  1. Setting Stomp Select to Off does what it says - it does not however disable touch in general. In Stomp Mode the assign message comes up after 1 sec of touching and goes away after 3 secs - I think one can live with it. You can however change to Preset or Snapshot or Scroll Mode (Press View and then <-Page or Page->) if needed.
  2. Read the schematic just for fun - interesting transistor preamp. Input impedances: 1: 220kOhm 2: 84kOhm Good ears!
  3. What amp are you using? Input 2 of Fender amps and low input on Marshall usually have 136kOhm impedance (hence this value is in the Helix's list). You mentioned earlier that your guitar sounded great with your amp using 4CM - you didn't use a lower input impedance in that scenario, right?
  4. Nice flagship floorboard at a very nice price. If I'd be in the market for a new full-featured device this would be my prime pick between Helix / HR Prime / FM 9 / Kemper Floor / Quad Cortex. It would need to pass my audio comparison against the HX Stomp though.
  5. Global EQ? What are you listening your Helix through - amp, headphones, studio monitors?
  6. Ask for an exchange of the product within warranty. Ask for a carbon free exchange if you want to have some fun.
  7. You have been in Snapshot mode and normally run in Stomp mode. There are four different modes: Stomp, Scroll, Preset and Snapshot. Press View to select Play view and then step through the modes with <-Page or Page->. Read the manual to get the most of your Stomp - but definitely read the Cheap Sheet!
  8. Did you set the Ins/Outs -> Send/Return to Inst ? This is significantly louder than Line.
  9. When you see the Drive parameter on the screen push it's knob and turn a little. Now Drive is a parameter that is saved per snapshot.
  10. With the new Dual Cab block the cabs are in phase when both Delay parameters are set the same (i.e. 0.0ms). With the Dual IR block (V3.5) the Delay parameter adjusts the phase between both IRs if needed. You can set it by ear - when it sounds the most full, loud and clear both IRs are in phase. Alternatively invert the phase of one of the IRs and scan Delay for the quietest signal. If needed you can load the IR's in a DAW or wave editor (i.e. Audacity) and compare both waveforms: do their initial peaks align? - If not: the number of samples they are out of alignment is the number of Delay steps (0.02m steps) that you need to adjust (given the IRs are in 48kHz format).
  11. It's a ground issue. Somehow the Stomp (and by extension you) is not grounded. The Stomp isn't grounded by itself (by design). It gets it's connection to ground by the device you connect it to. In this case that is your speaker- so the power socket the speaker is plugged into matters. Do the tested speakers have a 3 pole power cable or a 2 pole power cable? If it's a 2 pole cable you can additionally connect the Stomp to an amp (that can stay switched off) or via USB to a computer. No ground on the socket(s) (electrical problem in the house) could be the problem, too. Try a different room (or house).
  12. Knob issue since 3.5: knob issue.mp4 It happens on both my HX Stomps after updating to 3.5. Before every knob position translated to exactly one step - now occasionally two which is ANNOYING. It's repeatably skipping one position while all other steps work fine. Normally moving 10 steps in one direction (left or right) gets you to the same position again (one round-trip). When this issue happens there is a position that is skipped and it's 9 steps, but when do it again in the same direction it's the normal 10 positions again. An example sequence to each time getting to the same position would be i.e.: 10 right, 9 right, 10 right, 10 left, 9 left, 10 left. Seems like the algorithm determining a position from a knob input isn't evenly scaling - looks as if there is exactly one position value missing.
  13. After all I've read it's probably a hardware problem. Likely the output 2 is defective. Looks like a faulty supply voltage in a push/pull output driver stage, but that's just a guess.
  14. I suggest A/B'ing an empty preset with the Stomp's Global Analog Bypass (true bypass). Press the Upper Knob and Lower Knob to access it - make sure it shows "Analog Bypass" otherwise set it up in the Global Settings. You can also switch it via footswitch - see Global Settings -> Footswitches.
  15. If you want to buy an amp that does the Badonk stuff and more - Amp1 Iridium by Bluguitar.
  16. When it comes to studio monitors: find a store that has a show room where you can compare. This will lift your intuition of the differences of studio monitors to another level.
  17. The Essex A30 is the top boosted AC30 in the Helix.
  18. Clip 1 has more hiss for sure - listen with headphones.
  19. A criticism of the choice of adapter vs use case. The cable doesn't seem sturdy enough to carry the bead. Also the bead case could be improved by adding the same flexible support endings that are on the adapter.
  20. A cable with a thicker sturdier sheath would help preventing damage caused by the ferrite bead.
