You can roll back to 2.71 until they fix what's wrong. Just assuming you weren't aware of that.

So the upgrade stopping half way through is supposed to happen and if you click the correct button after it stops, it proceeds. My upgrade process was pretty quick and painless. Not sure if you knew it was supposed to do that. Sorry yours didn't go as well. I am curious, when you say slow, what do you mean? Switching between patches? Switching between Snapshots? Programming? I used it right after the upgrade and had no issues so I am curious (in church, sorry. I know it doesn't meet with your criteria.). Not hating or mad, just want to be aware of and watch out for anything that may be an issue.

What about just going through all of the amps the Vetta II had? Are they still laying around Line 6? They had a couple of Deizels and a Dumble.

I did bear witness to a post from DI that went something to the effect of "the HX Stomp only has 6 blocks...for now" so it sounds like it's at least being thought of. I remember it being in one of those long posts on The Gear Page so I'm not going to look for it.

What happened was I just looked for all the software instead of something specific and the thing that came up at the top of the list was a Line 6 monkey update ver 1.77. I just assumed it was included because it was part of an update at that time that took care of issues with the Shuriken. However, after looking further. I found the most recent firmware update was, as stated earlier, 2.0 which was 2012. Sorry for the confusion. I'll edit my previous post.

The most recent firmware/flash memory update on the download page is from 2012. Version 2.00.

One thing I think I found yesterday but haven't had time to fully investigate is the Exp pedal not maintaining it's position when switching patches even though the Global EXP position setting is on Global. Will investigate further tonight.

That's right. I did notice that. Another nice touch.

I haven't played with it yet but the control of a Varaix's separate string volumes sounds really cool. You could play a chord on the bottom strings, assign the top strings volumes to the expression pedal and fade those in and out. I like the snapshot icons in HX Edit next to what parameters they control. Nice little touch I thought.

I've notice no one has mentioned this so I think you may be right that that may be the issue. Just to reiterate, once it gets to the boot failure page on the Helix you do have to press OK on your computer to get it to continue. It doesn't continue it automatically. At least it didn't for me.

One thing that seems to be true is the new amps seem to actually use more DSP than the older ones. I've gone to replace them in some patches and I've had to delete one to several effects before they will fit. Curious if anyone else noticed this.

You probably already knew this but it's changing all of the presets you have to the new format. If you put any old presets into your Helix after the update it will do the same thing although obviously it won't take as long. If all of your set lists are full it will take a little while to rebuild them but I would say 30 minutes IS way to long.

I did read this Make sure to disconnect your helix first, for some reason clicking on the download 2.8 button while helix was connected sent me to 2.71.

Well that kills the Rack unit only theory.

So far in everything I've seen, it actually appears to be the Rack Unit that's having these issues
