M O O N that spells soon! :P

Me and the "don't give a lollipop" crowd can use it like it is now. That said, I still think its a bit to sensitive/jumpy...

This is one of my pet peeves with Line-6. Nope, you are not alone. I finally sold my DT-50. I "expected" Line-6 to fix this at some point, but now looks as if they painted/designed themselves into a digital corner and couldn't. Sure I understand the whys of that, but dont name the port the same and then expect no one to say anything later when it won't act the same. Yep, even though the trademarked port names are the same for both the HD series and Helix units, they do not act the same midi control wise, which is a shame on many levels. Since I was amp heavy anyway, the lesser of 2 evils for me (and because of the frustration factor involved over this issue) was to finally sell the DT amp and keep Helix, but I still feel like there was a bit of sales bamboozlement in naming both ports the same name, even if they clearly don't act the same. As far as using the HX unit with an HD-500, that actually might work well!

It seems opinions vary on the tuner in Helix and how its supposed to react while tuning, and that's not unusual. I know from my experiences with it, it works, I cant set intonation with it but then it's not made for that purpose, and compared to other tuners I've used in the 40 years give or take I've used one, the one on the Helix display (not the one on the controller) is jumpy/sensitive as hell compared to a regular tuner. That's about as bluntly honest as I can be about it.

Very nice!

Sane you say?

Using a pair of 8-year-old Mackie HR824's for most of my "monitoring" with Helix/DAW work here. And if I want more I just flip a switch and use the Friedman ASM-12's. Both are just awesome but the ASM-12's are a bit pricey (and rightfully so). What the user said above, the speakers are where most of your tone arrives from. And so when you 1st start out with Helix be sure and run it thru some good monitors too, or you basically have a Porshe with no tires, so to speak. ;)

Using the Expression Pedal to Switch Between Snapshots?
spikey replied to dankleiner's topic in Helix
Is your Helix a rack unit, and do you have the controller for it? Not being snarky, but Isn't that what the buttons on it are for? I'm not sure if that can even be done, but we shall see. :) -
Don't ya just love those contractual deadlines regarding release dates? Those lawyers never seem to hear the QA dept. screaming their heads off....
-
When you state "Once I turn the hx effects on" , does the update instructions tell you to switch off the unit 1st before running the updater program?
-
Yea I kinda agree. The Firehawk 1500 has amp models and fx like some of the other Line-6 products have, yet it has its own forum slot.

My opinion- There are already too many things attached to Helix that take away from its main purpose, a guitar processor with great tone. As always, YMMV and that's ok. :)

Yep Freq-Out (I have one) will sustain the note or a harmonic of. But I don't think it does what a sustainic pickup does. I don't have the pickup yet but want one. As far as Helix being able to copy it I believe Cru is right. Don't think so.

So kiddies, the moral of this story is "buy more new boxes" !!!!! :D

I use a SP1-L6 Mission pedal for wah in Helix. I adjusted the "tension" of the switch so that its a light touch on/off. You do that by simply moving the switch up or down via the nut- easy peasy....

After you get the audio/drivers input-output setup correct, be sure and read/search for setting up Windows 10 for audio, as there are settings you want to use for a DAW in a windows OS.

To me, it depends on the content included. I might just pay for the content if it had lots of things I wanted in it. Take Glenn Delaune's excellent patches for example, should he charge for these patches that everyone else could make themselves? You see, it's not the patches he sells that you are buying, but the idea and designs behind them. ;) The same goes for these Helix updates. But I don't think for a second those updates for Helix are free. While I appreciate the updates being at no cost for us, they are not cheap by any means to make. They are time-consuming, adding frustrating time restraints involved to release within reasonable time frames, and requires hiring highly technical people to code, and most times impossible to please everyone when it's finally released. Time involved is like what the goblins in Warcraft might say..., "Time is money friend!" ... :D For example, I paid a hefty price for my Apollo quad audio interface but basically its a boat anchor without those expensive plugins you can purchase for it, which I do own. Should I get them free because I "paid the price" as was stated? Is that an add-on, or an upgrade? And shouldn't the devs that make these nice updates and add-ons for us get something in return (Like Glenn for example) for them at some point? In a dream world that would be nice if everything was free just because you paid for Helix, but that's not how the real world works my friend. :)

Hi Makron and welcome to the forums! You might wish to add an idea for helix Here. This is the place that Line-6 looks at ideas from the Helix user base. :)

And yer also very modest. A mere hanger-on huh? I think not. You may not get a pay-check from them but I can't count the number of times where you have helped others out here, including me. :D

The Lonestar amp and Friedman!

Well, I'm just a bit upset. Ya know, Id hate to have to deal with the GP on a daily basis. Its damned if they do, and damned if they don't. What am I babbling about now? For YEARS we wanted more input and status reports from Line-6 here on the forums of things they were working on. Now when they (Thanks, DI) "finally" start doing this, start giving us some information on whats is coming and suggesting it would be here "soon", there are complaints about teasing us. Really? Ya know, At this point If I were Line-6, id just say F um all an feed um big fat flounders on Friday, and tell um the release will be finished someday when we decide, or maybe not at all. Jeeeeeeze I can't believe that no matter what is done or how they word it, it's just not good enough.

So ya hired a new guy to port over old stuff and left all the old guys on Helix to add and fix the new stuff.... Makes sense to me. ;)
