  1. Register the guitar in your account and log a support ticket.
  2. Monkey should see it. It sees all my old Variax guitars here in the lab. Chances are the guitars need servicing.
  3. Go to model "User III", toggle-1 for the one string Asian instrument. Which string is sounding?
  4. Sounds like a ground loop with one of the cables coming from the output.
  5. Unfortunately no tours of the Calabasas office, but Malibu is nice this time of year. And the surfing is really good, best waves in a while out there right now. Cheers.
  6. "... is the board a direct drop in or does it need some kind of initialization that only a Line 6 tech can do?"--- That also assumes that the board is the source of your problem. If it's correctly programmed for the guitar that it's going into it's a drop-in. These boards are not interchangeable. You can't just take any board from any JTV and put it into another JTV. A 59 won't work in a 69 or 89 series. The hardware is the same, the program isn't. Needs to be properly troubleshooted by an authorized service tech who know the product. This is not our grandfather's arch-top Gibson guitar with passive electronics.
  7. Quite right regarding the Alt Tune aspects.
  8. "... I fail to see how increased string tension can make the software "better" recognize the note that's being played."--- String tension means better acoustical coupling for transferring mechanical vibration to the piezo for better transfer of electron shedding from the piezo material through the wire. Good signal makes for easier processing in any digital audio device. Check out some of Sean Halley's videos regarding string gauges for JTV's. Of course, too much tension is just as bad as not enough tension. String gauge has nothing to do with Alt Tune, unless you use something lighter than a 9-gauge set that is too lacking and can't hold tuning. Quite right crusinon2. As far as plink goes, there's a posting about that in the Knowledge Base from late last year or early this year.
  9. @musouse,... the Strat and Tele, and Jazzbox are the more thinner sounding models in the bunch. You can adjust that more to you liking using Workbench HD.
  10. @dalix22,... don't try to repair it yourself, let Yorkville or Long & McQuade do it. They have experience with this and will have access to me for further queries, if needed.
  11. Contact Customer Support, we may have spares here.
  12. Could be the set-up. But be careful in having the pick-up height adjusted, or warbling in the sound can occur in model mode.
  13. https://line6.com/find/service_center/ ... is the link to all the authorized service centers, and a selector for those that work on guitars as well.
  14. True. Maybe the next round of woods will take longer and be more well considered before jumping into the next wood variety. Or we'll all have to do concerts from where we're at and not cross borders for fear of our instruments being confiscated for CITIES non-compliance (already happening in some circles). Total agreement there.
  15. Plastic,... carbon,.... climate change,... I don't think so. Steel tariffs,... hmmm, thinking ahead maybe? Some other wood,... don't know yet, maybe in 50 years.
  16. There is a Knowledge Base posting on the SD Card format to be used. It isn't something you open, it's something to load into the Spider Jam through the SD Card slot in the back of the unit. There is more detail about that in the owner's manual.
  17. A number of guitar companies are moving away from rosewood due to CITIES issues. Some wood suppliers were passing off rosewood as being CITIES compliant when it's not, part of what got Gibson in trouble,... twice. So now nobody wants to risk that. Many are moving to CITIES compliant ebony for their fret-boards. Not certain where we are on that, I only see these guitars after the fact when they come across my repair bench.
  18. "This is beyond the scope of what I'm looking to do, and would seem to require a hardware mod to even attempt it. "--- I figured that, but there are those who would start from where you want to go and then try what I mentioned. I have mentioned to the engineers on a couple occasions the desires of those that want to make use of both outputs simultaneously and the issues involved in trying these sorts of things at the present stage of things. There's a thing called "Idea Scale", for submitting ideas,... a wish list of a sort. It's how the Helix was created.
  19. Should be on the Downloads page. https://line6.com/software/index.html ... and just follow the prompts.
  20. No, not poor circuit design, just wasn't intended to be used that way. It's a current draw thing. I've done multiple split outputs on my own guitars, but they are also all analog passives going into active circuitry. Variax is just a different cat, have to cuddle it under the chin a little different. If you try to run magnetics with models and add Alt Tune, you get mags in standard tuning and Models in a different tuning. Just sounds bad.
  21. You could get in touch with Tyler or Yamaha about that.
  22. Frankie,....No. Don't do that. Tubes are not arranged for that sort of thing. Frankie, Mark,... these are not the all analog tube amps of the 1960's and 70's, these are hybrids. Can not get away with doing these sorts of things like we used to do back in the day. The analog and digital sections need to talk nice to one another. As a result, these amps don't take kindly to modifications. Don't mod these amps.
  23. "Did I fry the looper pedal or just the power supply?" --- Hopefully, just the primary winding of the supply. There should be a PX-2g for the voltage for that region. Or, you could get a PX-2g and a 220VAC to 120VAC step-down transformer.
