  1. I should have prefaced my post with "IMO". My opinion is based on how rarely anyone from L6 replies, but for all I know somebody DOES read it. If so and what they do as follow up is a mystery to me. Anyhow, fixed it!
  2. EDIT: IMO This forum exists so that L6 users can solve other L6 users' problems and save L6 support a whole lotta time and money. Ideascale exists for L6 users to present their ideas and feature requests, not for reporting bugs. L6 SUPPORT is the only dependable way to get bugs to the attention of the developers. Once someone at L6 has certified that it is, in fact a bug and not just operator error as most of the problems reported here as BUGS usually turn out to be, the support staff kicks it up to the developers who add it to the backlog of stuff they have on their plates.

    3.50 and Reaper

HUH? If you can clarify that I'll try to duplicate it, but Reaper 6.69 hasn't crashed on me so far.
  4. From the manual: 6 Digital Out Level Sets the S/PDIF and AES/EBU output levels. For most cases, you can leave this set to 0.0dB. AES/EBU is a STANDARD - "AES/EBU is the name of a digital audio transfer standard developed by AES and EBU. At the beginning of the 1980s, a number of individuals and organizations began to explore the possibility of developing a new digital audio interface. The AES and EBU published the specifications for the standard in 1992, revised it in 1995, and revised it again in 1998. AES/EBU is the most common alternative to the S/PDIF standard, and the most common AES/EBU physical interconnect is AES Type I Balanced — 3-conductor, 110-ohm twisted pair cabling with an XLR connector." -courtesy of Sweetwater and L6 Link is an L6 proprietary implementation of that standard(?), so if it were plugged into a device that employed the AES/EBU STANDARD (like, what?), it might work, but NOT with a Powercab expecting L6 Link? Seems pretty silly (but not surprising) that L6 would design the Powercabs that way, especially since L6 Link pre-dates the Powercabs. Maybe it was necessary to add the ability to send commands from Helix to Powercab? Unless they update the manuals at 4.0 to clarify we'll likely never know if it's a BUG or a DESIGN FEATURE (LMAO). More of that Top Secret need-to-know CIA National Security stuff!
  5. ASIO vs WASAPI bottom line: If you're playing live (in real time) through a plugin (such as Native) use ASIO for minimum latency.
  6. Wrong forum, nobody from L6 hangs out here. Post your request here: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/login Search first to make sure it hasn't already been requested.

