I do try to offer solutions.... and did so in a previous post in this thread. In this case the solution is to revert to a supported OS, contemporary with the time during which the Line 6 product was developed and supported. It is no longer supported and will no longer work with current OS platforms. My examples were chosen to illustrate the ridiculous notion that a manufacturer (any manufacturer, of anything) is obligated to support their product indefinitely into the future. They are not. We can quibble about the support window, whether it should be 3, or 5, or 8-ish (Gearbox), or 20 years. But the practice and principle is well established, and necessary.

.... In the same way as Apple, Microsoft, Sony, Samsung, Intuit, EA Sports, Nokia, General Motors (ever tried to find that ka diddle for the '68 Corvette? They don't make it anymore!) .... Who am I missing?.........Oh yeah - ATARI !!!!!!!!

Yes, I believe it should be that simple. Make sure the MIDI send/receive channels are aligned. Note that the HD500 sends the program change number that is specified by its preset number/location, and that behaviour can't be changed, so you will need to place the desired patches in the associated Program Number positions in both the 11R and the A3.

Since it is that important to you, why not go back to the Mac/OS that is supported by the Line 6 products you need to use? This issue began when Apple released a new OS that changed things; you chose to use the new OS - you don't have to use it. Line 6 is not doing anything unique or different here. No software manufacturer supports its products indefinitely across all future OS platforms. At some point support for old products simply becomes unfeasible. Apple, Microsoft, Line 6, ...... Everybody eventually stops supporting their old products as they develop and release new products. What about that great old piece of software I used to use on Windows 98? The ba$tard$ stopped supporting it and now I can't use it on my Windows 8 computer!

I trust you used the speed of sound, not light, in this calculation? Also, perhaps John should wear a neck brace to avoid whiplash during this manoeuvre. ;-)

No. You can't store MP3 samples in the POD. You would need a midi-capable external MP3 player and a midi controller as you describe. You might be able to use the POD as your midi controller; you can assign midi commands to the footswitches.

POD X3 as Sound Card only works for a while, then no sound comes from it!
silverhead replied to ndrgkhn's topic in POD X3
How/Why are you sure it's a software problem? Problems can develop when you switch computers, and two years since last use is a long time. Have you opened a support ticket as suggested more than two weeks ago? -
If your PC is a laptop, unplug it and try running it on battery.

In Pod Farm, make sure you select MIC as input. -
It sounds risky to me to count on using your HD500x tonight. You probably need more time to get familiar with it. Do you have a backup plan? At the very least, I would not use the HD500X Edit program for now. Learn to edit using only the device, and disconnect it from your computer. This will eliminate the delay and the sync messages.
-
If you are editing directly on the device, shut down Hd500 Edit program and disconnect the HD500 from the computer. The message you are getting, and the delay you are experiencing, is because the edit program is trying to remain synchronized with the device. When running Edit, don't touch the device; when using the device to edit, don't' run the Edit program.

Problem with a bass guitar and the UX2
silverhead replied to JSkald's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
Are you running Pod Farm with your bass guitar? I believe there are some Pod Farm presets designed for bass guitar; experiment with those. -
Rode NT1-A microphone won't work with HD500X, but work with UR22 ; why ? ...
silverhead replied to Segomil's topic in POD HD
You are correct - you need to provide phantom power for the condenser mic. The HD500 does not provide it. I don't have a specific suggestion or recommendation for you about that. -
You can't actually delete presets. You replace them with other presets. If you want, you can create a preset that you consider to be 'empty' and use that to replace any preset you want to delete. A preset is nothing but a bunch of 1s and 0s stored in an organized and structured fashion in your device's memory space. That space is necessarily occupied by some set of 1s and 0s, and the device makes sure that the information that is stored conforms to the required structure and represents a valid definition of a preset. So the only way to actually delete a preset would be to remove the associated physical memory, which is actually some small subset of a single memory chip inside the device. Actually trying to do this, of course, would be ridiculous.

Check the Preferences for the HD500 device on your Mac. Is there a control for the mix of guitar vs. hardware playback?
-
The Variax guitar outputs the same sound/model over its VDI and 1/4" connection. Using your HD500 as you describe will work; without being in your signal change it will operate as a power supply to your Variax guitar, and can be used to change Variax models according to your preset specification. The changed model will be heard through your 1/4" output to your other gear. The video you refer to could be using a Variax JTV with a VDI-equipped POD HD device. In this setup it is possible to create a dual-path preset with independent processing of a Variax acoustic model (Input1=Variax) and its on-board mag pickups (Input2=Variax Mags). That setup is only possible using the VDI connection; in that case the 1/4" output will depend on the Variax physical setting of the Model knob: Model or Mags.

No - the FBV2 does not work with a Pod HD device. http://line6.com/footcontrollers/ I use the FBV Shortboard MKii with my Pod HD Desktop http://line6.com/footcontrollers/fbvshortboardmkii.html

I'd like to hear the results of that test too. You seem to know exactly what you want - why not go ahead and do it? I look forward to your report.

StageSource Lt3 via L6 Link on Pod HD 500x
silverhead replied to bjoernm's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
You have to manually change the speaker mode on the L3 and then SAVE the HD500 preset. There is no visible acces to the speaker mode setting on the Hd500 itself nor in Hd500 Edit. The speaker mode is stored somewhere/how in the device but it is not accessible. -
WTF? Why did i cannot install the POD-HD main drivers?
silverhead replied to chris7619's topic in POD HD
At this point I suggest you open a support ticket to work directly and individually with Line6 techs support personnel. http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html -

Have you tried all the USB ports on your computer, especially the rear panel ones? -

silverhead replied to chris7619's topic in POD HD
This is common advice that you may have already read and tried, but just in case...... Follow the directions in Line 6 Monkey closely, especially about when to disconnect and reconnect your device. Try all USB ports on your computer. Avoid using any USB hubs. Temporarily remove all other USB devices; if the Line 6 driver installs successfully then reconnect the other devices one at a time to identify a potential conflict. -
If you are connecting the HD via L6 Link then any Channel 2 adjustment should have no effect on the HD sound. In fact it should have no effect on anything if there is nothing physically connected to the Channel 2 input (unless your speaker is set to control the mixer settings on both Channels at the same time). I still recommend connecting the HD using the analog connections, not L6 Link. The L6 Link connection seems to feed a higher-volume signal to the speaker. For me it's much more difficult to balance the acoustic and electric guitar volumes using L6 Link. A further complication arises using L6 Link, which allows you to store the L2 speaker mode in the HD500 preset. By default, every preset in the HD500 sets the speaker to Electric Guitar mode. That may be great for your electric guitar but your acoustic guitar sounds better in PA/Reference mode. I find it easier to leave the speaker in PA/Reference mode, use the HD500 analog outputs rather than L6 Link, and not have to worry about what mode the speaker is in every time I switch between electric (HD preset determining the speaker mode) and acoustic guitar.
