Yea there were a "bunch" of people (like me) that DUMPED their DT amps after being told that basically, it just couldn't be done... Grrrrrr. I shoulda known better, as the same thing was also said one time about the Variax and alternate tunings.
-
Any ballpark on the "soon" Silver? ; )
-
Interesting. If so, then their direction is not toward a new Helix (as I wrongly predicted by last Holiday Season). So then what "other" direction are they pointed I wonder? A new Variax? Vetta-3 perhaps?
-
LOL. This my friend, I hope is not the "only" thing missing in the patch.
-
you did replace the cable from the Expression 2 port to the Mission pedal? Or is that not how the LT works (sorry I have a Rack model with controller).
-
Anyone have any idea if the upcoming 2.8 patch will include more "Instant action" lightning bolts for midi CC and Bank/Program control? I use both a Midi CC and Bank/Program Lightning Bolt "Per" Strymon Pedal, and that uses all 6 available. I ask because 6 is just not enough if we have to use what we have now (6) to control a pair of PC+'s too, along with 3 Strymon (or any other) pedals.

Brue58ski beat me to it. HX Stomp setup for a minimum set of tones just in case Helix gets a beer rain is what Id do too, and just throw it in one of your larger pockets and yer done!

You will love Nixie! I call it up when using Helix so when I change patches I see Nixie change so I know all is working correctly. Of course, you will need a box that takes the Nixie (midi out from ur midi interface) and Helix Midi out, combines them and sends it out to the Bluesky, and then just return midi from BS to your midi interface. In this way you can control the Blue Sky from Helix (control center) or from Nixie.

The fact that Fractal, Kemper, and Helix (plus others) are out there competing for / trying to capture the market share is a good thing. That in itself means our options will only get better, and that's a very good thing for us, guitar players.
-
Helix gets better and better every update, but anyone can make anything sound bad if they don't take the "time" to learn how to use it.
-
He's just mad because there's no tuner in the editor....

Unless the boys at Line-6 can come up with a "software" signal meter in Helix (or Stomp if it doesn't have one), the meter thing will have to come from your Audio Interface (or something else after the output). Cant hardly add a hardware meter to an already shipped product, but they may be building this as I type this. ; )

Well damn... ; )

Using the AES-EBU (L6-Link) inputs from Helix (Daisy chained from PC+ to PC+) on both.
-
Both Helix and my KPA sounds good with my Ibanez, Fender and Gibson guitars. Convienance wise the Variax wins. The difference for me is when I play back a guitar track I usually can't hear convienance but I tend to notice good tone. Where the Variax shines for me is alt turnings, and that was one of those things perfected after the 1st Variax's were released. In fact one of the "early" L6 guys was saying he didn't think it would ever work correctly and wouldn't be included on Variiax until it did. Thank goodness it worked!

I've been frustrated and angry at Line6 since Helix was released with the "L6-Link" name on the port, but it not working midi control wise any where near what it was with the HD series ones before it, so I will be very glad when the "Trademarked" name (L6-Link) works on Helix as it should have from the beginning. I too will use this port on my 2 PC + 's as I have unhooked midi and adjusting each manually, because of the midi sync.

I've been thru that, here, and not so long ago (before DI). Nicely put, it stinks.

Nice looking setup. I'm not doubting that you liked the sound of your amp better than Helix per your descriptions, but how did your playing improve if the tube feel is just "close" to what Helix offers? Im mean your satisfaction may be met in equipment choices, but how did that change in tone improve your playing? Asking because I've played a while and after a few decades of me playing that it usually takes years for me to see any drastic improvements worth mentioning.
-
You moved from air to water breathing (so to speak) and need time to adapt. Once you take the time and effort in reading, watching on Youtube, and learning your LT you (like the rest of us who have done this) will see the need for Helix in your musical life. But, it takes time and sometimes a while for it to all click in. 14 days, well flies live longer than that.

My mileage on this is I don't think any talented guitar player should buy a guitar just to brag that they had one of those (pocketbook envy), but OTOH I also believe with certain things like nice playing and sounding guitars you usually get what you pay for. Using 45+ years of "it feels right" when I pick it up", tells me Im mostly right about that so I guess we disagree on the costs and its worth a little, but that's ok. Id like to get a nice Taylor acoustic, but I don't expect I'll find the one I want for a grand. But that said, the cheaper variations have their place. For example, some really like the Variax. I have two of um, and unless there's something I'm fixing on one of my other guitars I just won't pick them up. Why? They just don't feel or sound right compared to a LP, nice Fender or even an Ibanez to me, yet many other folks swear by them. I get the concept and understand why they are popular, however. Another ymmv I guess. The bottom line for me is if we are happy with the plank we spank, then its all good ; )

Play one Cru, and I bet you change yer mind just like I did. ; ) It is really "not" a strat clone, even if the curves are familiar... It doesn't even sound like a Strat should sound, but it does sound good in "many" different pickup configurations/ways. Watch the multiple videos on YT and see what I mean. As I said, I played Strats for decades and Gibsons for longer. I still have them, play them and love them, but this model AZ2204 and the Jem 7V have opened my eyes and ears, and attitude. They sound and feel amazing! There really is another major player out there I too have ignored for years, having kinda the same mindset you have, and I was flat wrong. The Ibanez models I mentioned are the new kid on the block for me, and they are dead serious about feel and tone.
