Possibly dumb question about Helix Floor and Helix Control
spikey replied to bassguy129's topic in Helix
Or just sell your unit, and order a rack and controller. And yer right, there will always be an idiot with a beer next to your equipment (sometimes it's you ;) ) so protect it as best you can. -
And letting him know this earlier would not have gotten his replacement to him any sooner because you still would have been out of stock and the weekend would have still happened, but thanks for stepping up in any case and taking the hit Will. AND, I also think the OP should edit his opening title to included "resolved".

You shipped on 9/13 with a label Line-6 sent you so there was no shipping fee, and got a reply back on 9/19 from Line-6 that a new replacement unit had shipped to you, and you are upset? With a 6 day turnaround? Really?

:P Frankly (and don't call me frank), if you have played for a while and are savvy on the tone you're after, why give a s#it about who plays Helix? I mean, it'll sell itself tone wise or it won't.
-
I know where you are going with this- as I use the same idea with my Helix into a Firehawk 1500. :)

Maybe this might help? https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/setting-up-your-interface-with-studio-one/

Thanks for the tip!

Each speaker/ IR/cab sounds (as it should) different. Mixed together they may sound better (or worse), depending on the cabs chosen.

Are you playing in a hot area? that might be the issue if you are. Separate the problem. Try Helix without the Variax and see if it happens again. Then switch back to the Variax thru the VDi port and see if it happens again. If it does happen using the Variax either the Variax/VDi cable is dying/bad or Helix has an issue. If it happens using a regular guitar then its Helix (or the associated cables/pedals etc etc). Also be very careful (if it's a rack unit) as the Variax port and the controller port are close, don't mixum up.

Ok Ive got to ask, why would you buy Helix and never open the box? BTW- best of luck selling! :)
-
Correct. Even when you don't think you need to. And then save those backups "OFF" the hard drive on CD's or flash drives or sumtin... Understood and I probably would not have expected Helix to burp like that either (mine never has). If it's new and does this again (you may need to to do a mass import /export test a hundred times to see), return it for another cause that's not normal OP for Helix.

Nice and functional setup! Grats!!! :D

The way I used Tripleplay was to trigger (send midi) to VST "Synths" (Arturia, Absynth, etc), with the guitar, via the wireless Tripleplay UAB dongle.

To me- (notice I said ME), Where the AXE FX shines is in its metal/hard rock tones, its wah editing, and especially it's "on board effects". Very well known players busy playing at sold out concerts use the AXE FX for its effects on their guitar systems. That says a LOT. Not that Helix can't sound very good at Metal or Hard Rock too. But where Helix just kills the Axe FX II (for ME) is with the breakup tones thru a Bluesbreaker or Fender amp. I never could get the Axe FX II to sound right for those tones, and believe me i tried.

You might relook at that list and notice what each one mention's in text there. To be a bit fairer, more than a few of them mentioned just how good Helix was to them. That tells me that they are using (or have used) Helix either on stage, at home, and/or in the studio. Maybe all three. We can split hairs here over that point, but it was something worth mentioning don't you think? A total of 26 (out of 58) did mention how awesome Helix is (yes, I counted). That's damn near half... Not picking, but 26 is a "few" more than a "few" isn't it?... I mean Since we are being "fair" and all. ;)

I see... Send um a cleaning bill, after they pay you for playing of course. ;)

I remember loading the OS from a cassette tape on my Vic-20... And was one of the 1st guys to play against another across town here using 28.8 on Falcon 3.0!
