  1. I'm not sure about android, but on iOS there is a commonly used icon that is a rectangle with an up arrow pointing from its centre. This standard icon is used by iOS apps, including the AMPLIFi/Firehawk apps, to initiate some sort of export action (e.g. sending, sharing, printing, .... anything that sends an app item outside the app itself). You will find the AMPLIFi tone saving options by touching this icon. You can save it to My Tones, to the cloud, or (at least with Firehawk) save it to the device.
  2. If you are using El Capitan on the Mac you will be interested to read the several threads in this forum regarding what is generally felt to be a very problematic Apple OS update - El Capitan. Line 6 is already working on this, and they are not the only ones affected. If you are not using El Capitan then there may be something else going on that should be investigated further.
  3. Yes this has been noted before. There a a couple of contributing factors. - the 1/4" analog signal going to the device Guitar Input goes through a parameter called Input-Z (at least it does in the POD HD, not sure about Helix offhand). This parameter is not applied to the VDI signal. - the length and quality of the analog cable vs. the digital VDI cable contributes to the overall sound meaning the signal is going to be at least slightly different as presented at the device 1/4" vs VDI inputs. If I recall, the consensus in the earlier discussions about this was that there's not much to be done about it. There was a suggestion that options be available for the VDI input to add the Input-Z parameter and provide modelling for an analog able. Don't know if those suggestions are on Ideascale.
  4. Make sure your suggestions are added to Ideascale. That's what Line 6 monitors to get customer feedback. Posts in this thread may (but probably will not) make it on to the Line 6 radar screen.
  5. Are you following these instructions? http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects-controllers/helix/how-to-update-the-helixs-firmware-r776
  6. Check the Output Mode setting for your 1/4" outputs. It should be set to Amp if you are connecting that output to your practice amp input. If it is set to Line then the output level does not match the expected level at the input of your amp which could lead to reduced sound quality, meaning the output from your headphones might indeed sound better. If you are connecting the 1/4" output to your L3t speaker rear panel input the Firehawk 1/4" output mode should be set to Line. Personally, I would not connect the headphones output to the speaker input. The levels won't match well.
  7. You 'delete' a preset by copying another preset over it. Use the New Preset to start from scratch.
  8. To download tones from the cloud you need to: - run the Firehawk app on a mobile device that has an Internet connection - login to your Line 6 account in the app - pair the mobile device with Firehawk device using Bluetooth - use the search feature in the Tones section of the app - audition the matching tones and tweak as desired - save any tones you want to keep to My Tones, and/or load them into your Firehawk using the Save to Hardware feature of the app
  9. Good to hear. You're welcome. Hope you enjoy your new setup for a long time! btw... If you are really using Firehawk for everything and never using the Blackstar preamp you don't need 4CM. The Firehawk FX Loop and its cables are redundant. Just connect Firehawk output to the Blackstar FX Return (unless the Blackstar requires a connection to the FX Send jack in order to activate the Return jack). Give it a try.
  10. Not sure whether that was a question or a statement, but just to confirm...... Yes. That's correct. No problem storing and recalling older type Variax models and tone knob positions in a Firehawk preset. If the Variax model happens to include an alternate tuning (that's how it was done on the older versions) then of course the alternate tuning carries through.
  11. You are able to run Pod Farm on multiple computers using the license included with your purchase. You just need to run the Line 6 License Manager on the first use on each computer. You don't need/want the iLok version.
  12. Probably not, but who knows? The one thing we know is it won't be announced much, if at all, beforehand.
  13. Not sure it's really a hijacking. After all, the point of the thread is about a very specific perceived lacking feature. It's determined to be a common thing among most if not all similar devices. Hence it's a matter of current state-of-the-art. This led to a bit of a tangent about former state-of-the-art devices. In a decade or two Helix too will be looked at in a nostalgic remember-when kind of way. FX spillover discussions will be as archaic as bouncing tracks on tape.
  14. I never expect the sound in a video to be anything like what I hear from my device, unless all of these things are true: - the sound in the video must be recorded direct to a quality recording system with the POD Output in Studio/Direct mode (no additional amp/mic in the recording process). The sound must NOT have been recorded with the built-in mic of a video camera or mobile device. - there is absolutely no external or post-processing done to the recorded sound in the production of the video. It must be all and only the POD. - the exact patch used in the video is posted for download - I load that patch into my device which is set for Studio Direct output mode and I listen through FRFR studio headphones or PA speakers - I use exactly the same guitar (not just the same type - I mean the same guitar!) as the one used in the recording. This, of course is virtually impossible unless the video was recorded with a specific Variax setting and I have the same Variax type guitar with the same firmware and settings. If any of the above is not true you will definitely not get the same sound, and even if they're all true the headphones/speakers that you use will make a difference. Having said all that, your POD should still sound good through high-quality FRFR/studio headphones. And you say it does sound good even though your phones are not FRFR/studio. So I wouldn't worry about matching a tone in a video. Just get familiar with building your own presets to get tones that sound good to YOU! Personally I think the most helpful thing you could do is get studio headphones. There are several threads in this forum that discuss the options.
  15. Are you using the same headphones when you listen to the videos? Are you downloading and using exactly the same patches that were used in the video? There are a lot of factors that go into recording and producing a video that are not present when you are just using your Pod directly, especially the patch itself if you are not using the exact one used in the video. Any and all of these differences affect the sound and can account for a significant difference in what you hear. EDIT: Also I notice that these headphones are wireless. I don't have any experience with this so can't really speak to their quality vs. wired headphones when used with a POD device. I also note that they are designed for use with home audio systems so may not be similar to FRFR studio phones, which are best for the PODs.
  16. That's weird. I had posted a reply to which mcbedall responded but now I can't see my earlier post. Perhaps it will reappear here soon - I won't attempt to recreate it. EDIT: Ah... I see the problem. The topic was posted twice. See my response in the other thread with this same title.
  17. What headphones do you have, and what is their impedance?
  18. You can do this to some extent but it is limited. Firehawk FX block assignments within presets are fixed in some respects and flexible in others. For instance, every preset has a Comp block. You can reassign the type of compressor in that block, and relocate the block in the signal chain, but you can't replace the Comp with, say, an Overdrive block. Similarly every preset has a moveable but not replaceable Reverb block. There are three (I think - or is it 4?) fully flexible FX blocks in the chain. You can assign these to anything, so you could have 3 Stomps, or 1 Stomp and 2 Delays, or any combination adding up to 3 (or 4?) FX blocks. But these are the limits. You certainly cannot build a preset as you described above, with a total of 7 stomp, mod, and delay blocks. You would be able to build that preset on the Pod HD500X which supports a total of up to 8 fully assignable FX blocks, but you might run into DSP capacity limitations. And you would have only 1 block remaining for all other FX types (EQ, reverb, vol, wah.....).
  19. Set the Pod's Output Mode to Studio/Direct. If using the 1/4" outputs set the switch to Line. In the Pod preset use the full (not pre) amp models and assign a cab/mic combination. Otherwise proceed as usual in building the preset.
  20. Here's my first multi-track recorder. Casette based! Four-track bouncing to your heart's content!
  21. I think you should open a support ticket to work directly with Line 6 tech support on this.
  22. That's not what he said at all. He offered a way to do what's wanted in the current situation. He said nothing about Line 6 plans in this regard because he doesn't know them any more than you or I do.
  23. 2) I think you're talking about something called FX 'trails'. There is a setting in the Setup menus that allows you to specify whether you want the trails on or off. However this only applies within a preset. There is no ability to have the FX trails continue when you switch presets.
