All of you are perfectly right ! the purpose was not to make a exact copy of a banjo, nothing will replace a real one. This was just a test for fun.3 points

I use HX Effects in a Helix effects loop to provide extended foot switches and blocks. I typically put front of the amp effects in HX Effects and put the Helix send/return block pretty close to the input block. This keeps the signal path reasonably simple. This has brought new life to my HX Effects. I originally got it to use in front of my old Fender Showman amp. But much as I might wish to gig with that amp again, I'm pretty sure I never will. Variax + Helix + Powercab is just too flexible and easy to use.3 points

Wow...that's a lot of work. My approach was to buy a GoldTone Banjo. But to each their own.....2 points

because the chinese flu has stopped products from being made, shipped, displayed.... and since stores are closed and people don't have jobs, they can't even buy products if they wanted to. I mean, have you tried buying toilet paper lately? It certainly isn't discontinued, but it isn't on any shelves anywhere. *luckily, I have 90+ "mega" rolls in this house. No, I didn't panic shop. In fact, quite the opposite. I haven't bought any since November. **think about it. would I even be at home on the internet on a friday night if i hadn't been trapped in a no fly zone thanks to the media's fear mongering.2 points

Hi- Will my UX2, with PodFarm 2.6, allow me to record using Logic on my Mac Book Pro using Catalina? I used to really like the Line 6 tools as a primary recording setup with Logic, but then they started to fall behind each macOS update and I just looked elsewhere. I don't want to do anything fancy--just three or four guitar tracks. Is this hopeless?1 point

As was said, the main volume knob cannot control the level of the Send blocks. So.... no.1 point

Well there's lots of things going into this performance other than the guitar. It's not a particularly original tone. In fact it's very reminiscent of the older George Benson sound. First things first, you'll need a very accurate playback setup with good studio monitors or a decent powered speaker. If you go cheap on those it will show up because of the accuracy and clean nature of the style of playing. Any of the clean amps would probably be okay. I might choose the Jazz Rivet since it's a very popular amp for this style, and a 1x12 Blue Bell for the same reason. I'd start with a R121 ribbon mic to ensure you get the darkness/fullness and add a 421 dynamic mic if necessary to get the crispness without any of the harshness some of the other dynamic mics would add. I can't really make out what his selection is for his pickups but I suspect it's a combination of both pickups. An important aspect of the tone he gets is his picking style as it is for most jazz guitar players. Look carefully at how he holds his pick. It's never flat against the strings because he holds it at an angle. The makes the picking action very smooth and reduces the pick noise. There's just the very slightest hint of a crunch when he digs in so that may take a while to find the settings for that. That's about everything that hits me when I watch it.1 point

Hello every body I dont know if somebody will be interested by this experiment I learn how to generarate my own IR to record myself with same sound as I was using my Amp and CAB. but it gave me a strange idea... May I try to reproduce a Banjo sound this way. And I try... concept : Inject a test tone fiel in an old (and uggly) banjo guitar, using sound exciters : see picture 1 (exciters) ans picture 2 (banjo guitar with the exciters on top, fixed by adhesiv, one on strings behind the sillet, tne second on the wood. I used 2 in serie to get 8 Ohms impedencie to protect the amp. Record the Banjo response with the mic in picture 2, and build an IR with Voxengo software (demo version). then I drop the IR into the helix, put some gain ( level of the IR is low), use a compressor , a simple pitch to add an harmony (+12 interval mix 30%) and a few plate reverb) and then record directly these few notes into the DAW through USB... and that's the result with a Parker PdF30 modified, bridge Mic Seth lover splited ! not perfect, but fun experiment ! If you'r interested I can post the IR and the tone... but try this with any other instrument, resonator...or anything else... Banjo tentative.mp3 Banjo tentative.mp31 point

When I listen to your sample... ^^^ this ^^^ is jumping out as very unnatural... I'm curious why you thought it should be added when the banjo doesn't have any octave strings. On to the rest..... IMO, getting an IR to make a guitar sound like a Banjo is difficult - impossible. I have not heard one I like yet! Like the others above... I own an Epiphone 5 string Banjo and a Variax to cover my banjo needs.1 point

At the risk of upsetting some, I did find it interesting and the date didn't bother me at the time. With digital wireless systems adding up to 8ms latency in some cases, it is good know the Helix is low. I know it's a poor show, but I don't have a guitar or Helix with me during breakfast:-) Such a waste of playing time.1 point

Yep, I also own a real banjo and two Variax guitars with the banjo model. Suppose it’s something to do during lockdown.1 point

It is not my intention to start a debate on this topic, but IMO the media's fear mongering is absolutely justified. The count of the impressive number of daily deaths alone should be more than enough to understand that the issue is very serious. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips1 point

Yes, I have older backups... Still much lost & all my installed ir's disappeared as well.. and today I had an issue with no output but it came back after messing around with global settings. It's just weird as i've never had issues like these & I am assuming it's from the latest update...? anyways, Thanks for the help!1 point

