I'm now up to 9 tracks (I named the project "Amp Sim Playground" :-) ) - 3 amp sims - Native 3.0, Amplitube 4, TH3 EZDrummer and EZKeys That's 5 VSTs and 3 MIDI tracks feeding the amp sims All tracks RECORD ENABLED Processor is holding steady at under 30% I'm playing thru all 3 amp sims with their JCM800 versions - sounds MASSIVE! Microsoft antivirus is ON, and wireless is ON (two no-no s for optimization). I also have open Paint (working on a problem for somebody else), Opera, HX Edit and the full Office version of Outlook. More no-no s for optimization. I come back to LIVE every so often to see if it's crashed. I can't get it to crash. Again, this is an ancient i5 laptop with only 8gb RAM. I'm using LIVE 10 LITE (I only get 8 tracks), but I can do the same configuration and more with Reaper or Cakewalk. Suggestions: Check your optimizations. I have NO startup programs running. Power, sounds and screen effects set to Max Performance - not even wallpaper. Processor optimized for Background Processes.
-
Just checked back, it's down to 20-22%, same as Amplitube.
-
Is there something in particular that you're doing when it crashes? I just loaded up LIVE 10 Lite with Native 3.0 (LIVE 10 doesn't support VST3), linked a MIDI controller, and it's working fine. It IS, however, showing 25%+ processor usage, which is WAY more than Reaper (8-10%), which is strange, Amplitube 4 shows around 22%, which is consistent with using somewhat less processor in Reaper. Depending what else you're doing in LIVE, it could just be overloading the processor. The machine I'm testing this on is an ancient Gateway i5 with only 8gb memory, and so far, just Native 3.0 and the MIDI track, no crashes. I'll leave it running a while to see what happens, but so far, so good.

Wrong forum. This is where you go if you're serious about suggestions for changes and improvements: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/index Before posting a new idea, please search to see if it's already been proposed. If 100 people vote on the same idea presented 20 different ways, it looks like only 5 people care about it! Also, post your ideas one at a time. I for one NEVER vote for multple combined suggestions.

The Hi Freq Trim sets the level of the signal sent to the Hi Freq Driver component in the speaker. It has no effect on the tone through the output jack. Yes, I tested it to be sure. For that you'd use the High and Low cut sliders or, live, the High and Low Cut settings on the Panel controls. Unfortunately for your needs, those are not Global, they're per preset. Until L6 changes things to allow us to use the Global EQ on the Digital outs, the best you can do is use the 1/4" Outs and, if you have good quality studio headphones, do the initial presets on the phones, then see how it translates to the PC. You'll need to get it up to at least 85db to get to the low end of the Fletcher-Munson curve but, once you've done one or two presets, you'll have a good idea what the Global EQ settings you'll generally need are. Keep in mind that you'll be configuring your presets for room you're in, and that'll all go out the window when you get to the gig. That's actually what the Global EQ is intended for. Also, as for the signal from the PC to FOH, the sound crew, if they're any good, will take care of that, and until you're THE BIG DEAL, likely regardless of any input from you!

I'm in Denver but, thanks anyway, if I decide to cut loose with my savings it'll be for a PC212. If you're in Colorado you can probably get top $ for it, nobody's got them in the stores, and I've only ever seen two on CL, including the one I bought a year ago for $475. Of course, that could be because nobody wants to go all out digital around here. We often have bears, cougars, elk and deer running loose in the streets...... OTOH, when I sold my HD500X, it sold the same day I listed it, so who knows. It's been so long since I've been out to see a band I don't have any idea who's using what these days.
-
There's already a 3.1 thread over on TGP.......
-
Probably not. $1400 is a lot, considering that I live in an apartment and haven't played in a band in years. BUT...if I saw a nice used one on CL for $8-900, I fear I'd lose control and jump all over it! I'm actually more a bassist than guitarist and, for that purpose, the FRFR112 sounds WAY better than the PC112+. Says the angel on my right shoulder. But the PC212 would sound better for BOTH says the devil on my left. No powercabs AT ALL on CL, so I'm safe for now..... There's a couple of people on TGP who have, and really like, the PC212. I've posted asking if they'e tried the new "Stereo Imager" effect with it. Waiting to hear what they say. Sometimes I HATE having money in the bank. What good is it when I could have NEW TOYS?!?
-
No, it didn't work in 2.92, or you updated before you tried it, but it does work in 3.0?
-
Oh, I get ya. I've never had a reason to go backwards on versions, so I've never tried that. Sounds like a question for phil_m...... OR - OP? Did my second preset work?
-
I'm basing that on having restored setlists created with previous versions after an update. They always worked fine, then rebuilt after a reboot.
-
Guitar cabs will always sound different than "FRFR". They will always sound exactly like what they are, require more volume to sound their best, require mic'ing for recording and (usually) weigh more. If you like the added tonal flexibility of IRs AND the AITR option of the Powercab speaker sims, the Powercabs will be a better deal than PA type "FRFR" solutions. The coax speaker design blends the HF/LF components in a way that sounds much more AITR even with IRs than the separate component design of the "FRFR" alternatives, which are designed for large room/long throw applications. This is especially true in a small space such as the studio you described. I wish I knew someone who had a PC212. I'd love to compare, and see how it sounds with the new "Stereo Imager" effect in v3.0. The physical spread possible with two PC112s is nice if all you do is play at home, but it's pretty useless on stage. If you have a bad back, two 32lb cabs vs one 48lb cab could be a consideration, but I'm blessed that at my advanced age I can still deadlift 300lbs for reps, so not an issue for me. I'm guessing that your 2x12 guitar cabs each weigh nearly as much as the PC212, which has neodymium magnets. Of course, then there's the money thing. Being semi-retired, I don't have much. But if I sell the PC112+, the FRFR112 and the Egnater Tweaker that I never use anymore, that would pay for most of a PC212..... OH G.A.S.! I HATE YOU! Why did you post this? Now I'm thinking again, usually a bad thing!

