    FX loops quality

I have 4 Strymon pedals thru the Aux sends and returns on Helix and they sound wonderful. I have no idea. My Strymon "FX/Loops" are set to 48k sample rate and instrument.
  2. If you pay attention and perform every step as it is outlined you should have no problem. Read that again...No skipping words now... ALL Kidding aside, you would not Believe a number of people that just don't do this...
  3. Depends on whats between the send, and the output. Is there an EQ, or scooping control or something of that nature after the send?
  4. Yes, Helix also has some nice drive pedals but I prefer to also use my "La-Grange and Riverside" pedals too.
  5. You do want to run post effects "after" the JMP-1 preamp, right? To do this, the signal needs to go back into Helix so that you can add those effects (mod, delay, reverb) via the editor/ or front controls. Also, in using Helix before the send to the JMP-1, you can add a wah, eq, and other stomps. If both the send and the output of the JMP-1 are line lvl Im not sure why it would make a difference (other than for normality) to use either one. Make sure that the output is the same level as the send, so that no damage will occur to the Helix return in port. Hope this helped.
  6. System requirements on page 3
  7. Best answer I've read so far... Not that I do not use them cause I do, mainly for recording vocals in a DAW setting next to the monitors.
  8. Some p-90's are just noise-torious. So do whats suggested above and use the noise-gate, or swap the P-90's out for some better ones (they are out there- check out Chris Kinman P-90's).
  9. Thanks DI- Appreciate the info!
  10. Yes, for those that don't ask that question... :P
  11. I can get a Marshall "Code" head that is supposed to emulate many classic Marshall amps, for around $350.00 new. Versus buying a single DSL-100 head for over $800.00 new. Why buy a single DSL-100 amp sound when I could have a room full of tones using the Code series? Because I wanted to... I hope that answers your question... ;)
  12. And sadly the control part of L6-Link. The HD series has the upper hand there. But Helix has the better tone and aux ports out the kazoo!
  13. Luv the shirt no matter the signal path- Great idea!
  14. You will like Helix as long as you are one of those who reads and follows update instructions (not meant as a slam to that 1 % out there that actually had real issues to begin with). ;)
  15. Don't be afraid, you are just setting midi info to other settings (off) per channel. That's all ( and, you wouldn't have to even do that if L-6 Link on Helix worked like it was supposed to). Yea and if frogs could fly... Anyway just use DT-Edit and it works. To redo it back to normal, just hold/pinch the topology (I-IV) and the Pentode/Triode switches together and power on, hold until the channel light comes on and yer reset.
  16. Did you download and use the latest Line-6 updater software for updating? http://line6.com/software/index.html
  17. The lesser expensive audio interfaces you are probably correct in be a bit noisier. The Apollo's, Motu's M64, and Avid's HD model should not be a bit noisy and in fact be quieter. Point is, as with everything you usually get what you pay for, and It's nice to see that the beta testers are liking what they are hearing in Native.

    Helix

I never tried a 10", but the 12"s were just too bassy for my tastes. As always YMMV.

    Where is Native?

What kind of audio interface are you guys using that helps Native software sound like Helix? Surely it's not a soundblaster card? ;)

    Helix

Lots of good powered FRFR speakers out there for Helix. I like the Line 6 Firehawk 1500, and the Atomic CLR. I also use a pair of older Mackie HR824's in the studio. Of course Line 6 makes some nice powered speakers specifically for this too. It's really how much you want to spend and what you will be satisfied with in the end.
  21. As long as the tuner works in the editor...
  22. Luv my Helix. That said... The L-6 Link port on Helix does NOT have the control software abilities like the HD series does, even thou the "Trade Marked" name is "exactly" the same and it looks "exactly" the same. Yes, there are work around's but the functionality is way different even with those workarounds. Oh yes, and there is no tuner for the editor...
  23. I use an old DOD 240 Resistance mixer for multiple in's/ one out (so that I don't wear out the Helix input Jack). I can't tell that it sucks tone out in using it, as it sounds good to me ( that's all that matters ;) )
  24. I just think sometimes we get lucky and talk to the right people, no matter what business it is. And other times, well.... See above...
