  1. I guess you could just set up a standard set of patches on the Timeline and BigSky, and use that setup with every patch then via some sort of controller like the Disaster Area DMC. That's what I basically did with Helix Rack and the controller for a while (altho now I do use Helix midi control to control each in the ctrl center part of the editor).
  2. I'm glad you found a good workaround and still get great tones!!!
  3. High-Level amateurs like me also use high-end interfaces like the Apollo, yet many also like me do "not" have lots of money, we just like high-end equipment and like me, paid it out with "NO INTEREST" over a 12 month period @ Zzounds. So you see, there are ways to get one with minimum pain in the wallet, and so your idea that only the rich can afford such equipment is just wrong. But I do agree with you in that you usually get what you pay for regarding audio interfaces. That said, if you are wanting a Helix and don't have a "high-end" audio Interface (or one at all), I'm sure Helix is more than capable of doing a good job for you. I just can't imagine ever trading out an Apollo for a lesser interface when you don't need to and that's why I asked ipran why... In fact, my opinion is that the audio interface on Helix was a nice "add-on", much like nice mud-flaps are on an expensive 4x4... Doesn't make the truck any faster though... ; )
  4. Heh, I guess that's the place to be these days for any new Helix info....
  5. Exactly. Why "in the world" would you do this since you have both units? Yes Helix has an audio Interface, but you have a better one in the Apollo (in my opinion). Just use them both in what they are designed for, and I think you will be much happier. Example: my expensive car has reverse, but I won't use it going down the Interstate just because it has that feature as there is a "better" option... As always, YMMV. ; )
  6. I'm just gonna have to break down and buy one of these damn things so I can straighten all yall out... Does it at least have a tuner in its editor?
  7. So what determines a "good valve amp"? A certain brand? You mean a Fender Twin sound? Or a Mesa Mk V? Or maybe a Plexi? Or is this an individual thing that only the individual can judge for themselves? Like I said earlier, go to the store and play with a Helix, its the only way to know for sure if it will suit YOU.
  8. This guy's videos are very worth your time.
  9. Meaningless ice cream to some is a Banana Split to others. ; )
  10. Old farts don't take offense Sonny Boy, they just outplay ya... ; P All Kidding aside BAmartin, I think you are saying the same, adding is always a better option than subtracting your options. Be it amps, profiles, etc...
  11. Do you mean all this has become "meaningless" to you as well? ; ) LMAO....
  12. Cru my friend, there is no magic number. That's the Key ; ) When you or I decide there should be that's when restrictions are placed instead of options. I choose options every time. Whether I need them or not. Which is better really? To have and not need, or the other way around? Without playing the "which is a better box game", Its a simple choice for me.
  13. Spot on. I'd rather have 5000 choices I never use than need 3 I don't have... Less is more says the guy with the 3 he needs but doesn't have... ; )
  14. I don't have either yet, but I would use the fx send from the Stomp into the HX FX, and the send from the FX back into the return of the stomp. Then use USB (or midi) for controlling them via any editing software.
  15. That's mostly true for the profiles in Rig-manager as well Cru, but every now and then there are some real gems in there... But ya gotta get used to them sharpened pencils to find um lol...
  16. I don't see it like that way Cru- and here's why. I have about 40 handpicked profiles in my Kemper "Favorites" that I use on occasion. But for example, Rig-Manager has around 13000 profiles to choose from and directly load into the KPA. So I don't think its necessarily the amount of profiles you use. For me, I think its more the amount you have to choose from. ; ) Ah to be young again... You can do that Kilrathi until you are around 50 or so. Then your metabolism dies, your pancreas doesn't take care of the blood sugar any longer like it did, you start feeling arthritis more every day and the neuropathy in your feet, well, you get the picture. Pretty soon you are just glad your fingers still work so you can enjoy playing the guitar. Enjoy getting older my Friend lol...
  17. Well yes he is gun. He works for Line-6, knows about what's in the next patch before it's released, and then reports that info here (and as of late elsewhere as well). He releases information that has been "approved" to be released. Stuff that isn't ready to be released is not discussed, at least by him here. That pretty much makes him a "forum spokesperson" for Line 6, whether or not his choice of distribution of information fits where I think it should happen first, or not. My point in bringing all this up (again), is that I was told here that he does not like saying much here because it's too intense (but doesn't seem to mind running his mouth @ TGP), and so if that's the case and he is indeed a mouthpiece for Line-6 (since he does work for them and answers to them and reports information released by Line-6) then maybe a new line of work is what is really needed here. In other words if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. That said, I don't think for a second anything said here on this forum bothers him at all, any more than posting info about the next Helix patch on another forum before this one. And to Phil, you are right in that D.I. Doesn't have to say anything (unless his Boss directs him to) here. And I do appreciate what information is released by him for/by Line 6. But this is the official Helix Line 6 forum, is it not? If so, then Helix patch information should be released here first, and it shouldn't matter how much traffic another forum has. In fact, if that info was only released here, we might pick up some of that same crowd .... And if it doesn't matter, then let's just close the place and meet over there then? Or would that be too intense? ; )
  18. Inertia, D.I. Is the Line6 spokes person for this forum, as well as others I'm assuming since he talks else-where about new things up and coming for Helix there too. He is one of the guys that speaks for the Company in other words. Are you trying to tell me in having a job like that, that he has issues dealing with the general public being intense?
  19. Thanks, data. I keep making the help mad at me I'll never get that tuner huh lol. Same to you - Happy New Year!

    best I.R'S

MBritt makes some killer profiles for the Kemper. Not sure if He does IR's for Helix.
  21. So, if that happens at both websites (the whining and bickering) then why did D.I. post it over there 1st? Fine, I'll ask him then. D.I., care to comment on this? After all, I am asking why you would post Helix information elsewhere "before" you would here 1st? Im not trying to lollipop you (or anyone else) off here. I am NOT trying to get you to STOP posting information, but I am trying to get you to consider this site as "Primary" as far as Helix information is concerned. Is that too much to ask for? As I said earlier, you can post where-ever you choose and It's not that your information isnt appreciated (it IS), but where you decide to post it and who you leave out (specifically us here) is a concern of mine. So I'd like your input. What say you?
  22. Good. I'm glad we are on the same page then. Happy New Year to you as well.
  23. And it was NOT made official over there either, but it was there and not over here and that's my gripe (that iy should have been here 1st). And according to at least one of the "Experts" here, it a meaningless point I made, of which I wholeheartedly disagree. Mountain out of a molehill? Maybe, but I come to this place to read about my Helix product, and that's not meaningless to me. I am glad you see my point, but I disagree that the information (official or otherwise) needed to be posted from a Line-6 Employee on a specifically NON- Line-6 Helix forum 1st before this site got that information, busy or not. And then to state that didn't matter anyway because it's meaningless, is just a slap in the face for everyone who owns a Helix and visits this site for information, in my humble opinion. Who knows... Maybe Silver is right. Maybe this is just meaningless to the ones that it should matter to. As always YMMV
