakers, they didn't add a lot of features to these speakers because they wanted higher quality components to be available at lower prices. Most monitors in their price range typically do have more features, but often lower quality components because of this. The BAS 20/20s are studio stables for decades now, and for good reason too. They have a really nice flat response, They do a good job of reproducing the lower end compared to most other 7.1 inch woofers in their relative price range. They are big, and they are heavy, like around 40lbs a speaker. I don't need to upgrade from these things for quite some time. But if I do I will either go a higher tier Event series, (Event really is a great company for studio monitors) or I will go with something like a Presonus Sceptre 6.5 with a Presonus Temblor 10" sub. However, it won't be anytime soon, these BAS 20/20 monitors are still kicking hard. I think they are a little large for my room, but not that bad, I think the Presonus setup that I mentioned above would be a little better suited to it though.
  7. I think DI stated that the Helix Native presets save with your project in your daw. So when you load up your project... your Helix Native instances in the project will open to whatever they were at when you saved the project.
  8. No, I understand the point. The only way I see it working is if the Helix successor has this feature out of the gate. Few people will buy "Helix 2" or whatever if it doesn't have this feature, and Helix one does. Just pointing out that is a hell of a thing to launch with, especially with so many already established 3rd party options on the Helix I do think there should be a vetting process, of some kind, or at least a rule of parameters otherwise you'll have a decent amount of Helix problems. I am not against it myself. I think it could be really cool, and it would set it in an entirely different realm than the competition. Would like to hear L6 chime in on this at some point. Though I can completely understand if they don't want to go that route, I think it would be much more of a massive undertaking than you seem to be thinking.
  9. Actually, I would think this would be a good idea once L6 no longer supports the Helix. Then again L6 would have to compete with that with their successor of the Helix. Wouldn't be a smart business decision for L6.
  10. AKG are serious quality cans. My gf uses the K702, and she loves them. I have a set if K712 Pro (the orange ones). Best I have used. Totally right on where to buy, and where not to as well.
  11. Yep Reaper is a great value, something great to start with. Another I will add is FL Studio. Its a massively flexible full fledged DAW. It is no where near as expensive as its competition. It has a very active, and considerate community. It has had major updates, and they aren't stopping anytime soon. Here is the kicker, once you register your FLS, you get FREE LIFETIME UPDATES... basically none of the competition offers this, some of the competition charges $200+ for marginal updates.
  12. Sorry, I must correct you. There are 2 different types of reverb plugin (Algorithm), and convolution. Algorithm is basically every guitar pedal reverb. Which might be why some here don't know much about convolution reverb. Convolution reverb is for using IRs of reverbs. For instance I use FL Studio. It has a convolution reverb (Fruity Convolver). This is infact an IR loader. I use it for acoustic guitar IRs, and I can use it for magnificent cave reverb IRs. Matter of fact, this was being used for reverb before guitar cabs/speakers for IRs. You most certainly don't need a butt load of CPU to run it. I had a piddling little Phenom II X4 (at 3.0ghz) and it had no issue at all running convo reverb (IRs) in my DAW. Now I am running on a much more powerful CPU, and I bet that most of the people in this thread have a more powerful cpu than that Phenom II. For the person you are talking to, I would say one instance of Helix Native, then the Convolution plugin (for IR reverb) then have another Helix Native in the same chain after that if he wants more Helix FX after the Convo reverb.
  13. Na, not wrong Spikey. Delay, and reverb, are two of my post loved FX. Its why I chime so much about HX Reverbs. I would love more delays. but I think we have seen a new delay added with almost every single FW update so far. So I think we will eventually have an army of delay types in the Helix before its all said, and done. I also have assumptions about the HX reverbs being worked on as we speak (or right after next update) because of the current reverbs will be getting DSP optimizations in the Feb update. Which in turn breathes room for higher quality reverbs in the Helix.
  14. Assuming you can find drivers for that old audio interface to use with your current pc, then it should work. Only problem would be inherent latency depending on your interface. Which you speak of a UX1, and it will have some latency. Going through a DAW like your Cubase can lower it using ASIO, but its still very much there.
  15. Agreed. I am saying that their are still amps that should be included (even originals) high gain and otherwise.. But they don't have to be a number one priority. However I fully agree with you on other aspects such as the effects, cabs, and other attributes that are just as important, and atm maybe even more so than "more amps." I will state as an observation that since launch (with all the updates so far) that "more amps" seems to have fallen to a lower position on the priority list for most of us Helix users. L6 has done a good job checking the boxes on Amp requests, and have also thrown us some we didn't ask for, but now since we got them we absolutely are thrilled with them.
  16. Me too, especially the Archon. Its stellar for metal. I was just stating that since we got those recently, and the one in Feb.. that I would rather their next amp not be high gain. For instance with the update following the one we get in Feb, (let that be a good clean, or slight break up amp) but it would really nice to have the XTC by year's end, or perhaps Fall. It is a highly requested amp. There is still some more high gain ground to cover before it gets too redundant.
  17. Thing is players that dont use the high gain stuff much often state that all high gain amps sound the same. There needs to be a few more in the Helix before its all done. XTC, another Engl, and an original high Gain amp. (not counting the one comming in Feb). That said after the Bass Feb update. I would prefer L6 for their next amp be something other than high gain, because we just recently got the Archon, and before that the mk IV.
  18. If I wanted to get detailed with mine it would look a lot like this list. Almost in the same priorities. Though if I am being completely honest... Same list all but this part. 5. more FX 6. Mic placement (not just in distance) of HX cabs 7. more cabinets 8. more amps, 9. continuing on with the list above.
  19. Very few of us aren't. Actually every guitarist on the planet "could" be better lol. :p
  20. I don't know if the stock cabs are better than IRs. I can't make that claim. What I will claim is this, I haven't felt the need to even try the IRs yet. The stock cabs are turning out some really stellar tones for me. I run mine parallel as well. As for mics, I find myself doing this, at least one of the mics that I use on one of the cabinets in the chain has to be a ribbon mic, I usually use a condencer, or dynamic mic for the other option. This is my usual case anyway, there may be exceptions, but its the general... I would really like for Line 6 to implement mic placement (not just distance) as well. I think that would bridge the gap even more. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact I can load IRs into the helix, I just haven't felt the need to just yet.
  21. Agreed. A few more amp models, some original, some reproduction like the XTC. Other than that I agree about the cabs & FX, especially reverbs. Looking forward to HX reverbs. Stability, a little more mature drivers, and some functionality.
  22. Agreed on both points including the mono reverbs.
  23. Maybe try trails on? hell it won't hurt lol, but I doubt that is it. You sure you weren't recording a dry track to Logic with USB 8?
  24. If it doesn't happen when not connected to the pc then this is what is happening. In FL STudio I just de-route any channel I have incoming guitar being recorded from the master channel in the mixer. Boom. Done, no problem. I am sure Logic has a relatively easy way of doing it as well.
