I agree with you 99%. Behringer is almost all crap gear. But! My bassist picked up a Behringer 300w bass head for $80 from a buddy, and it is still going strong as his backup. He's had an Ampeg head fail, and his Mark Bass head is giving him fits now. Intermittent silence when turned on etc.. When he found out his wife was divorcing him, he threw the Behringer through a TV and it still works. Moral of the story: my bass player is unlucky.

Why Can't I Post Quotes From Other People ?
stumblinman replied to NucleusX's topic in Line 6 Lounge
It works on my phone, but not on my home PC. Line 6 seems to be having some web issues as of late. -
Nobody's upset man. Text rather than speech makes nuances difficult to pick up. Nothing was meant harshly, merely "matter of fact". If you have more questions once the switch arrives and you crack that Pod open, everyone here is happy to help!

I'm guessing it's held by the solder joints into the PCB. 6 or so points of solder and the shoulder around the shaft may fit into a groove in the topside of the Pod and secure it. Like I said, purely speculation.

Ordering An Hd500x This Weekend, What Accessories Do I Need?
stumblinman replied to justcrash's topic in POD HD
Generally most of my ideas involve drinking. I'm not called stumblinman for nothing. 🻠-
If you have enough money to spend on 4 wireless units, just buy a DT amp and mess with CABLE. Singular.

You can always call fullcompass and ask. Also, if you present the part number to line 6, they may actually confirm or deny if it is the correct one. We like to help here, but asking folks to bust open their gear for you usually won't get too many positive responses. Good luck!

Ordering An Hd500x This Weekend, What Accessories Do I Need?
stumblinman replied to justcrash's topic in POD HD
A great accessory to a brand new Pod HD is alcohol. Have a couple beers while you read the (full-online-only) manual and wait for it to arrive. Then a few more drinks are good while you dink with it for the first time and build some easy patches. Another good accessory is a buddy. let him mess around with it too, because then you can drink and read more, so when you pick it back up you have some more familiarity with it. It's time-consuming to learn well, but oh man, is it worth it. Enjoy! -
Pod Hd500x... The Worst Pedalboard Into The Amp?!?!?
stumblinman replied to nico74's topic in POD HD
The ProCo Rat is great for pushing an amp. Classic distortion, I think it is? Turn drive way down and output up. That filter parameter makes all the difference. -
It's an encoder and switch? Correct? If so, this may be the one. http://www.fullcompass.com/product/412906.html

You may try fullcompass.com. They stock some replacement line 6 parts and might be able to assist. That's where I got my replacement power plug for my HD500, and line 6 is the one that directed me to them and gave me the part number. I wonder why they aren't doing that anymore?

Sounds like yours must be broken off, or out of warranty. If it's the latter, crack that puppy open yourself. You obviously intend to do the repair yourself, so looking inside it now will help you prepare for the job you intend to do. I'm sorry I can't help with a 400, all my experience is with a 500. Good luck!

Pod Hd500x... The Worst Pedalboard Into The Amp?!?!?
stumblinman replied to nico74's topic in POD HD
So you have two different amps? A gigging amp and a practice amp? That would call for two different patches obviously. I'm guessing you're using high gain since fizz is your complaint. Try the tread plate pre model with the blackback speaker cab, and throw a tube driver in front with gain around 30 and output around 70. Adjust EQ to taste, and keep tread plate gain below 50. Presence is a killer, so keep it fairly low too. Treadplate pre is still one of my favorites to diddle with. -
Pod Hd500x... The Worst Pedalboard Into The Amp?!?!?
stumblinman replied to nico74's topic in POD HD
Yes, I've bought and sold a few. They just don't sit right with me. I love the tones other people can pull out of them, but I don't have the same connection to them. I feel "at home" with a Les Paul, and like I'm wearing someone else's underwear with a Strat. As far as this thread goes, the Pod obviously isn't for everyone, just like guitars are not "one size fits all". The OP learned that, returned it, and moved on to (hopefully) one that fits him better. Life is too short to spend it with gear you don't love. -
Pod Hd500x... The Worst Pedalboard Into The Amp?!?!?
stumblinman replied to nico74's topic in POD HD
Haha I feel exactly that way about Strats. I want soooo bad to enjoy playing one, but in the end I always feel like I'm fighting against it. I pick up a Les Paul and bam, I'm on top of the world. Must be why there are so many different guitar makers out there eh? -
Crap. Hit -rep instead of + on accident. Damn little phone screen. I will +rep a few others to make up for it.

For the record, there are less expensive and better quality cabs available. You may want to ask around.
-
Hence the second post about the 4 ohm jack. Anyhoo... All your points are valid, but I didn't see him ask for SPL comparisons, volume mismatches based on double the speaker area getting half the power or any other extemporaneous pontifications. He asked if he could use a 2x12 cab in tandem with the internal speaker. I merely gave him a less expensive and simpler solution. Kudos to both of us! Win/win!
-
Yes. Plug internal into one of the 4 ohm outputs and the 8ohm 2x12 into the other 4 ohm output and you are good. Had to look at a picture to double check in case anything was different on the 50 since I have a 25.
-
Isn't the internal speaker 8 ohms? Two 16 ohm speakers in a cabinet wired in parallel plugged into the second 8 ohm jack should get you there.

I just swapped the A5 magnet out of my backup LP's bridge pickup. It was a SD vintage 59 and I swapped it to A2. Big difference. Makes my backup guitar playable. Cuts through the mix better for my tones. I've come to discover I like A2 magnets best. My main reason for this post is: what's your favorite pickup magnet, and have you swapped magnets to compare? I have another A2 I'm going to put into my 3rd LP which has a SD Custom 5 in the bridge and make it a Custom Custom. Looking forward to the results. Anyone else using a Custom Custom that can provide input on what it sounds like?
-
That should suffice.

Whether building your own patches or using downloaded ones, you will always need to adjust them for your own rig, at gig volume. Every cab and guitar sounds different, so chances are you need to put in some time noting what sounds odd when you are playing in the mix. Make adjustments during or after the song during practice, and try it again during the next song. Also, in my opinion, studio/direct isn't the way to go if you play live. It adds an extra couple layers of EQ between the cab parameters, mic selection and "fake room" sound that can make it much harder to dial in a good live tone. Also, try some full models, not just pre's. There's a lot of tasty tones if you tweak in the proper environment for how you will use the Pod. Can't tweak in your bedroom an expect it to sound right at gig volume. Fletcher-Munson curve and all that.

Epic New Amp Arguing Thread, Party Like It's 2010
stumblinman replied to mlody2911's topic in POD HD
Perhaps Mr. J should just buy the amp he wants if he's not satisfied when he buys something else, knowing full well that said amp is not included? I bought a Volkswagen Rabbit the other day, and Volkswagen hasn't turned it into a Jetta for me yet. Boycott! Air my impotent frustration into the void that is the internet! You upgraded my Rabbit to a Beetle for free, but when I ask for a Jetta, my pleas fall on deaf ears. I will never buy your vehicles again! -
Epic New Amp Arguing Thread, Party Like It's 2010
stumblinman replied to mlody2911's topic in POD HD
Untrue. Several amps were added after the original release. Of course we want more, who doesn't always want more than they have? But to say they didn't add amps or fx is not true. Tube pre is technically an "effect", and they added quite a few new models too.
