It's not really a pedalboard per say, as mine is more a studio only setup. I'm controlling all pedals (besides the Riverside) via midi with Helix. Still a work in progress. I split the midi with a Midi Merger and that way I can send/receive midi info from Helix and from "Nixie" to control the patches in all 3 pedals from the Mac or from Helix.

FWIW, many over in the "Kemper owners side" forum are quite excited over this little box!
-
Controversial? Really... That's interesting... Hope that puts to rest the L6 Link midi control issues Helix was born with. I might even get a tuner for the editor too! ; )

So you are saying that Line 6 couldn't (or wouldn't) figure this one out??? Was this over the phone or did they have your Vetta? Nice troubleshooting BTW and thanks for the info!!!

Risks of buying an old used Vetta 2? (software might go bad, etc...)
spikey replied to framebyframe's topic in Vetta
I have a working Vetta-2 combo. Everything electronic will break. My relatively new Helix will also break at some point. The unknown is "when". If it works well now (just like your 5-year-old 65" TV) then most likey it will work a year from now, but as with anything else, there are no givens. -
Well, if there "was" a "Lithium" battery like on PC's that save Cmos settings, you would have to replace it every 5 years or so. But Phil just stated there was no battery so that's a good thing.

I kinda see yer point- It woulda been nice. I felt the same way when L6-Link was "gutted" in Helix yet they used the same "Trademarked" name as in the HD-500 series. OTOH, I also have 11 or so "non-Variax" guitars that would work just great with this little box, so I can see it selling like Hotcakes & Bacon on a snowy morning!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!! A new Bean!!!

As soon as you mean it... Next, you'll be telling me you're afraid of flying and have 4 witnesses to prove it lol...

Nice misdirect but No, it's not about ears or tone when I was talking about the hardware (to make the software sound better). Once that happens, then you may use your ears.
-
It's about time, but then a blind pig can find an acorn once in a while ... ; )
-
This isnt about ears, its about having the right hardware to support the software. Identical for you Cru is not Identical to others or does that refute my facts above, but think what you wish an I'll do the same. ; )

Welcome jpal. Just guessing here but I would think that since there is a L6 Link connection on the Powercab +, so You should be able to control at least parts of the settings on the Powercab + with Helix using the "Control" settings within the editor. I say this because I can and do control 3 Strymon pedals at the same time via midi, the editor and a Midi interface thru Helix.

Native is software. Helix is software "with" very nice audio hardware to run that software thru- BIG difference. They may be the same, but are the converters in the PC/Mac & Audio Interface yer running Native on able to match Helix's Converters? DI says in Helix: "We're able to get 123dB of dynamic range from 114dB converters", and he also says "Very few audio interfaces have Helix's level of A/D conversion and op amps and almost none have its 123dB of dynamic range, digitally-controlled analog pad, gain-staging, and dynamic impedance circuit". So without Helix as your audio interface (or one with the same specs) then I can't see how the equal Algorithms can match up the differences tone wise.... ; )

Make sure that you have the latest iPad version for whatever you ask for- I.E. My iPad-2 worked great on the FH-1500 and then Line6 upgraded the software to only work on a much newer iPad. The same program looks wise, and no way to reverse and undo it that I know of now.
-
OTOH, a Sustainiac pickup or a Freqout pedal will do the trick too. ; )

Ok, just a question or two. If possible, change the cable 1st. Then.... How close is HX to the computer? Does the noise change when you move it, or your guitar from the monitor? Does the HX go completely quiet on the monitors when the USB is unplugged from the computer? Is there another place to plug in the computer (even if you have to use an extension cord) for testing? This still "could be" a bad USB cable, dirty power, no ground at the outlet, etc etc...

Cant use Mojave on this version iMac, so High Sierra it is..... And it works well with Helix.
-
Ok, I get that amsdenj, but are you not cutting off the delay & reverb tails by placing that volume pedal in the front of the amp?
-
Of course, all this is pure speculation at this point until more definitive answers show up, but if there are different hardware manufacturers sending parts it could be that certain pieces of the hardware can't play well with certain parts of the software/code written for HX, or vice versa, or both. Edited: Let me say it before someone else does... Or that's not the issue at all... ; ) lol
-
Good luck with that- I think the old saying "don't quit yer day job" was invented for that exact thought process (by many a musician way before you and I). ; )

Anyone know how many manufacturing plants make this unit? Even if it's not more than one plant, then are they working from the same parts manufacturer, or multiple ones?
-
Correct Dragon- Just to clarify again for others, that's because all PA's (and FRFR speakers) are not created equal. That said see below. I would "not" use headphones to set up tones for FRFR or PA equip. Why? Because usually, they tend to be bass heavy (colored) tone wise and not "flat". You need something that mimic's what you will be playing thru live, and good FRFR' speakers will be the closest match to a PA system generally. Maybe even sound better than the PA itself.
-
Was gonna agree, And then I read abt your purchase- Power Cab Plus is very nice and from your OP overkill for you- so enjoy!!!

L6 Link fixed (fat chance) and working as its namesake did. And, Id love to see the tuner in Helix changed (or added) to a Strobe version. And of course, a virtual tuner for the editor.
