Dude, get yourself the ghost piezos (i think they were the 8000) that will make the instrument sound way better, and will solve your g string problem permanently.

Agree. When i got my hd500 i got socked of how weak was the effects. Pod xt had better effects than the hd, at least on the mod sector.
