The Helix controller was built for controlling Helix (duh statement). :P There are not just software considerations involved but hardware ones as well, to make it into something else. The very best midi controller and one you might take a look at is the FCB1010. It even allows you to change the operating chip/firmware to work with other hardware (if available). If it can't do what you want I don't really know what can.

I'm using a TRS cable from my Ernie Ball pedal for volume control into the Helix Controller, and it works just fine (as it should). The controller 1/4" port won't see the "center" part of a TRS cable because the ground is most likely touching it higher up on the shaft (as most 1/4" connectors ports of that kind do). Even if it gets into the (center) middle part of the TRS cable its not being used, so it shouldn't matter.

Well Fudd. I just tried to install the latest version of the Firehawk 1500 editor on my iPad 2, which has the latest software ver 9.3.5. The new Firehawk 1500 editor requires Version 10.0 or greater, which is NOT designed for the iPad 2. Really Line 6, Why the incompatibility now? It worked fine before you updated the app to run on iOS 10, an OS firmware I can't update to, and now I can no longer use this app on my iPad 2. Not only me, but those running an iPhone 4s, iPad 3, and an iPad Mini can't run iOS 10 either according to Apple...! So I guess William Devane and I can just run out and get a new iPad, huh... Grrrrr..... 0

On the TC Helicon Talkbox Synth, I wonder do you have to "sing" the phrases into the mic for it to work, or do you just move your mouth on the mic (like on a tube thru a Banshee 2)? Edited: Just RTFM. it states: Using the Pedal, Vocalize into the mic while playing guitar to hear the effect. Don’t worry about singing in tune; the pitch of the effect comes from your guitar.

For the record, that's what I was saying too... Please re-read it. I see it this way (and many are saying the same things :P ) . The way it works in reverse (the amp's tube outputs seeing a short, rather than the correct load) is much worse on the amps output section, believe me. A short to an amp can be a cabs 4-ohm load when the amp is looking for an 8-ohm load. The overcurrent thru the amp's output (when the amps output is mismatched in less a load than it needs) is when you eventually blow up the output section on your tube amp. OTOH, If you're running a 16-ohm cab and the amp is looking for a 4-ohm load the only thing that should happen (as long as the amp wasn't about to blow up in the 1st place and the 4x12 cab is working properly) is that it will not be as loud as it would be if the amps output impedance is matched with its cab. Less power transfer= less noise/output. In other words, the power from the amp is being used trying to push wattage thru too big an impedance (resistance and reactance to current flow) for the amp and not utilizing the speaker (load) properly.
-
And that's the way its supposed to work. Like Cru stated, As long as the impedance of the amp is less than the Cabinet (and your cab/speaker can handle the wattage) you won't hurt the amp, but a closer match gives you better efficiency/output.

That statement pretty much nailed a positive reason for lots of users looking for a pair of very reasonable priced FRFR monitors. I've thought about getting a pair myself, but I have the Firehawk 1500 and very satisfied with it.
-
Agreed, they are much better than they used to be. For example, I use a X2442USB mixer and just love it.
-
What I think Hamm meant was that you can listen to Helix without an audio (even on if you have one) Interface , by just using a mixer and having your speakers (powered or otherwise depending on the mixer) hooked to it.
-
Guitar Interface yes, audio Interface no if you have room, and the funds for another, and if u move Helix around much. Honestly, I'm much happier (and I'm sure some will disagree and that's ok) in using Helix for exactly what I bought it for, which was a kickass guitar processor. Nice to have a "backup" audio interface if I needed one too lol... :P
-
I use a Firehawk 1500 for "another" FRFR choice (I also use a pair of Mackie 824's in my studio) and I think it works out very well with Helix.
-
I run a UAD Apollo "quad" and prefer it as my Audio Interface, and yes I do think it is superior for one because of the multiple plugins you can add to it. But, I still use Helix as my main "guitar Interface". As always YMMV. ;)

Not only is Helix damaged, I hope your Marshall's head was not damaged as well.

Your audio interface, good software, and tested drivers are what allows the low latency to "listen" to tracks while you record another without pops or crackles or a complete crash. Using a decent host software can help as long as you have the machine to run it. Cubase 9, Logic X, Sonar (for PC), and even Pro Tools are worth the software ticket price.

Unless you prefer a better audio interface and just want to use Helix for what its main intended purpose was/is, a killer guitar processor... ;)

I kinda did the same thing, Rumnarv. I first set Helix to midi Channel # 5. Then set the Mobius to channel #1, TimeLine to #2, and BigSky to #3. But I used the "top" Instant commands for "Bank/Prog" and underneath them (in line ) I used the footswitches for the CC "on/off" Toggle. Then I named them using the Custom Label area and set their LED color as I like. I currently have the BigSky set to an "Instant" using just spring Reverb for all patches so far. In this way I would love to be able to use more than just 1 setting with Mobius ( or the rest of them) per patch, and I found I could switch between 2 different patches in the Mobius using the footswitches set to a different midi #, but I then could not figure out how to turn them on and off individually. So I went back to the above for now. :) Fun stuff for sure! And I can tell anyone thinking of doing this, the Strymon pedals just sound AWESOME with Helix!

Yes, and I want a new Corvette for 15k too... ;) Me too, and I see a larger user group being better in the long run for us all (as you do). That said, I can't get a Corvette for 15k, and those that do not have Helix have to pay more for Native. That's the price and if you want it, ya gotta pay for it. Hell, Id have paid extra for a tuner in the editor and I can't even get that!

Yeppers. They are not like a Long John Silvers "Fish and Fries" meal where you used to get 3 pieces of fish and fries. Now you just get one. :P Line 6 has discontinued a product line too soon to suit me (Vetta II), but I do not remember them stating a price when announced, and then releasing it with another.

Some kind of poor example but here goes..., When Propellerhead added VST support a few months ago to Reason, we could not run any UAD plugins on it then without lag, messages and huge latency. The software would just "stop running" when a UAD plugin was used. Guess what- We still can't. They (Propellerhead) were discussing this with UAD and "suggested" it was UAD that was the blame for this (even if the UAD plugins currently work just fine and run well on Cubase, Logic X, etc etc on my end). I am not the only with this issue. There have been some updates, but not much of a peep that I've seen in a solution or fix yet on this issue from Propellerhead. Back to Native- My point is that it may take time to iron out some issues "and just because some companies won't admit there are issues, they do indeed know about um".

I probably already know the answer to this but...., I currently have all 4 FX loops filled with Strymon pedals on the Hardware (Helix). Then comes Helix Native. Is there any way to incorporate these pedals (thru my Apollo Interface) into Helix Native "without" having to take apart my current wireup/setup? Thanks

I don't imagine he even knows you, but if so he'd just say to quit bitching like a little girl and pay for it... ; )

Why are you disappointed in using a 64-bit operating system versus old 32 bit?
