  1. We must go to TGP and research this! ; P
  2. FYI- I use some TRS cables with my Mission TS controllers (on the Helix controller), and it works just fine. Helix is designed to see only the two TS connections and ignores (by design) the 3rd wire.
  3. Ok I'll bite... So why does a replacement unit have the same issues? Is the replacement gear (from Line-6, not a local store) going out to a customer not checked for functionality or updated to the latest firmware before it is mailed out? Or do I need to ask this over at TGP?
  4. Very nice setup- thanks for sharing Noise!
  5. Helix 2 by the end of Namm!!! (didn't say what year- hehehehehehehehe)
  6. That was an attempt at humor since all news seems to be coming from that place these days... And you are right, it isn't funny.
  7. Thanks for the info Law, I wouldn't run 48 volts Phantom power into my Helix and I don't care if it wont hurt it. Period. Of course, since I didn't pay for anyone's Helix but mine, you all may run whatever voltage you wish into it. ; )
  8. They don't come here much anymore so I think yer both safe. ; )
  9. Agreed. I did move my pair onto tripods, have the same pair and love them. They sound great with Helix and the KPA!
  10. But OTOH they will describe that day for you quite well. As in "it'll be a cold day in hell before I divulge information here, better go to TGP"... ; ) Thanks, Jaybee for the info!
  11. My ears would probably not be able to, however where the UA Apollo shines is with options I.E. the multitude of "built-in" wonderful sounding add-ons you can purchase, and the ability to take the FX workload of those add-ons away from the iMac/PC. Exactly. Helix (I'm sure) will serve as a fine USB Audio Interface. I just don't use it in that way. ; ) My 2 cents is that Helix can serve this purpose just fine I'm thinking, but I myself wouldn't moth-ball my Apollo Quad to use it. In hindsight, I'd rather that Line-6 used that "space" for more guitar processor stuff (like VU meters for example), but that's a moot point now, as it is what it is... Helix is an awesome guitar processor, which also has a very usable audio interface built into it.
  12. I did the same thing Craig, and it works great!
  13. The flatter the response on the receiver the better, but that won't help if your speakers are "tone colored" as well. Most "stereo systems" speakers are colored tone wise for more bass response. If you use one of those speakers with Helix and a cab in the chain, it most likely will sound muddy. In fact, its said that "half" of your guitar tone comes from the box you are playing thru I.E. the speaker cabinet. That's why a Flat response full range (FRFR) class D powered speaker sounds good if the IR(speaker emulation) in the chain was done right too. I have found that I like the built-in factory ones in Helix, but you can add what you want IR wise if those don't suit you.
  14. The same reason I use Strymon pedals (Big-Sky, Time-Machine, Mobius, and Riverside) with Helix. And I'm not alone. They just sound KILLER. Not to state that Helix FX is bad, it is not. Far from it. But there's a difference in getting more FX, versus getting a full spread of differently arranged sounds with sometimes better FX. A bigger and more powerful pallet to use, so to speak. Tone and hearing can be subjective, so please keep reading. I bought Native when it was like $70 bucks on sale a couple of Christmas's ago. I already owned a Helix rack so I didn't need it then but knew that I might need/want it later. As far as using UAD FX in Apollo with Helix (or a Kemper for that matter) is just that they also sound excellent too, and are nicely packaged inside the UAD hardware so it takes some of the work load off your PC/Mac too. Just do yourself a favor and spend an hour on the UAD site (or Strymon site or Youtube) listening to the multitude of FX they offer, thru a good pair of studio monitors, and I'm betting you will really "really" like what you hear in most cases. ; )
  15. Primarily no, it is not marketed as such much because of its "primary function" which is a great sounding guitar preamp. That does not mean it can't serve you well as an Audio Interface if that's all you want, or need atm for recording Helix with. I have not used Helix as an AI because I already have an Apollo, but I'm sure others here can report on how well it does with N.I. or Arturia, or i.K. or etc products.
  16. Studio One 4x is a good DAW to use. And you don't need an expensive audio interface to do what you need to do, but at some point, you may want one once you see what they offer addon FX-wise. Go look at the UAD Apollo series add-ons if you care to know, as its pretty awesome sauce. It's a "great" time to be a musician guys!!!!
  17. Fine, and I hope you get to where you want to be with both units. The only reason I actually said anything is because it was stated that the Apollo Interface was basically for rich professionals, and that's just not the case. Best of luck ipran.
  18. You could reason it that way I guess, but the fact is it costs more because a "dedicated high-end audio Interface" that does more. Again, you get what you pay for usually, so will agree to disagree that it's overpriced compared to everything else these days. Yea I agree and don't understand why that would happen, but it is "His" to do what he wishes. Maybe the UAD got watered next to a plant? Who knows LOL. ; )
  19. I'd have to go over to TGP to ask for that.... ; )
  20. Isn't all this just a "pipe-dream" anyway? I mean, even if 6 blocks is not enough, just what exactly can anyone besides maybe Line-6 "do" about it? Might as well ask for a tuner in the editor...
  21. Your right, that was my point. ; ) True, but OTOH you cant run or add high-end FX plugins on very many of them "at will" like you can the Apollo. ; )
