  1. Please help! Popping and banging when changing effects. Other glitches include: Poly sustain freaking out and sustaining previous chords, also a random global settings change where tapping up and down on bank mode just went through each bank individually rather than up/down a page. None of this happened before in previous software, also I re-installed previous firmware and it all worked normally. Have reset to factory multiple times (with and without using my old back ups) and updated using both Line 6 updater and HX Edit Update: after loads of updates and exploration i've found that it may just be when the Kinky Boost is selected, the reverbs bang when you scroll through them. Does anyone else have this issue?
  2. I'm not sure the best way to explain this so I'll do my best. I'm using the Helix Floor to control Logic Pro X. Mostly using Hotkeys but sometimes I send MIDI notes from it as well. Most of the time, it works perfectly. However, every now and then, the message I'm sending from the Helix to Logic will stick, as if it were set to "latching" instead of "momentary". So, for example, if I sent a message to Logic to start playback, it glitches out and starts playing the first .01 seconds of the song continuously until I go in change the message it's sending (which is the only way I've figured out how to stop it after it starts). Has anyone else encountered this problem or maybe have any advice on how to prevent this altogether? I'm primarily using this in a live setting which makes this situation very nerve-wracking. Thanks so much!
  3. Hi all, I have my HX Stomp XL set to snapshot mode. When I hit the mode button to change to stompbox mode the display does not change to show pedal names (only the footswitches changes color) and it still shows snapshots which is quite confusing while performing! Does anyone know how to fix this? Best, Nick XL_snapshot_mode.HEIC XL_stompbox_mode.HEIC
  4. My goodness, my adding a HD500 to become a basic audio interface to a mac (High Sierra) was a challenge. I am adding this as a public service in hopes of saving people time. I installed Line 6 Monkey and almost smoothly adding all the drivers etc, but when it came to the flash update, it wasted a lot of time. I alternated using the downloaded file to downloading it fresh, to unplugging the HD500 to restarting the mac to nav R power on to nav down power on etc etc.Reading, trying, reading, trying.... It kept saying the new flash was installed on the Monkey, then it just stopped. The SOLUTION was to roll back to the 2nd last recent Flash version. I have a Helix too and have gone through most POD products. My question to Line 6 is why leave glitchy software/ firmware in circulation. It makes me want to get a Fractal FM3. haha (I'm on the waiting list). Anyways, hope it helps someone out there save some time.
  5. I am having some glitches in my POD HD PRO X. The volume and other settings are changing automatically. How do I fix it?
  6. Hey all, I have a Variax 300 given to me by my friend who was no longer using it. Came without a power supply and it drained batteries super quickly so I bought a second hand XPS Mini to power it. I've been using it for a week now and it works, however, I find that when I select some of the guitar 'types' the sound comes out glitchy. If I let a note play out it'll warp (sort of turning off and on again but in a strange way). Curiously this only seems to happen on the t-model, spank, lester and occasionally special modes. Anyone have any experience or advice for this? I can play without them but it cuts down the functionality of the guitar. I do not have access to a USB interface so flashing is not currently possible.
