Hey there, Like I said I don't have a 300 but if the tests are anything like the HDs there should be a pass (p) or fail (f) indicator. Should doesn't mean there will. But recalibrate the exp pedal. If its losing its calibration or such maybe its dropping toe down from 100 to say 50. Just trying to keep the screw driver as a last resort - as there might be a ribbon cable that got loose for the pedal or something like that. Sadly there might be a Support Ticket in your future.

Line6 - We are the helpful-tongues. Please take care of us!

You got "the pen". I am still waiting for the L6 can cozy DI was talking about. ;) -
Alrighty! The pedal calibration for the HD300/400 is: Hold Down "D" while powering on. Reset: Not a firmware reflash is power on while holding the "A" switch. Test mode should be: Hold Down "Tap" while powering on - preset knob will get to the various items. I don't have either a 3/400 but its what I found for you hopefully it will either sort it out or find if something is bad. -Bill

I gotta hit the sack but there should be a safe mode boot to do the system testing like I've done on my 500. I'll check back here and see if I can dig up the info if someone doesn't do it while I'm in Zzzzz land. I am curious if the exp pedal is calibrated and will pass the system tests for 0 - 100% heel to toe.

Keep in mind too that the FX loop will allow for offloading FX (via pedals, M5 for ex...) and that can save a bunch of DSP. So if you find a deal on one or the other its still a win-win. :)

Man I love that Zoom 1XON too easy to edit, loops with drums too. While not the sturdiest piece of kit to jab my size 13s on, it does sound great. I always used to cram an old RP250 or XT Bean (and fbvXP) in the gig bag in case of board death at a gig. Nothing fancy just clean, overdrive and rock (3 patches).
-
Let's see: The X has a bit more DSP so it can run a few more FX heavy patches. Yes, multiple assigns to the switches, but you can always patch up or down with the similar patch with what's off and on or any combo therein. Patch changing is pretty quick - at least on the Bean and HD500 (no HD Pro here but they are pretty much the same DSP wise). No experience with the FB3. :D Bill

Considering that the HD is more than relevant and IMO pretty dominant at its price point I would hazard to say it still has some years left in it. With the DSP that the units have the Bean, 500 and X platforms could be rejuiced with a few more model packs in time. Cabs/mics/synths/mics etc. But as Duncann pointed out L6 needs to eat too and $$ must be made.

Volume Control Please Help
BillBee replied to Zool88's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
Hey There, Yeah you have to go through each patch and set the volume so they are normalized. I would leave the master vol on the XTL at 50% to start. Once you go through each patch and adjust the volumes to have the same perceived volume then you can adjust the master vol for the max you need to use when the expression pedal is toe down. Clean to Dirty is usually where the vol jumps happen as cranking everything to 11 works for distortion whereas the clean patches always seem low vol. You can use a Tube Screamer with no drive to boost the clean patches if you need a bit more oomph too. Running into the FX loop is always going to be flat out max for the power amp section but the XTL will handle the vol levels. Hope that points you in the right direction. -B -
If You Were Going To Use The Hd500x Effects Loop, What Pedals Would You Add?
BillBee replied to boyce89976's topic in POD HD
Zoom MSG 50g (for some mod and delay/verb) but will get a CDR70 eventually. For me the loop doesn't see much action. -
The packs are pretty good but its not like the HD can't get awesome tones without them.

Hey! You should try the safe mode reflash first. Download the flash file to your pc first and choose the "flash from file" option. Trying a different power supply would be one of the last resorts unless you happen to already have a spare.

POD XT Pro Output issue
BillBee replied to Matyrker's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
Hey Man how are you running it to the SLA - XLR? Balanced outs? It could be the signal is lower than what the amp likes. Might help someone who comes after here - I was running one into a variety of amps and fx loops and it was loud but they were pretty much std guitar power amps (no xlr for example). Try popping it into an FX loop of a combo if you have one around and see. -
or Surf! Love the Shadows and lollipop Dale is always cool!

Going of memory as my HD notes are at home. Nico had an excellent thread on the Presence control too here somewhere. It is not a knob to ignore, try it cranked and then to 0% (off). It makes a difference. I usually have the high gain stuff going but I know what you are talking about - like looking for that spank on a tele.

Thanks D!

I hope that does the trick, I had FedEx "flop" a full tube combo on my porch and that baby was sounding like a motorboat until I had them changed out.
-
Well Dude, there "may" not be one cause. It could your power supply, corrupt memory, bad memory etc. These are some fairly complicated electronics and that means more things can go wrong but all in all they are pretty solid. Have you tried a safe mode reflash? Try it keeping your patches (if you haven't backed them up), if it fails try again but choose to overwrite all in case a bad patch is causing the problem. Its been a while since I had to do this so it should be the down arrow key. :) Power on while holding down the down arrow key -> safe mode reflash Power on and Right arrow = Test mode and Safe mode. You should be able to test things and safe mode reflash here too. Power on and Left arrow = global reset - one to try first. I hope I got those arrows correct. -B

I hear ya my man, I did the Ashbass mod on a Zoom G3 and you are doing the same thing switch-wise. I just think the looper on the HD is fairly bleh. It's a looper and its there though. :)

Rocktron Velocity 120 -> 2x12, currently a Tech 21 PE 60.

Hey Dude, I don't have a DT25 but that sounds like a tube issue to me. You should shoot in a note to L6 to see what they say first you should have some time on the MF return clock. -B
-
No problem my man - just turned 48 myself and I understand (the back thing too). Its easy to get caught up killing hours and hours making patches or downloading some patches that sound like reheated poo (all rigs are different). Start easy (maybe a single path amp and put a tube screamer in front see how button assignments work) and limit your patch building time so you can play guitar.
-
Hey my man, its a mileage may vary thing as "all ears are different". Without knowing what amp you have I can say "no" to the import tones from amp to HD question. I think the L6 amps sound pretty good but the HD will take tones to the next level IMO but you should be able to build some awesome ones that will be just as good as or better. The HDs have optional Amp Packs to further expand into some of the old XT/X3 amps if you need them. At the top of this page is a support tab it should lead you to the downloads area. Pick your device and OS and nab the Line 6 Monkey, License Manager and HD500x Editor and there are drivers too. I don't have a Mac but the latest and greatest software seems to work pretty good from what I have seen. Take the HD slow and easy as patch building and the depth of options can be a bit intimidating at first. The Dudes here can always point you in the right direction if there is a snag. Welcome to the board! Bill
