So far, I am more drawn to the Ribbon mics. I want to say the 121 is the one I think I like the most so far. But I am in the middle of finishing an album, and the majority of guitar is already recorded, and ReAmped. So I haven't delved near as deep into as some of you probably have.

Unfortunately, I have to agree my friend. We are doomed unless we mature. -
Yamaha acquisition, market dominance & price hikes

Actually, I agree that it prolly wont happen. Which will bring about our end as a result. The systems we use now are temporary, supported on traditions and habitual lies. The problem is beliefs, and systems of beliefs are valued higher than logic, evidence, and critical thought. It is this right here that fuels the tribalism. The fact that we still havent gotten past the need for supersition, like these religions (which tried, and still tries through enforcement just as Stalin did) is a neon glowing sign of the mind of the masses dedicated to ignorance. Much like patriotism, and worshipping socio-economic systems while it is evident they are temporary, and already failing. An NLRBE requires its people to be intelligent, much like a true democracy, which the world has yet to see. While this is already technically possible, the stupid, and the dedicated make it all but improbable. Anyways, I didnt mean to get off topic. I am done talking about this, as I have learned its a real time waster. I hope the OP gets what he wants for a reasonable price. So back on topic. -

Galaden is right...Also it isn't the only way to get technological advancement. There are other systems already proposed that would do a much better job of it. With far less waste (NLRBE for instance). But anytime anyone brings them up, they are shot down by the typical rhetoric that so many people are gullible to, citing such arbitrary things like tradition. Capitalism isn't the only way, and it surely isn't the best way for the many! Now on to the OP, I hope you are able to find what you want for a decent price. My Canadian, and Australian gamer associates also run into the same issue. Exchange rates, price increases, middle man prices, VAT, and other taxes. Helix is well over $2,000 worth of US equivalent in some parts of the world. There was someone on here recently, or perhaps a different forum that was saying his was like $2,200. -
I too came from an Eleven Rack. I haven't used much of my Metal focused guitars on the Helix Rack yet, due to where I am in recording my album. I have been mostly using my Tagliare (Dean Zelinsky). Its got 3 single coils and is my guitar that covers anything that I would need a Strat for. Bell like tones, some David Gilmour/Pink Floyd tones. I have to say the Helix does a great job with my Tagliare. (I named her Ember) Matter of fact, out of all the modelers I have ever used, or heard... The Helix is by far the best for Single Coil Pickups. As for metal, most of the metal portions of the album were already recorded before I even got the Helix. But I will be recording a new metal only record for my next one and I will definitely be able to tell them. But if the Helix can do what it does for Ember (single coils) for the Humbucker pickup equipped guitars and the heavier tones... then I will be ecstatic! As far as the Eleven Rack. I have gotten some decent metal tones out of it. Id even be willing to share a few of them, most are tweaked patches from some that I have downloaded. However, since you have the Helix, and you have already been directed to the Fremen packs (which I will more than likely invest in at some point as well) I don't think it matters. It would be holding you back from a superior tone, as I did enjoy the 11R, especially for its routing, the Helix is better in just about every way. Except for perhaps the Speaker Breakup parameters that the Eleven Rack got with its expansion pack. The Helix could use something like that, or maybe it has it, and I haven't found it yet.. lol.

Shame yes, but if it is a problem with the amp model itself. Then a Firmware update can fix it once L6 gets around to it. Meaning they could improve those if there is a problem, technically speaking. So we may see a fix for it one day. I cannot confirm the issue myself, I am breaking down my studio for some alterations, and improvements, and I don't have any of my stuff hooked up to see.

While I prefer to edit on the unit itself, you guys bring up a very valid point of component life. The main reason why I prefer to do it on the unit, is screen real estate. I use only 2 screens, and the editor can take up a decent portion on one of these screens. Its why I have built a stand that has the unit at an angle for me for quick/easy access with my right hand. I want my Helix to last me for many years. So I think It may be a good idea for me to use the Editor as a supplement, especially if building presets from scratch, or bouncing between many presets.

He might have external mic pre that he likes the sound of.

Don't feel bad, I had one of those same days a week or so ago. Not only that, but I was also troubleshooting something else on my guitar to make matters worse.. But I just got done doing a few recording takes with a separate guitar, and the tones I got from a Gilmour preset I downloaded sounded great just loading it up. After a bit of further tweaking (not much really) it sounded even better. It will more than likely be the tone I use to ReAmp that recording with perhaps after further dialing in with the mix playing, and my hands free from guitar. I have spent far more time with my single coil Tagliare with the Helix, than any other guitar of mine, even though I have 5, and 4 have humbuckers. So I can't really comment on the humbucker tones as much. But if I get comparable quality in tones from the Helix that I do with my Tagliare, then I will be more than satisfied. :) I never had a modeler that did so well with single coil tones like this Helix does.

Same here, I have ran into some issues, but other than the issues. It is a wonderful piece of kit. I can confidently say I don't need amps/cabs anymore. I haven't owned any in a few years anyways, but the Helix just cements it in for me. Way to go Line 6, you have a monster on your hands, and the potential for it to go even further with continued support!

I have FRFR. Although I am using some EVENT Studio monitors as my FRFR. I don't even have a proper amp/cab anymore. Only Helix Rack, Eleven Rack, and the multitudes of plugins. I am a studio musician that composes a decent amount of different music so FRFR makes much more sense for me. If I was a touring musician I may look at it a little bit differently. However as of now, I don't have room for an amp, especially if I am to be getting any more guitars. :D

Nah, I don't clean mine, It just sits in the same spot in the studio. I don't eat in there, I only drink out of containers with a lid, or a cap. I don't smoke in there. I might wipe the dust off of it from time to time. I have the rack version and one thing I like about it is there are no vent holes for dust to get in. Its completely in closed unlike my Eleven Rack. However, I want to say my Eleven Rack stayed a little bit cooler after a few hours of use. But the Helix is only slightly warm so its no biggie.

