You "may" have to add a dummy 1/4" jack/plug in the input to get the send and return to work thru the amp IIRC...

Helix lt volume barely audible through celestion speaker
spikey replied to Dannocaster's topic in Helix
Oops Looks Like DI just nailed me on that guess. I stand corrected. Thanks, DI... As always you are the candle in the Line-6 darkness. OTOH, Maybe it's just not called "Helix 2. ; ) The Vetta was Helix's grampa Phil- so that's kinda where I got the notion. They obviously don't now (DI just confirmed it) have such a thing as a Helix 2 in development, but they certainly did at one time have a powered device not much unlike Helix is (minus current technology) . Yes, that was a while back, but still. -

Real? Just guessing ; ) but I've not been told NO by anyone official either (and won't be). -
I guess it depends on the individual's perception of whats an acceptable failure rate percentage. In other words, If I had one and it was bricked, my level of perception on what was an acceptable percentage would be much lower... Ya know its funny, a company won't ever admit that accidents of the employee can and will happen, they only talk about reducing them to ZERO. However, when they make a product and a certain percentage of them fail, they always seem to blame that on the numbers sold... ; )
-
Line 6 for decades has "never" given out time frames for updates. Like Cru says, that way they are on time (and there are no deadlines to be met or broken promises to the users). The closest to this info is that sometimes DI, or one of the "sperts" says soon-ish. ; )

I could be just wrong (it happens), but every time I think about buying one of these I come across another thread here on a bricked unit for whatever reason. Sure many have had no issues "yet", but after reading about problems from people on these units over several months it is becoming too consistent for me to "buy in", enough so that I think it needs a QA dept redo. Why are the multiple resets needed? And please, don't hand me (even if its possible) the "its a computer so its gonna happen" excuse, because to me its more a code instability problem. Something is causing this and it is not all the user's fault for hitting certain buttons in a sequence, turning it off wrong, etc etc... These issues are/should be beta tested overs months before ever being released to the GP. Yep, nothings perfect and I get that, but still. No, I'm not trying to be condescending when I say these things, but from reading the threads over time here, something is causing too many (in my opinion) of these units to fail. So what is it?

Yep, that's a "pre-amp" signal you are sending to that speaker Danno. Maybe the Helix-2 Introduced this Holiday Season (or Jan-19) will have an amp included... ; ) -
Its what you get used to, but no - no noise because I'm not gaining the crap outta it most of the time. Mostly Clapton or early Gibbons type growl. Works well to control the feedback volume on the FreqOut and that was what I was after, and I usually run a compressor after the amp (started this per a Robert Keeley suggestion a long time ago).
-
Using mine after the amp and before the compressor. In that way I can control the overall volume of the feedback from the chain.

Suggest calling Line-6 support/ create a ticket/ Or return/exchange the unit if possible. And yea I know this sux's and is not what we ever want to hear/read...
-
Re-purchased another KPA. Dunno why I sold the 1st one. With it and Helix I can play for hours with hardly any tweaking...
-
I'm just using the FX Return into the FH-1500 - a mono (sub-mix) feed on the mixer, and it works very well. It's not stereo but neither was nearly every amp made from 1950 on. Im happy with it, and the FH1500 does very very well as a sound source for Helix (and anything else signal wise I feed into the Return jack).

Remeber you have to buy it to find out whats in it.... ; )
-
Oh Line-6 is well aware of the serial numbers that were effected. That I have no doubt of. So the question is, do you want serials xxxxxxxxxxx to xxxxxxxxxxxx? And dates too? Ya know, that would cause lots of those with no issues in that range of serials to go spastic, demanding a new unit that didn't fall in that range "even if theirs is not malfunctioning yet"... Now, do you really think that Line-6 is willing to just hand out those numbers to the GP, just because there "might" be issues on some of those like maybe you have?

Well, they did me right on my Jem purchase, was set up perfectly and shipped fast. I can't complain abt them. I think some peeps just like to lollipop. Grats yer a full member now just like me.
-
I think he wants to touch you Phil... ; )
-
Yep, but it's not as expensive as air would be if it needed to be purchased. Thank God hot air we are sometimes full of doesn't cost much either. ; ) Ahh, Its only money and you can't take it with you. I still envy your toys - Grats!!!
-
Its not that bad, no trouble at all really. I have two racks set up for each and play the one that suits me for that day. ; )
-
Glad you like It glide! Envy from this side- and also makes the competition stay on their toes too! Win Win ; )
-
Good reasons for many as well. Id also like to add the new Fractal device to my Helix and KPA (cause I've heard it sounds awesome too), but then I was always too spoiled, pessimistic, obtuse and pedantic for my (and others) own good. ; ) So tell me Glideman, is it nice enough and are you keeping it???
-
Jezzz no one including me suggested you were stupid Phil. Pointing that out in your case was a bit anal, wasn't it? I would suggest a valium and a coke and a smile. Or is that too pedantic for you too? I just wanted to clarify to the folks who have never owned an Axe FX before to know that they "didn't" come from the AX8 as I thought you suggested. In fact, it was the other way around. We good now?

My advice is to keep yer amp heads and use Helix as an interface between them. Works great with my DSL-100h, and best of both worlds.
-
As long as that new squirrel has a tuner... Otherwise, I'll just wait for Helix 2 next Winter Namm ; P.

Hummm, I coulda swore I changed out the standard 12AX7's in mine with GrooveTubes" a year or so ago....
