  1. I'm using a dedicated patch in Helix using a 4 cable method (a dedicated FX-Loop) for my Marshall DSL 100h feeding a Torpedo Captor, which I line out into my Mixer( and then into a pair of Friedman ASM-12's). I do all of this because I love the tones I am getting from the Marshall thru the Captor Load box, into a pair of great sounding FRFR speakers. So the point here is there are a thousand ways to setup and use Helix with outboard gear, which is just one reason out of many why I just love it. One thing I might add to get rid of the noise (different ground potential) between Helix and the amp itself is to use a Behringer HD-400 humm Destroyer between the send of Helix and the amp's input. Works like a charm for me!
  2. You did not mention... Did you change guitar cables? Change/try another guitar? You mentioned plugging into the same outlet that your amp is plugged into, do you have a humm buster between the send of Helix and the input of your amp (assuming you are running 4 cable method)?
  3. Adding new cabs is always a great idea.
  4. Another solution is to buy Helix like I did and just enjoy it. You don't need Native for that. ;)

    Ownhammer IR's

Isn't it great that all bands don't sound the same?!? We all hear each IR a little bit differently (as we should) and pick the ones that suite us best. Nothing wrong with trying another IR brand that's available. Spice of life... ;)

    Ownhammer IR's

I like Ownhammer too. Quality IR's that I have used/heard so far.

    dead helix!

Ive left mine on for hours and not seen this issue. Was it by chance overly hot or cold where it was at the time?
  8. Id pay a "Musicman" price for a quality built Variax.
  9. Take it outta Helix? Well, I say add it to the editor! ;)
  10. It does, and the La Grange is different enough to make them a nice pair.
  11. I just want the amp's guitar input (Fender, Gibson, Peavey, etc etc) to see that "Instrument" level send from Helix as the same level, as say a Boss pedal. If the Amp sees no difference between the two (and thus no tone changes), then I'm a happy camper.
  12. This sounds a bit like " we should have already had this out there but spikey won't quit bitchin so".... ;)
  13. I agree, but Id still like to know if using a send (4 cable method) changes the Input Impedance on the input of the Amp versus a straight guitar input, and thus effects its tone. Many players us the 4 cable method with Helix, as do I. In other words and the reason I am being anal (once again) and a bit concerned about all this- If by using a Helix send as an Amp's input really affects the input impedance (and or tone) of the Amplifier, then using a 4 cable method in this way (with Helix) may not be the best (or even a good) option.
  14. If this has been answered before please excuse. Let's say I'm going to use the 4 cable method with Helix and an Amp head, using an FX-Loop send & Return, and the 1/4" mono out of Helix. Aux 1 send to Amp input. Send from Amp into Aux 1 Rtn on Helix. 1/4" Mono out from Helix into the Return on the Amp. Amp pwr speaker out to Cabinet. OK so far? Now, my FX Loop is set to "instrument" level for send and return, from Helix. If I use an Aux send from Helix (to the guitar input on the Amp), what is my input impedance (from that send) at the guitar input on that Amp? Will this be the same as say a guitar & cable to the Amp input? Does the Amp care? Does this even matter? The real question is, if it is "not" like a guitar and cable (input impedance wise), how does this affect the overall tone? Thanks...
  15. So say we skip all that, when is the next update? ;)
  16. In a perfect world, we would not need adjustments on anything. It would just sound "perfect". Sadly we don't live in a perfect world (in any respect), and all of our ears hear differently. There will be a "more detailed" explanation coming of how IR's actually work in Helix, but when that doesn't work for ya please see above. ;)
  17. Depends on the Gym/barn, errr the venue you are playing at. :) If the sound/acoustics are bouncing off walls more than a super-ball does, then you need less reverb. If the room/dancehall is flat, add reverb to taste. Now, I know that today's music doesn't use as much verb like my generation did (50's-60's), but to not use any at all is, well foreign to me (Think Rock-Blues here). I use a touch on nearly everything just cause it adds so much more ambiance to the tone to me. As always, YMMV and that's ok.
  18. Just tell her if you didn't buy them that the company in Alaska wouldn't have wood for the winter...