  7. Hi gang, It seems the Helix Rack's looper can't stop playback and start a new recording whilst in playback mode unless it receives a stop-playback MIDI CC message first. It also seems the stop-playback message needs to be received 20-21ms before the start-recording message, otherwise the latter is sometimes/often not acknowledged. Is there any way to have the start-recording function override and force playback to stop? Or alternatively is there an adjustable setting that'll make the Helix process the pair of stop/start of messages quicker? I'm looking for immediacy with this so I can emulate glitching effects. Sending the two messages within 15-20ms is useable yet unreliable, and anything under 15ms registers only the stop-playback message, leaving the start-recording message overlooked. Anything above 21ms is consistently reliable, but the latency is off-putting. What are my options? Cheers! Dawes
  8. After update many presets (not all) had no output. Seems that any preset that reroutes to path 2A or 2B is muted BECAUSE the input to 2A/B defaults to none and there is no option to select 2A/B. Rerouting the output from 2A to XLR,1/4 inch outputs reestablish's output but the 2A path seems unavailable. Updated the firmware on my Helix floor unit to 2.8. All went smooth and backed up before update. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanx
  9. "auto-calibration" doesn't work at all. I read somewhere that manual calibration was removed at some point early in the firmware lifecycle, a glaring mistake in my opinion. The Helix doesn't give me consistent EXP operation. I have four pedals: Roland EV5, Yamaha EP1, Ensoniq CVP1 and EHX Next Step EXP —none of them work, all of them are inconsistent. The Roland only covered a span of 50% at the full heel to toe range. the Yamaha goes from 0% to 100% to 11%, the Ensoniq goes from 0 to 100% to 0% in a single sweep. I went and researched how these pots work to try and hypothesise why the Helix glitched with TRS pedals of varied brands. I own a BOSS GT8 and it simply works with all of them. What bothers me the most is that the Ensoniq and Yamaha did work properly on the HD500X. One of the reasons I upgraded to the Helix was the possibility of using two external expression pedals, hence the disappointment when they didn't work. The EHX EXP pedal I mentioned didn't work with either the Pod or Helix. EDIT: I avoided expensive and heavy iron cast pedals like the Mission Engineering EP1, or the Ernie Ball that use a fragile cord to crank the pot. I purposely use plastic options because they are lightweight. EHX released a conventional passive expression pedal this past July and M-Audio sell the EX-P pedal which offers a linear and CW/CCW switch that make it compatible. scroll down for a practical solution to avoid modding to use on the Helix and fix the dreaded forward-backward glitch.
  10. Hey gang! Ran into a weird issue when connecting the HD500(X) with a DT50 using the L6 Link. The display would flash the "knob settings screen" and lock-out operation of the knobs and buttons. Initially, I kind of cured it by reconnecting the link after changing the Setup, Page 1 - AMP/KNOBS DISPLAY to "Momentary: OFF." Then I noticed my HD500 presence knob operation was erratic, but if I used the DT50 presence knob instead, it was fine. Did some more investigating and here's what I discovered, purely through trial and error. Why it happened and the fix: In Setup, Page 1, (press and hold "View"), I had set the footswitch mode (FS Mode) from "ABCD" to "5-8" so that I could run multiple effects and turn each of them on/off with a dedicated footswitch. My DT50 didn't like that when using the L6 Link. I had to disconnect the L6 Link cable to get the buttons and knobs to respond again. I changed the footswitch mode back to "ABCD", reconnected the L6 Link and everything worked fine, This one took me some time to figure out, so I thought I'd pass it along for anyone else with the same issue. I let Line 6 know and suggested a software update so that we control freaks can run 8 dedicated footswitches when using the L6 Link. Ha!
  11. Hi folks, I have a Bass Pox xt which I am using via USB with Ableton Live 9. When I use the Pod ASIO settings, I am getting some bad white noise / distortion sounds when I am playing loops. Its infrequent and cuts in randomly over the audio. The bizarre thing is, I have a second PC, a laptop - where I have created the same environment where I get no distortion. Thing is, I really want to use my desktop. No matter what I do with the audio settings, buffers etc, I get the exact same distortion - There is no CPU overhead as it will do so with just one looped drum sample - I cant even jam to a drum machine. Anyone had similar issues? Cliff
  12. Hi everyone, I wondered if anyone else has encountered this issue the bass podxt pro. I am currently using it as a digital effects unit in logic pro 9, via my spdif in and out on my focusrite pro 14 interface. Essentially when you use the external insert effect plug in when you send the bass pod a stereo or mono signal, it returns it in stereo with the left channel effected by the bass pod, and the right channel without. Is this supposed to happen? However, when I plug the bass pod via usb, and still use the focusrite as the audio interface, it returns the stereo send, this time as a mono return. None of this is mentioned in the manual (obviously), and havent found any other posts on the forum about it. What you have encountered? Is this supposed to happen? And is there a way to fix this, other than within logic (which is a pain in the back-side)? I need my usb port free for hard drives! Thanks for reading, Matt