<As an independent developer I have no problem with "proprietary" and such utopian idealisms might suit communist angels but not us earthly flawed human folk. But nothing in this question touches upon anything of any originality that would be proprietary. Its more akin to asking "do you have effect model X" ?> I was responding to the others mentioning proprietary. Nice, on the typical rhetoric of shock words for convolution in your first statement. Moving on. However, I do hope you find the information you are looking for. I didn't mean to derail...

I think it is more than likely a USB related issue as well. I am probably one of the people you are talking about, as I have reported some issues with the USB. It could be driver related even. IF the driver fails, it could freeze up a unit theoretically. Agreed here as well. I basically use the Editor for a librarian. I do ALL my editing on the unit itself. But to be fair I have the Rack version and I have it on a table angled up at me where my right hand reaches it very comfortably from my mixing chair. I do use the editor to set the tempo to be synced to song/project BPM instead of by milliseconds.. I just can't seem to find that option on the unit itself per preset. On the editor its right up at the top, and easy to get to. So I just use it there since my Helix is always connected to my pc, as its my audio interface as well. That is unless someone is kind enough to guide me to where this is accessible on the unit itself. :D

Just for fun: What do you think is coming in the next update?
Lachdanan0121 replied to Bangha's topic in Helix
Oh not a problem, I like to offer advice when it helps lol. ;) Yeah, I see what you mean about the separation. Perhaps, a midi foot controller plugged into the tablet to change pages would be an alternative. This way you could manually sync the tablet, and Helix each song. However, this would be a cluster if you change your track listings up often during shows from one night to the next. I am not opposed to your idea, as an option, and as long as it is out of the way, and something we don't have to go through (or purposefully go around) during normal Helix uses. -

My friend, even if the Helix could do your request, it wouldn't be able to do it efficiently, and you still be able to see your signal chain at the same time. However I think I know of a few things that could help you. You can get a cheap tablet. (check amazon.com, or monoprice.com) it doesn't have to be a fancy Ipad. Load you up an auto-scrolling text app, that you can control the speed of the rolling text, (or pages). You can buy an inexpensive microphone stand, and a tablet holder for a mic stand. (IK Multimedia makes one) This is what I do for lyrics when I record vocals in my studio, as I keep it dark enough to where text just isn't readable from paper. (I like ambient lighting for moods you know) its probably not all that different than being on a stage as far as that aspect goes. The tablet I can set size of text, and brightness, and it can auto-scroll so no hands needed, and its all literally right under the mic. The things are getting much cheaper these days. Hell, if you have a smart phone it could probably work too, although I would go with tablet simply cause of the larger screen size. Edit, hell I doubt you would even need a mic stand. Something that you can set on the floor and it angles up at you so you can see it easy, and set it right beside your Helix floor controller, or Helix floor processor. -

Lachdanan0121 replied to Bangha's topic in Helix
Since they just had the mk IV in the last update, I doubt the next update will include another high gain amp like the XTC, or the Archon. I am hoping for new reverbs (and really wanting HX reverbs), more stable drivers, perhaps more filters. -
or northwest Louisiana. Lol

My Dean Zelinsky Tagliare (named her Ember) benefits from lowering the Impedance. It is a my Strat style guitar. The others I have are all super-strats. I find it really cleans up the sound by reducing background noise (such as hum) and is also great for taking some of the edge off. I find that once I do this, then I can turn the Amp and the CAB High cut back up a little. Gives it a nice little sweet spot. At least on one of my clean patches. The only other guitar I have played through it uses active pickups, so the impedance doesn't really affect those. For this reason I just leave it set to Auto for those patches.

Well $#*&... you got me there! lol

Which considering what the majority of the public believe about their reality.... the public has already proven to be brain damaged. ;) As far as the tuner, what are these people expecting? Everyone that complained about it being inaccurate, then being too accurate might want to take a look at an evertune system. To be fair, I kinda want to get one myself. The tuner is fine for me after the update. Yes before the update it was disappointing, however its fine now.

On one if my patches that uses the whammy, and my Mission SP1-L6H exp pedal. The pedal value likes to sit at 1, 2, or 3 percent. This happens everytime I load the patch, even after saving it with it set to 0. Next time I load it up it Will do it again. Its not ground breaking or anything... just a little inconvienent. I will check again tonight just to make sure I am not missremembering. EDIT: After powering on my Helix with it to come up to the very patch I am talking about. It seems to work as intended. Value is sitting at the minimum like it should be. So I may just need to be extra careful when I have something routed to the expression pedal when I edit/save a patch.

HXReverbs, and some vocal effects, like vocoder, harmonies and such. Other than that, I am just happy with whatever Line 6 gives us. They just added the mesa MKIV which was at the top of my list for additions... Once they model the XTC from Bogner then I wont have anymore specific amp models to request. Maybe another Engl for high gain, but thats about it.

This. However, yes a tree does make a sound. The friction, and vibration are still very much there, regardless if a person is there or not. To think otherwise shows a level of arrogance much like thinking all life revolves around us, or that we are the center of existence. I know I am harping here. But without friction, or vibration. There would be no gravity to have the tree fall. :)
