  1. Plus, there's always room for another new processor at some point. A helix update or new unit announcement on whatever is good for us, although I can't imagine it sounding better tone wise for the most part. I've also noticed that Fractal has been trying as of late to move the Axe FX 2 XL+ by discounting it from $2149 to $1799.00. There's a new Axe on its way soon I'm thinking. All of this is good for us, the guitar player! :)
  2. Yep, cru is right. There will always be something newer/leaner/neener/sweeter later on. All companies must move on at some point to make a profit. Computer parts, cars, software, Hell even toilets get updated over time... But waiting for that newest toilet model to finally arrive so's you can take a dump might be a problem eh? ;)
  3. If I wanted wireless for my guitar processor there are many options available now and many more options coming down the pike. I'd rather keep the guitar processor a "guitar processor" and not another Ronco "it slices- it dices" everything else kitchen sink too product. This add everything idea takes away from its real purpose (and memory availability for added guitar sounds and amps later). There is only so much available memory for extra stuff, and I'd rather that be used for future FX and tones. Yea I know it does a lot already in this regard . Size wise, Pretty soon we will have all these adds available in our eyeglasses. ;)
  4. Helix sounds are really nice, and just closing your eyes and playing amounts to owning every amp/cab it is copying. And the multiple Aux sends are wonderful as Helix can be the "center" of your studio. OTOH, L6-Link does NOT work "midi control wise" like it does on the HD500 series. Hope this helps a bit more in the decision.
  5. No, it does not, even though they are named the same and look the same on BOTH units. One of my "Major" pet peeves because to me it a bit of sale's "bamboozlement", not to mention using the same trademark name for two totally different working ports "midi control wise". If Helix didn't sound so good otherwise, I would have dumped it long ago. But it does... And so I am grateful for that...
  6. One reason why I went with a rack unit and "foot" controller with just "switches" on the front that you are to step on. Even with that, I'm thinking anything that you stomp on continually will eventually break. Nature of the beast.
  7. WOOOOOHOOO no more Mondays!!!!
  8. If you cant tell by now I'm one of those repair people, so yea I do give a rats patootie cause I know how reliable some are, and how hard they are to fix. ;) And they are not all made the same. As for buying the product brand in relation to this thought process, that's like getting on a major airline and hoping that the pilot can fly the airplane. All we can do is hope the quality is there inside the cockpit when you take off and land. So far, the power supply has not failed in my Helix. So far its been a good trip... :) I do think that there is a case made for that example for many products. Les Pauls are one, as this helps them sustain the note forever. Wouldnt want an M1A1 Abrams made out of cardboard would ya? Or a battleships anchor made from lightweight plastic?
  9. Last update- The new firmware on the Firehawk 1500 won't work with an iPad 2... At least it will NOT on mine. I'd be interested to know if it works on anyone else's iPad 2?
  10. Switching power supplies are indeed nice and lightweight, but have you ever tried to repair one that is dead? You see it works differently than regular power supplies in that there is (for the most part) no voltage references to troubleshoot by when there's a problem. They are either on and working well of broken with no voltages to work with in finding the problem. Thus "easter egging" it parts wise or pop and swap are your options. They do work well until they don't and then they can be a BIOTCH to repair. :P Agree with you on the "less weight = better sound". If that were true no one would be playing Les Pauls... :)
  11. yep thats nice too, except when they updated the firmware "away" from my iPad 2. Now I cant use its remote editor.
  12. Lightweight helps the back alright, but it doesn't always mean better-sounding equipment. Not only that but these days the term "digital" is thrown around like a frisbee. Yea I know, even toasters are "digital" these days.... Usually, that sales hook line means they can charge more for it, and its an unrepairable and expensive pop and swap item when it does break the 1st couple months past the warranty... As always YMMV. ;)
  13. Yep that 1500 is heavy but boy does it sound good with Helix!
  14. I do the same thing with a Line 6 Firehawk 1500 (into the Return from Helix out mono) and yes, it does sound amazing.

    QSC K10.2

Yep, what jbuhajla said... All the way up those K10's should break windows close by. I have heard (not tried) that the K10's work out better than the K12's (have tried these) because of a less low end. Personally, I'm running ASM-12's and luv um.
  16. I'm not dismissing anything either. I'm just saying that Helix is not a reverb pedal first and foremost, just like Big Sky isn't a guitar processor. That said, surprises are always nice and I'd really like the Helix devs to surprise me on this.
  17. Agreed. Thanks, Scott!
  18. If its anywhere as good as BigSky is (yes I own and use one), then yes I will be very excited and surprised as well. Phil has usually been spot on in most areas here so that's why I'm holding judgment on this till I hear it, and not off handily dismissing this as total and complete BS. ;)

    Happy...

Nice gitfiddles there glide- and Merry Christmas to all my Helix brothers (and sisters) !
  20. +1 on all. To the OP yes, it can be as simple as removing the IR. But as already stated the best thing is try stuff (with a fresh set of ears). Play for 15 minutes, then go get a cup and think about what you did. Come back in an hour and tweak again for 15 minutes. After the second or third time, you will have it dialed in! ;)

    Brit P75 models

Agreed very nice amp and gorgeous LP!
  22. Timeframe on this or is it already done and I just dunno yet? ;)
  23. Just got back into this after a bit- Life and work ..., sometimes takes me away from Helix... Anyway, Phil (or anyone), In the above settings, do you have your Mobius on one FX-loop and your Big-Sky on another FX-loop, or do you have the "daisy chained" audio-wise thru one FX-loop? Also. when I set up two (or more) "Snap-Shots" with different names on each one (and then go into the command center for snapshot #1 and set up the midi channel, Bank CC00, and Program #, and then save those settings to snapshot #1), when I goto snapshot #2 and change things (pedal programs) in the command center for that snapshot and then save it, when I go back into snapshot #1 it now shows what I just saved for snapshot #2???. In Other words, it saves the last command center settings for the snapshot that I am on, and overwrites all other snapshots to the last settings saved. This cant be right... If I can save different settings from my pedals per snapshot, what am I doing wrong then? Once I figure all that out, then how do I "by-pass" settings then on Strymon pedals with a Helix controller (Rack and controller) ? Edited: I see you are leaving the Midi CC#00 and Midi CC#32 off. I had the Midi CC#00 on because that is what Strymon talks about being the 1st 32 patches (or some such) and if you wanted to switch presets you needed that set to "0" and not off. Obviously. with Helix, you dont. I'm now being able to switch settings on Mobius using different Snapshots, but still working on how to "bypass" the sound from Mobius via midi entirely with Helix Command Center.
  24. Yea Ill try off the top of me pointed head Law... The editor shows 4 signal paths in the patch, with a 10 band EQ at the front of each path, all set to different frequencies from low to high. He increased some and decreased others, I remember the 500 hz being -10db down. Sorry I have my copy at work, and dont remember all of the freqs so Get a copy in January 2018 at Wallyworld or Hastings if yer interested. The writer talks about the fullness of the sounds compared to the "one" path "one" amp sound. What I was wondering was if someone had actually done it yet and what they thought of the idea...
