  1. Try 'forgetting' the connection on your phone and then re-pairing.
  2. The FX Loop in Helix is implemented in two ways: - using a Send block and a separate Return block in the signal chain, which allows you to have a separate/different Send and Return points for the external components OR - a single Send/Return block (also specifically called an FX Loop) which avoids the above separation and returns the signal to the same point from which it was sent. Which option are you using, and how exactly are you cables connected? Include specifics about the Send/Return connection numbers you are using on the Helix rear panel.
  3. I don't think the discussion is silly, and I don't think you need to 'give'. I just don't think this is the place for it. As you said, Line 6 isn't being singled out here - it's a more general discussion of corporate behaviour in a capitalist profit-based economy. It's a useful discussion to have and your opinions are valid. I'm sure there are other forums where it's more appropriate. EDIT: However, I suspect in those other forums the discussion may not be so polite and congenial. :(
  4. Of course companies seek to maximize profit, but that includes staying in business by providing customer satisfaction. That's pretty much the basis of a capitalist economy. And like democratic governance, it's not perfect. Historically, both capitalism and democracy are proven to be the worst forms of economics and governance, expect of course for all the other forms that have ever been used throughout history.
  5. You don't need to leave the looper playing to connect to a DAW (although it's probably perfectly safe). You just need to not do anything to erase it until you're connected. Then playback and record. Of course there's also this neat little thing designed specifically to capture those 'on the fly' creative moments. It's discontinued so you would have to find a used one. Just leave it powered on in the output of your Helix (or pre input if you want the dry signal). It records whatever you play while passing the signal thru to the next component in your chain and you can 'mark' the segments you want to keep. Everything else will be discarded/overwritten when more recording space is required. http://line6.com/legacy/backtrackmic
  6. Under the Support tab at the top of this page. Choose Technical Support, then Contact Support.
  7. It won't cause any problem and it is equivalent to having the Send/Return block at the end of the signal chain (assuming you match the Helix output signal level with the proper Send level for your external looper). The only drawback is that you lose the flexibility to position your external looper anywhere in the signal chain, so that it records the signal from some intermediate point in the processing. But if you never want to do that then it's not a drawback.
  8. I presume that by 'extracting the audio' you mean getting it in a wav or mp3 file on your computer. You don't need to wait for a mod to the editing app (if it ever should come) - you can extract the audio to your computer now by recording it in your DAW and exporting the audio file.
  9. It will sound like a natural wooden acoustic when you listen to it through a PA system (or other FRFR speaker/monitor) or through an acoustic guitar amp. But you're right - it will never sound like a natural wooden acoustic when you listen to it through an electric guitar amp.
  10. You can use either the 1/4" (unbalanced) or XLR (balanced) X3 outputs. Check the specs of your speakers to decide. There's no right or wrong - just matching output and input levels, and even that's not critical. Use whichever works best for you, especially if you already have cables that will serve the purpose. No real need to buy additional cables if you don't have to.
  11. For every idea submitted at least one person thinks it is a good idea; that's why they submitted it. The fact that you think they are good ideas is great - but someone else may have other priorities. That's the whole point. People should vote for the ideas they like best, and should make that decision for themselves. If everyone votes for everything, or votes under the influence of anyone else, then the whole concept of Line 6 gaining guidance on user priorities is defeated.
  12. That will work fine. Just connect your X3 to your computer via USB. Set your laptop/notebook Sound control panel to use the X3 as the default soundcard. You may need to download and install the X3 driver if you have never done so before.
  13. I'm not sure I understand the question. Both paths (A and B ) are stereo. If you use any stereo FX (e.g. Ping pong delay) you should hear stereo output. Check the panning in the Mixer to adjust if desired. Create a stereo track on your DAW to record it.
  14. Have you double-checked to make sure the expression pedal is not also assigned as controller for some other parameter?
  15. Do you have the Pedal 1 toe switch assigned as the on/off controller for whatever FX you are controlling with pedals 2 and 3? If so, change the toe switch assignment to a footswitch.
  16. Yes, exactly right. If everybody using Ideascale voted for every other idea submitted on a tit-for-tat basis, every single idea would have exactly the same number of votes, and that number would be equal to the total number of submitters minus 1 (the submitter of the idea). And Line 6 would end up getting no meaningful guidance in prioritizing ideas.

    Bundle Backup

Correct. That's the procedure I follow, except you don't really need to backup the IRs. Unless you deleted them you have them on your computer already - that's the only way they got imported into the Helix in the first place. You may want to rename them to include the location/slot number but you can do that either on your computer or on Helix.

    Bundle Backup

I find that backing up the bundle is less flexible than backing up individual setlists. That's because some firmware updates include new or modified factory presets and occasionally even new setlists. If you restore a previously saved bundle you will overwrite the new stuff. And if you restore the new factory setlists you will overwrite the existing setlists (from in your saved and restored bundle). So the only way to have both the new factory presets/setlists and your old custom setlists is to save the old custom setlists individually so that you can restore them alongside the new factory stuff.
  19. Have you tried using different USB ports on your computer?
  20. You can also get the editor by selecting Helix in the Software field.
  21. Don't check the Beta box. It's now considered a full release.
  22. Before we can help we need to know what you have already done, specifically. If you truly have done everything you could find on the net (which presumably means every related post and every related bit of info in the Knowledge Base in this forum), and have done 'the obvious' from Line 6 support, then I can only conclude that there's nothing left to do and your HD500x needs servicing. That may end up being the case, but perhaps we can help ..... if we know what you've done already.
  23. Putting pedals before or after will work fine although you lose flexibility in pedal positioning within the signal chain.
  24. Are you sure you are running the latest version (v1.12) of the Helix app/edit program? Older versions had only the sidescreen area; only the newest version has the editor portion. To download the latest version go to the Downloads area of this website. Select Helix in the Software (not Product) field. To use this editor successfully you should also be using the latest v1.12 Helix firmware. Unfortunately Helix does not yet operate as a Workbench HD interface. This capability is expected to be added in a future firmware update but no promises and no timeline.
