  1. The just announced, pending, Helix fw2.2 adds some cabs and FX. These are included in Helix Native.
  2. Gotta get up early pal!! 😀😀
  3. This is the full set, including the model packs. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/pod/pod-hd/all-hd-amp-models-in-order-including-hd-model-r732
  4. You've done nothing wrong. It was just an observation by another forum member. I think your post is relevant and valid for exactly the reason you describe.
  5. That is normal behaviour - not a bug. A change in this behaviour was implemented late in the POD HD series firmware and has carried over to Helix. This was done because most Variax players wanted it. They want to be able to use the pickup selector switch to select different positions in the Variax model bank model specified in the preset, ignoring the current physical model bank selector knob position. In other words, if you switch to a preset that specifies a T-Model for the Variax, that model bank is used for any changes to the pickup selector switch. Moving the pickup selector switch will NOT change the Variax model bank to wherever its knob is positioned - it remains in hte T-Model bank. This setting remains in force until you manually or virtually (via a preset) change the model bank. So when you switch to a preset that says Don't Force, it does not force a change in the model bank. The model bank remains (to continue the above example) in the T-Model bank and a change in the pickup selector switch selects a different pickup position in the T-Model bank. This behaviour is exactly as you describe and is now normal behaviour. If you want to change the Variax Model bank after switching to a 'Don't Force' preset you must do so manually. It the physical knob happens to already be in the model bank you want to select you must change to a new bank and then reselect the desired bank.
  6. You're welcome. Hope you get things resolved quickly.
  7. You just need to install the latest update. The updates are comprehensive, not incremental.
  8. I wasn't trying to prove you wrong. The discrete signal paths is all about the preset structure - no FX before the split at the front end and the mixer panning at the back end.
  9. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/215659/ I describe my experience and the downside of the HD500 for this purpose here: http://line6.com/support/topic/25157-using-the-hd500x-for-vocal-effects-processingenhancement/

It may also be caused by dirt/grit beneath the knobs and around the shaft. Small vibrations can cause the device to think you've turned a knob so it goes into edit mode. An easy fix might be to vigorously and quickly rotate each knob back and forth through its full range a few dozen times. This could loosen and dislodge any dirt that's causing the problem. You could also use a Pot Cleaner solution, but make sure it's designed for the purpose. Don't use a general household lubricant like WD-40.
  11. Is the POD HD500X capable of producing the incredible sound of the tone you are trying to replicate? Absolutely. Will you be able to decide that based on a recorded demo by someone else of this specific preset? Absolutely not. Take the example of other songs in the link I posted earlier. You must be familiar with at least some of these songs. Do they sound the same as the original to you? If so, you can be confident that a demo of the elusive tone you are seeking would probably sound good to you (although it will sound different on your equipment). If not, that doesn't mean that the HD500X is incapable of producing a similar-sounding tone, it just means that you're using different equipment to play back the tone than it was recorded with.

  13. Please describe your equipment, both input (guitar) and output (amp, speakers, headphones, ...). Also describe the input and output settings on your HD500x preset(s).
  14. I doubt that you have any responsibility here. It's not uncommon for new users to have USB issues, and it usually boils down to their computer environment. If your USB connection was working fine there's no reason for that to be affected by proper packaging and transit of the device with the same cables. My advice is to tell the new user to open a Line 6 account which will give him posting privileges in this forum. Then he can ask the questions directly here without going through you. We will help him resolve the issues. One thing you could suggest to him immediately is that he use a USB port on the rear panel of his computer, not the front panel. The front ports often use an internal hub and USB hubs are not recommended.
  15. Yes it affects everyone that uses a snapshot controller for the Variax Model parameter. http://line6.com/support/topic/25057-212-snapshots-losing-variax-model-selections/
  16. Thanks for letting us know how it went - yes, we care! Let us know what happens when the regular sound guy returns.

  18. For comparison purposes, here's a thread that contains several demos of songs using presets built for an HD500. While the specific song you are requesting is not among them you will get the idea. http://line6.com/support/topic/25150-pod-hd500-sharing-patches/ You may or may not think that these demos sound anything like the original but I assure you that the person who created the demo thinks they do. And I can also guarantee you that what you hear when listening through your playback system is not what they heard when making their demo. And remember that this experiment ignores perhaps the biggest factors - the guitar being used and the playing skill.
  19. It could be as simple as a directory/folder mismatch. Most DAWS have a setting (in Preferences or somewhere) that specify the directory or directories where it should look for plugins. You may need to add the Pod Farm folder locatoin Ito that list, or copy the Pod Farm files to the specified directory.

    No Soldano?

    Glad to hear it. Enjoy!
  21. The problem with the Variax models only appears if you are using snapshots to select different Variax models. Are you doing that?
  22. I strongly urge you not to base your purchasing decision on what this preset might sound like in a demo produced by someone else with their own equipment. There are MANY factors in that recorded demo that are guaranteed to make that demo sound different from what you will hear playing the same preset with your own equipment. The person recording the demo will use a guitar that's different from yours, perhaps with different gauge and unknown age of strings. Their playing skill will greatly affect the tone, as will yours. They will be monitoring (listening to) the sound using a different output device, whether that be an amp, FRFR speakers, or headphones, and will adjust the EQ to suit. Your monitoring equipment will produce a different sound. And the list goes on. It may not seem like these differences could be very great, but they are. You will be doing yourself a great dissservice by making your buying decision on this. I can guarantee you that it will sound different in the demo than it will using your equipment.

    Yes - time to update.

    No Soldano?

Not sure what you mean. These are the Soldano models available in the Pod HD: Solo-100 Clean - Soldano® SLO-100 Solo-100 Crunch - Soldano® SLO-100 Solo-100 Overdrive - Soldano® SLO-100
  25. This will be very helpful for debugging any issue. As willjrock suggests, please open a support ticket to get the details to Line 6. And DON'T lose that patch - Line 6 may want you to send it to them.