Never had backwards compatibility problems as long as it's not a missing model issue, next time you reboot it just optimizes for the newer FW. Anyhow, the preset is just what Sascha suggested, which you now have working. All good!

Yes, I'm on 3.0. Why would anyone Not be? ;-) In the meantime, try this one, it uses a legacy didtortion. A_B Split.hlx

The original POD came out in, what, 1995? I have a friend who bought one of the first. He uses it into an old Spyder amp he paid $75 for. For the kind of music he plays - hard rock/punk/metal - it sounds great. 25 years later. What guarantee do you have that you'll still be ALIVE in 25 years? There are very few companies in the world still making tubes. They're horrible for the environment, and will likely cost a lot more in 25 years. There's no guarantees in life. Play what sounds good to you NOW, and worry about the future when it gets here!

Here's a very basic example (preset attached). Distortion on A, Delay on B, no merge. A_B Split.hlx

I'm pretty sure W7 worked the same way. Disable the Stomp and enable the Presonus as default. Only difference is you get to Sound Panel from Control Panel.
-
Have you disabled PC Tx in Global Settings>MIDI? If not, it might be sending the default PC# and ignoring the PC# attached to the Instant Command in the Snapshot.
-
If you're SURE you've installed HX Edit v3.0, and you're SURE that Helix FW is v3.0, and a Factory Reset didn't fix the problem, you might have a broken joystick. Open a Support Ticket. Since your next question is "It worked before the update, why doesn't it work now?", the answer to that question is, "$h1t happens" :-)
-
Each patch in the Tempus should have a PC# associated with it. Assign that PC# to the Instant Command (IC1) in the snapshot you want to call it from: IF Patch A = PC#1 Patch B = PC#2 THEN SS1/IC1=PC#1 SS2/IC1=PC#1 SS3/IC1=PC#2 If Global Settings>Preferences>Snapshot Edits is set to DISCARD, then don't forget to save the preset between each Snapshot Edit. If set to RECALL then just save the preset when you're done.

The Smallbox Pedal is essentially an "Amp In a Box". You can use it as an Overdrive by putting it between the guitar and Helix Input, or you can use it as an alternate "Front End" tonestack/pre-amp by putting it in a separate FX loop. With that FX Loop ON and the normal FX loop OFF you're replacing the BE-50's pre-amp section with the Smallbox running into the BE-50's FX Return. With the Smallbox loop OFF and the normal FX loop ON you're using only the BE-50's pre-amp section. With both FX loops ON you'd be running a pre-amp/tonestack into another pre-amp/tonestack, and it would likely be noisy as hell. Overkill, diminishing returns. Some people like using ODs in FX loops, but keep in mind that the FX Loops tend to add a bit of noise, which will be amplified by an OD like the Smallbox. Also, each FX loop adds latency to the signal chain (approx 2-3ms) when engaged. So, using the normal 4cm configuration or a second FX loop that's only ON when the other is off adds 2.8ms, Two FX loops on at once adds 4-6ms. Latency affects the "feel" or responsiveness of your picking.

Did you update BOTH the FW and HX Edit to 3.0? IF YES THEN Check your USB cables. Make sure you're not using a hub - if the computer is a desktop use the rear USB ports. If that checks out, perform a backup and a factory reset.

Assuming Windows 10, open the Sound Panel and select the computer's sound card as default Playback device. Then take the Headphone out from the computer into a pair of inputs on the VSL, where I assume that you have your speakers connected.