    Helix 3.5

????? There must be 30 threads on here re the 3.5 update, and probably 20 with directions on how to deal with every possible update problem.
  8. Try all three. Buy the one that sounds best to YOU. If latency is an issue, and you can FEEL (because I don't believe you can HEAR) 1ms of latency, then if you can't decide between GT and Helix, get the GT. If you can't decide between the GT and FM3, get the GT. If you can't decide between the Helix and FM3, get the Helix. When I play thru plugins (Scarlett AI), I'm getting 7.6ms latency, and it feels fine to me. I don't think that the 3ms difference between the GT and the FM3 would matter to me if I liked the SOUND of the FM3 better than the GT. The 2ms latency of my Helix is negligible. If you're a super-shredder and Yngvie is your idol, YMMV.
  9. IDK if "Digital Level Out" ever worked because I never needed it for anything, but it definitely does NOT work now for AES/EBU to PC212. It DOES however work on SPDIF to my Scarlett AI. I tried this with Digital Output set both AES/EBU and SPDIF and it's consistent. I think you found a bug. Open a Support Ticket and keep us updated!
  10. It only happens with ONE amp on ONE PA?
  11. DOH! I hate when that happens! ;-)
  12. As you might expect, playing through a 212 cab is very different than playing through studio monitors or even a 112. I like my PC212+ with the caveats of not-so-great cab emulations and unreliable L6 Link (MIDI is the cure). Jamming with ambient tones is so much fun with the stereo spread at 200%! If you're using your Powercab to dial in tones for recording it's not likely that you're getting accurate results. You're better off using the Helix directly into the DAW with the new 3.50 dual cabs (stock cabs or IRs). What you hear in headphones or thru your monitors will be the recorded stereo sound of your Helix, whereas creating your tones while listening through a Powercab (112 or 212) your carefully curated tones will sound very different when recorded, and nobody is going to be listening to your recordings through a Powercab! Well, except maybe you. I tried it, sounded like a$$. Bottom line - for jamming in the room, PC212+ is more fun than PC112+. For recording, go direct from Helix>DAW.
  13. Did you update HX Edit to 3.50? Did you perform the factory reset after the update? if not, do it now. If you did, do it again. If that doesn't fix it, use L6 updater to reinstall the FW. If that doesn't fix it, IDK. I had no problems on either my HXS or my Floor.
  14. Yeah, as pointed out by @SaschaFranck, Helix as AI has horrible latency. On my system Helix RT at 64spls (48k) is 12.5ms vs the 7.6 that I get with my Scarlett. BIG difference in feel.
  15. Part of the equation is how powerful your PC is. The faster the processor the lower you can set your sample rate without glitches. My 2nd gen Scarlett with my 7th gen i7 laptop will go down to 64spls and 7.6ms RT. Below 64spls it glitches. The 3rd gen Scarlett with a current gen i9 can go down to 16spls and <>2.5ms RT (I've read) which is pretty much the same as Helix direct (<>2ms). I'd like to compare those systems, but the cost of upgrading would be ridiculous considering that I'm not so much of a shredder that I can tell the difference between Helix direct (<>2ms) and Native at 7.6ms.
  16. You keep harping on this, but their position AFAICT is that the ASIO functions are for recording, which it is very good at, NOT for playing through VSTs, which is where the latency becomes a problem. I'd be happy if they improved that, but I really don't think it's ever going to happen. In any case, I don't think that it prevents them from playing in the top tier modeler league, nor do I think it's hurting sales, else it would have already been done.
  17. What was the problem with the Harley Benton MP 100? It should work fine in Custom Mode. What's your budget? Floorspace restrictions? MIDI experience? I use my Helix. I also have an FCB1010/UNO2 that I've programmed to work which is overkill, the stock FCB1010 will do the job and still be overkill. It's cheap, indestructible, big and ugly. Has two Expression Pedals. The Morningstar MC series is very popular but pricey.
  18. They may release a minor bug fix and current feature improvement, but I doubt that they'll be treating their lowest priced amp to any major feature upgrades. The cheapest Powercab costs twice as much and has major problems, and they haven't released an update in over two years. In any case, they won't be talking about it, they never do, and the developers don't hang out here anyway. It is what it is and that's likely all that it's ever gonna be. If you need more, get an HX Stomp to plug into the Return. It sounds GREAT!
  19. Never update before a gig. Murphy is watching! Yes, make sure that your computer does not fall asleep. Use a mainboard USB port, not a hub. Install HX Edit 3.5. Update from there. READ THE RELEASE NOTES AND INSTALLATION DIRECTIONS! FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS! If the update fails DO NOT START A NEW THREAD! The plan B instructions have already been posted numerous times. Good Luck!
  20. PodGo and PodGo Wireless 1.20 Owner's Manual Page 8 "Quick Start" Hooking It All Up PodGo with an Amp and/or Powered Speakers Catalyst would, in this case, be a "Powered Speaker". You may need to use the app to turn ON the FX Loop. MIDI CC#107 Value 127 if you have a MIDI controller and a Catalyst100/200 or, if you have a Cat60, a DAW or other way to route your MIDI controller through your computer via USB. You can use any of the Cat's FX (Post PodGo) by setting the MODE switch to "FX Loop" (left position).
  21. In order of importance: 3. Yes. You do not HAVE to update. Do you have a gig this weekend? If YES DON"T UPDATE. 2. Yes. Follow the directions. Make a backup. You CAN roll back to a previous version. If necessary, come back here and someone can explain the process. I've never needed to, and I've had mine since 2016. 1. No.
  22. This is a message on the Rack itself, not in HX Edit? There's no option to NOT update now, so you can't get past the message to use the unit? With HX Edit (v3.5) closed, if you open the L6 Updater, does it show the Controller as a separate update item? I don't have a Rack, I have Floor and HXS, so I'm just whacking at this, but I went to the Downloads page and there's no FW update for the Rack Control. Did you perform a Factory Reset after the update? If not, do that now (hope you followed the directions and made a backup). If the Factory Reset doesn't fix it, time to contact support!
  23. I don't understand. I have presets on my Helix that load any of the Cat's 6 banks, send Channel A/B commands, contain Helix FX and toggle Catalyst FX/Reverb/Boost. They also contain a Helix amp (have copies with assorted Helix amps) which, when activated, toggles the FX Loop to Bypass the Cat's Preamp. They also configure my PC212+ depending upon how it's being used. All through the magic of MIDI. There's even more that could be done within the limitations of the # of ICs and Footswitches on Helix. While it might be handy to have the Cat's signal chain visible in HX Edit so that you don't have to have the Cat's MIDI Command list handy, Cat users are a very small subset of Helix users, and realistically I don't see L6 devoting a lot of time to integrating Cat/Helix beyond the MIDI implementation. Of course, while it will be interesting to see how many votes it gets, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to happen. What is it that you think CAN'T be done with HX Edit now?
