Spikey-tradamus prediction for Helix... Looks into his slightly used but out of warranty Crystal ball... Better sell yer stuff nows boys, if you want a decent down payment on Helix 2 by the end of 2018... ; )
-
Same here. Most do. My H&K GrandMeister 40 Dlx tube amp doesnt need a speaker, and you could also buy a Torpedo "Captor" and run "any" tube amp thru this then...

Those broken shingles keep flyin off the roof... There goes another one... (emoticons here)

Man, you can't even edit your own topic without waiting 30 seconds either.

Like the tuner, there is nothing wrong with the new forum... -
Expression pedal reaction question, possible stupid question...?!?
spikey replied to themetallikid's topic in Helix
I"ve had issues where if I did not move the expression pedal on boot up, I could NOT store the preset after Helix comes up (in edit mode). But once I move the pedal, all is well and it "never" does this again until I turn "OFF" Helix and then turn it back on. If that was a bad pot, it would read bad more times than not. No, this is and has been how Helix reads the pedals setting when it 1st boots up. -
Its a thorn grown around these parts, and as of late fits my attitude perfectly...

In some respects, you can dig deeper with this new look than you could with the old look, but it admittedly takes a bit more programming to get there. ; P
-
Karl this is a non-logical thread and you are just confusing them with facts. They like the tuner. End of story. ; )
-
NO..... And Shhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Yer not supposed to mention that ! ; )
-
Well, just because I'm not worthy either (I believe deplorable was the word used once) nor take this trivial stuff personally- doesn't mean you cant mention it. Just following suit. ; ) Cats outta the bag now Phil! Wonder what else these "Experts" have here that we don't?.... I already know... Respect.... Hehehehe.

The other day I wanted to start a poll on the Helix forum and was unable to because "I" didn't have the option/command to create one. However, Phil (Expert User Class A extraordinaire ; )) showed that he had the "Create a poll" tab option to create one. Is that option only available to just a few select folks here, or did I just overlook this option? I would start a poll on who has the poll option, lol but it seems I'm not one of the select few that can... Guess I'm not worthy... ; ) Hey its ok, just wanted to see if this was just on my end (besides the unworthy part)...

The reverbs I've heard in HX are nice too. But...., That's "almost" unfair comparing the reverbs because the Big-Sky is really really good. Now no one needs to defend Line-6 here, just saying and as always YMMV. ; )
-
Interesting- I don't seem to have that and you do. I'm thinking the same thing happened with the tuner... Now if we could just get that nice one you are using.
-
Anything to divert from a jumpy tuner issue eh? BTW, Like shingles, I've got yer special council hangin lol.... Under the "Start New Topic" button you say? Maybe it's under the Emoticon tab? ; ) Maybe this is a feature on the new forums but I don't see it.
-
Altho it wouldn't solve the tuner issue per say, it might let Line-6 (and everyone else) know where the forum members stand in regards to the way the tuner works in Helix. Put a simple poll up, on whether you like the way the current version of the tuner in Helix works, or you do not. Is that even possible? If so tell me how- I'll do it...
-
My feelings Exactly. And I might add, sugar coating it over the jumpiness doesn't make it (or anything else) better either.
-
Thanks, Dragon for this- I played around with your editor settings shown and it does indeed help to carve out a very nice tone!!!
-
You could buy a Helix Rack and controller (like I use), and then you have the best of both worlds, in that you could just use Helix as a stomp box, and later find out just how nice the modeling is inside Helix and use it normally.
-
Maybe you are correct in a way Hamm. But I think most of us want a "guitar tuner", not a granular tuner. And other tuners (like the one in a Kemper) that most everyone has used in the past, are very accurate without being so damn jumpy.
-
You should look at one Phil. It would change your definition on what a good tuner acts, feels and looks like. No, jumpiness makes for jumpiness... Please get that Line-6 brown stuff off the end of yer nose Hamm... ; )

Hum Destroyer works very well for me...
-
Yep- and I'm in that minority too. And has been for me for over 45 years or so...

The SP1-L6 Helix pedal is what I use for the wah. The one with the switch. I adjusted the nuts on the switch so that it has a light touch when pressed and it works GREAT for me. I know that there is now a "heel down wah off" software setting but because I own the "switched" version of the Missin pedal I never tried it. Stubborn that way I guess... ; )
-
I use Mission pedals because they work well after steppin all over them for over 2 years now. Tuff rugged resilient pedals, or you might like the plastic kind the cool kids have.... ; )

Exactly. Yes, in general, a guitar cab using guitar speakers have a frequency response much narrower that FRFR speakers use. Look at it another way. A 2000 watt power amp doesn't usually "use" all that much wattage all the time, but they are bought for the "head-room" involved so that the levels of "punchy lows" and "clean mids" and highs don't run out of energy (power) during the peaks (like a drum hit for instance). Its the same way for FRFR speaker frequency responses (Headroom in frequency versus the power example) and I for one would rather have that (for the occasional harmonics) and not need it on both sides of the frequency spectrum, versus needing it and...., well, you get my point. And with this, you can always (like Dune pointed out) remove what you don't want/need. But the "main" reason for FRFR speakers is because they are (good ones) FLAT. So when you use a good IR/Profile/fake noise, it will represent what was intended.
