  1. Your best bet is to use one or the other. Either the Spider, on its own, or the HD into the FX loop if that amp has one. Both do metal quite well.
  2. Its not a super snug no movement jack but that said it could be the plastic locking tab on the cable is a bit worn.
  3. Fleabay my man, I needed some replacements for a D-Tech Jamman and an old GNX and they were all over the place. Pretty cheap too.
  4. Should be a mint box at least B-Stock should = warranty.
  5. Wow - the other guy was throwing Vai licks at Vai like he was a waiter reading the menu. Good movie ref too - love that one.

Haha he will find out quickly then!

One way to find out. The longer the run the more the cord will have in resistance but it shouldn't be enough to matter for that short span. If it doesn't work you know what to do.
  8. Hey Alex, I hear ya - I scored a Flextone III for ~$80, just for S&Gs, and yep those L6 amps with a few tasty licks thrown at them do crank out some flavor. -B
  9. Hey my man, its been a while since I fired up the XT but you could try it right in the front. I usually run a comp fairly early in the chain if not first. FX loops are pretty straight forward as you know but the XTs are only so flexible. Fire up Gearbox and see where the two positions would put it if you use the loop. The manual had pretty decent explaination IIRC. -B
  10. Love it my man! Firing up 100 tones that is some optimism - but you will be dialing knobs, many knobs and knobs you won't quite be sure of. :) With loop selectors and MFX pedals (ie: Zoom CDR/MS50s L6 M5 and up for ex) pedals can do more than you think. You may even find some in the FX loop of an HD. A lot also boils down to amplification/personal pref. Its all good - love the HDs. B
  11. Man always a good topic - there was an older thread here where Radatats found that the Vintage Preamp EQ can be used for phase corrections.
  12. Kept most of the pedals and rack stuff. Some pedals are still stuck on the pedal boards for "just in case". They still sound great and some amps only need a couple up front where the HD wouldn't work.
  13. Yeah yeah metal schmetal..... but can it djent? :D
  14. Brown outs can be even worse sometimes.
  15. Gearbox is the editor for the XTs. Run the License Manager for Pod Farm 2.5 so your purchase can be verified. When you bought Pod Farm it got linked to your account. Top of this page -> Support-> Downloads enter in what you have and what OS then DL. Get the L6 Monkey and License Manager too. -B
  16. I don't think the Helix to HD is going to happen. Probably not enough horsepower different models etc. Try dropping and dragging the patches into HD Edit. I have dropped HD500 and X that way for the HD Bean and they opened. Word!
  17. You bought the UX8 and "it" is the authorization to use PF. They are joined at the hip and where the UX8 goes so does its PF authorization. So you aren't selling a UX8 "and" PF you are just selling the UX8 which is authorized for it - (ie: dongle). Hope that makes sense. :) B
  18. When you said 3rd party I thought you meant ones you would purchase from a "3rd Party" for the HD. The HD can only use HD patches but the translater lets you go from say the HD Bean to the 500 and the 500x, you might even be able to go HD300/400 to 500 but I don't have a 300/400 so I can't say for sure. As far as operating it goes its been a while since I've used it but you have to use it to open the folder where you put the patches and work from there. If I get a chance I'll fire it up tonight. -B
  19. Be sure you are going into the FX loop of the amp too. For me, the HDs sound best using the Studio Direct output mode. Look for some patches by UncleJason (Jason Stallworth - great guy and guitarist from Jason's Metal) not too bad out of the gate. No dl'd patch is going to be "the one" without some work. Nico has a great thread here: http://line6.com/support/topic/21670-collection-of-artists-patches-made-by-l6-products-specialists/ Don't give up - see how the patches were built and where you need to take them for your tone. -Bill
  20. Hey my man - I see it like the HD stuff right now. Its not the new and exciting kid on the block - yet...... those L6 buggers usually are quiet on things for a reason: a) Kill mode or b) Product dev mode. I hope its "b." No sense doing a bunch of promo if something is in the works. They have too much $$$ invested and its a great product (yes - which I don't have yet). But hey, I am an optimist :) Bill
  21. Nico is right, the exposed part is just a plunger assembly that taps the little bugger on the inside.
  22. Yes to your questions. 3rd party and HD patches will translate (for the most part). If you read from the start and work your way down there is a link to a program.
  23. Hmmm well if it connected and recognized the first hurdle is passed. Looks like you are going to have to list your system specs. PF 1 or 2? Type of mic?
