Meaningless? Well, obviously it is for some. If that's how I choose to feel, like its wrong to feel this way? Really? As far as I'm concerned it's not the way "you" should feel about this. Yea, I'm saying you are wrong-headed on this one Silver (if that's indeed the case). If I'm wrong then I wonder If the update itself is meaningless to you as well? My point is, Just because we know Helix will be updated at some point has nothing to do with (or make it meaningless) reporting the information 1st to the Helix Forum that was made to discuss this very information. Why even come here if the information about Helix will be posted elsewhere?

Thanks for that info, otherwise we would have to go elsewhere to get it I guess? Please forgive if I missed it, and I guess DI can post stuff about Helix upgrades/updates where ever he wishes. That said, I'm a bit mystified ( and annoyed) as to why this info was not posted here ?... Then again maybe this isn't the right forum any longer for Helix information like this, or updates and info? Just asking (and I asked over there too why it wasn't mentioned here)... BTW I stay annoyed so don't take it personally but I would like to know why update info on Helix winds up on the Gear Page 1st? ; )

Then Don't. Keep your Kemper ( I have one too and agree it has just KILLER tones and I wont get rid of mine either) and buy the HX FX as RV stated above. In fact, I'm not sure why I didn't think of this route (even thou I love my Helix as well)... Tones aside for the moment, the sheer amount of in's and outs on Helix (my rack) are worth the price of admission. So a bit of overkill, but you could even run the KPA in Helix using Helix as an overblown patch bay, so to speak...

Nice work on finding and then reporting that info coda! I too have my Variax 500 (and my Vetta 2). And I agree with the OP, there needs to "more" support for the Variax 500 in Helix but I realize that is just another pipe dream (just like Line-6 fixing the midi control in L6-Link)... Helix is an awesome sounding box thus the reason I still own one, but there are lots of little things (like this stuff) that would make it even better I'm thinking. But OTOH, the general business mindset for supporting older products usually is "that's not moving forward" so let's make new products and sell them. Line-6 follows this mindset to a "T", and for all practical purposes, their bank account is (guessing here) in the black because of it. So, it would take some sort of "Jesus in the sky" event for them to ever change the way they make money. Sigh.... That leaves lots of folks (me included) with "dead-on-arrival" wishes I'm afraid. Like that "tuner" in the editor I've wanted.... ; )

Hook up something else on that same cable/usb port. See if it links up ok.

A while back (sorry I can't find the thread now- I did look) I commented on the fact that after I installed the FH 1500 update (a while ago) the original remote editor app I had installed on my iPad 2 ceased to work. I recently re-installed this app to recheck this same issue, and the app installer asked be if I wanted to install the "older" version, in which case I said yes. BAM, it now WORKS AGAIN!!!! Wooohoooo!!!! I don't know when this was added or if I just missed it from the get-go, but it functions now! So just wanted to throw this out there for those with an older iPad 2 like I have....

Are you speaking for Line-6 as well Cru? They (Line-6) do "in fact" read this forum and could do this if they wanted to. So since it hasn't happened I'm guessing you are the PR guy on this and the answer is still a no. ; )

Silver is right- others have listed problems with Helix when connected to Phantom power. Running Phantom/48 volts into the XLR in/outs of Helix is a no-no since they were not / are not designed for that voltage. I wouldn't do it but as always, YMMV all the way to the repair shop. ; ) if that's the case I would still use a DI so that the sound guy can make a mistake and it won't matter.

If you needed to know- High Sierra OS is the highest my late 2009 can use as well, and FYI it runs Native, Helix Editor, and most DAWs just fine. Getting Stomp I agree is the way to go, and I would own one too if not for owning Helix already. Best of luck and Merry Christmas!

Only a mirror is relevant in that regard. However, the best looking guy in the world (besides me) can look great in the mirror and have crap for an attitude. Welcome to the FRFR world, where mud is and always will be king until you learn how to tweak it out correctly. Reading here and You-Tube will be your best friend there. An old adage is "you get what you pay for". OTOH, I have some 30-year-old K240's that work great. Depends on you mostly and what you want to do. That said, working with headphones is fine at home, but try not to use this method if playing at volume on stage. Why? Your tones won't be right in most cases. As always YMMV.

Yes, it is. I'm using the "corse" setting and its stable as a rock now and also matches the floor controller too!!!

Just use the "amp" only (and no cabinet), and you have what you want.

Any amp will work, but there is no FX loop on that head, and to use Helix with FX before and after the Amp (4 cable method) you really need to purchase an amp with an FX loop.

I don't have one but, Is the HX able to switch from a Mic to a line setting on the FX loop? Maybe the send into the HX is line and the HX is set to recieve Mic/ Instrument levels?

This has come up before and I step in doodoo every time I talk about Native not sounding like Helix does (to me), using the "same" expensive UAD Apollo Audio Interface. In other words, I use my Helix Rack every time I record guitar and use Native only when I am inside a DAW just playing around noodling for sounds. Many others swear by Native, however, so this could be just me and or my setup. I "also" had an Eleven Rack, and liked the sounds it produced. That said, I dont think it holds a candle to Helix (or my Kemper Profiler).

And I'm the one that has a problem with opinions? lol... And yes you did exactly what Hamm stated, you jumped to conclusions, many times. Starting with Line 6 not performing as you would have liked with the patch instead of thanking them for the efforts made, and then thinking that I'm caring enough about not standing for anything you might have said or done. Don't let me confuse you, this isn't about you at all bud. It's about not blaming the Company that just fixed stuff under the hood and added to Helix, for "nothing".

Yea, I'm pretty much sure most thought you were saying "Line 6 suxs cause they didn't give you what you expected. And I'm not interested in anything you might have for "help" bud. All I'm saying is that you made a flat statement, and you were called on it... Line 6 did their job. You now are trying to weasel yer way out from under the crap pile you've dug yourself into. You can keep digging in that pile, or admit that you might have not said what you really meant until later, which was you were a bit disappointed in the content of the patch. In case you have forgotten....