LOL my rig is fairly simple I use guitars. *Only 2 matter to me but they aren't part of my 'tone'. The other 100 are either collectible items, specific-use items, or guitars that are bought today and sold tomorrow. Line 6 HD 500/500X/Pro X *Yes, I have all 3 of the units (I do not have an HD Pro), but I only use one at a time. They are all the same, so nothing changes in my tone. But because of my situation(s), I have multiple of the same. Between travel, multiple homes, and sometimes I use a floor unit and sometimes a rack unit... I run direct to the PA. *sure, I have headphones, monitors, amps, and even those little $10 computer speakers. But those are to be used when... as example, I am here and want to play, so I plug in what I have available. Or maybe the "and friends" gig I host every week, requires me to take my own monitors because of the much smaller sound system. The goal is to have nothing between the pod and the sound guy. ***depending on the employer, I may have specific devices. such as a talk box or wireless or a midi/sync system. But in general, it is guitars and a pod. And life couldn't be better. What once took all day to pack up, load up and load in, unpack, set up, sound check, tear down, re-pack, re-load and then re-unload... I can now show up at the venue 5 minutes before show time and be ready to go. I don't. But I could. And because everything is digital presets, I never have to worry about anyone turning any knobs messing everything up. Just recall the preset and it is back to where it should be.1 point

Anyone else having issues with the tuner becoming unresponsive? Helix LT. Updated from 2.8x straight to 2.91. Tuner works fine for a while after booting up but eventually lags or doesn’t track guitar at all. If I reboot, tuner works fine again for a while. I tried changing input to guitar only. I guess we’ll see what happens but something definitely isn’t right.1 point

V=iR - V= voltage, i= current, R= resistance. Assuming the amp's output is a steady current, you are doubling the voltage seen in the amp's output section. Also, by boosting the input, you could overdrive the input section of the preamp.. Either one will not be good. But you posted this a year ago, how's it been working for you?1 point

Hi Not sure where you saw the version 2.6 of POD farm but I’d like to have it too :) pod farm crashes after few seconds of playing / recording with any other software too... for sure line 6 pod UX2 and pod farm 2.5 are far behind development. To be honest it feels like line6 wants to stop those product (or maybe they’re not trying to be competitive anymore!?) pod farm 2.59 crashes after few seconds of playing recording will be tough. If you love Line 6 Produkts (appr. T200€) More Thanks you live your mac (appr. 2000€) then go for Line 6 if you still live your mac then Update to Catalina and choose any other brand for your audio interface i recently bought a POD UX 2 and honestly it’s not worth the 200 bucks. 6 months after Catalina being released and they still didn’t follow ... looks like they dumped this product dev tbh1 point

I created a ticket. i will keep you guys here posted, or at least I’ll try. @aleshin 1) being rude might not be best way to get support in general... just makes others want to avoid you. 2) being polite, on the other hand, and reasonably speaking, can really be efficient in explaining your disappointment. 3) they (Line6 company) already have your money. So in the end you’re the one in trouble now. Not them. 4) if nevertheless should you still ignore that and wish to be rude, do not hesitate to create a dedicated thread, we, here, are trying to get efficient support On a constructive way as an example of politely talking and for your guidance: if anyone from Line6 support team read this topic, by any chance, it would really be appreciated by us, Line6 customers, that our supplier is consider the trouble we are into at the moment. we all understand that due to the covid19 situation the lead time of treating tickets is impacted. Nevertheless your customers are also impacted by the situation, and being confined is for us the opportunity to enjoy more often the Line6 products we purchased. fixing this issue might settle a good relation with the impacted customers, whereas not fixing this issue soon will make your concurrent make more customers. considering the unsatisfied customers can have more impact and influence than satisfied customers. thanks in advance1 point

Hi folks! I have the same problem now with HD500 on Win 10 - after the drivers' installation is finished, i plug in the USB cable and then the System kicks me away to the blue screen. Does anybody solved that problem?1 point

I had heard that the spider IV series does not play well with other effects pedals (no effects loop on the amp). Being the huge Lynch fan that I am, I didn't want to forsake some good Lynch tones I have because my spider IV 75w combo might not work with it well. Long story short, I put the amp in manual mode, clean red, eqs at 5, and plugged in a Zoom G2G Mr Scary box in front of it. And man, it sounded awesome!!! So much so that it almost made some the stock spider IV presets kinda sterile sounding. Blazed away for a while, turned the amp off, un hooked the Zoom pedal turned the amp back on and everything was fine. Just thought someone might find this helpful.1 point

I found myself in the same situation as others in this thread when the volume pedal on my Helix LT stopped working. The metal brace had sheared off inside where the pedal pivots. My board was outside of the standard warranty but Line6 came through for me and got me a replacement system. Hats off to their support team as I did not expect such excellent customer service. This was hands-down the best product support I have ever received. EXCELLENT JOB LINE6 SUPPORT!!!1 point
