I wasn't just refering to the Helix. I was talking about life in general, I thought that was clear. One constant with expectations is that you will be disappointed a lot if that's how you think. As far as the OP goes, yeah, I agree with you there. That's why I just gave him a link to have an email sent when it's ready and not a finger wagging. "how dare you expect anything" lecture. It was really the other posts I was reffering to........ But how dare you people expect anythng!!!!!! (That was a joke)
-
Then, as I said, if that's the case, get ready for a bunch of disappointment in life. I know people/the marketplace will expect companies to "play ball", that's their nature. But I think you do yourself a disservice to expect things from people/companies that aren't said. You''ll be disappointed a lot. That's been my experience. I choose not to be disappointed.

I would say it's "completely reasonable" that many people would feel entitled to an update, knowing what little I know about the human condition. BUT, I'm a believer in going by what is said, not what people may think they are entitled to. So I would say it's not " completely reasonable" to expect them to follow suit. If it ain't said, shouldn't expect it. If you do do that kind of thing, be prepared for a lot of disappointment in life. Starting now I guess.

Found it. I updated my post.

You can set something up so you get an email when it's ready. Go here and check the appropriate box. https://line6.com/account/emailpreferences/

Just a quick thank you to you all for remaining civil and all the info. I really liked your post amsdemj. That answered a question or two that I have had, as many of your posts have.

So you don't buy him saying the amp and Fractal sounded exactly the same? I do wish I had been there when he did all that. Is there any advice you would have given him? I'm not trying to be smarmy. I honestly want to know. I do know it's hard to give advice about this, having not been there at the time.

Oh really? I didn't get into the thread. I hope that doesn't happen here. That is not my intent. In fact my experience has been different than his. But I'm always willing to keep an open mind.

This was a very interesting conversation with a guy by the name of Tom Abraham. He's a pro and worked with Alice In Chains and Metallica. His basic jist is that he has made patches (in this case he was using the Axe Fx) for a performer that sounded exactly the same as a performers tube amp setup by them selves but in a live mix with the Axe Fx instead of the miced amp, the guitar would disappear, even though it sounded exaclty the same on it's own. One more perspective from someone who has no loyalties to any modeller.

Right here. https://fremenpresets.com/line-6-helix/ Then go here https://www.youtube.com/user/gtr111/videos And look for the "How To Create A Great Sounding Tone" Videos. There are a bunch but there are a lot of other things as well. And remember, despite the wealth of good knowledge he has, his ways of doing things are not the only ways. They are a great place to start.

There are always different ways of doing things. My method is to disengage the Helix's XLR's (that I send to the FOH) from the master volume knob , so that the Helix's master volume knob has no effect on them. It then only affects the 1/4" outputs which I can then use for my monitors/amp or whatever. What this means is that when the XLR's aren't controlled by the master volume knob, their output is then the same as if the master volume knob is turned all the way up i.e. unity. Right now, there is no way to change that. I'm guessing there was a reason for that. Just a guess though. Whadda I know. (I just noticed njglover got to this first but I'll just leave this here)

WHAT? There's and update coming??? When!!??
-
I would say this. The effect is essentially for the guitarists ears only. But it is the coolest effect ever. If you ever get a chance to check this out on a JC120 , do so. I've only heard this particular thing on a JC120. Not that I have any kind of extensive amp/cab history. I have experienced being stereo between two cabs. Not that practical in a show situation (unless you've got roadies, a large stage, understanding bandmates and you're in the middle) but in the practice room....Yehaw!!!
-
Have you heard a real JC120 with the chorus off and then on? It has two speakers. You not only will hear a difference, you will sense it. The sound appears to expand. I don't know how else to describe it

WHAT? There's an update coming?

Amen to this!!. Why couldn't this have been around about 20-30 years ago!?!?!? Nevermind, I know why.

They were deleted. They are here http://benvesco.com/store/line-6-helix/ Or just click on this link Download deleted factory presets and download the zip file. They're in there.

Well, I'm familiar with the post you linked. Two things. Did you buy it used? Or was it a floor model at a music store? In both of these scenarios, the patch could have been overidden. The only way to get them back would be to do a factory reset. There are several versions of this. The first step is to turn the Helix off. Then turn the Helix on while holding two buttons down. The two button options are Make sure you backup your Setlists and IRs before using these reset function: 5 + 6 Will reset Globals... 7 + 8 Will restore stock Presets and Setlists... 9 + 10 Will reset Globals and restore stock Presets, Setlists and IRs... 5 + 12 Will clear all Presets, Setlists and IRs... 11 + 12 Will clear current preset... (since firmware 1.04.1) holding down switches 7 & 8 is probably what you want BUT DON'T DO IT YET!!!!!!!!! Factory presets come and go with each update. The thread you linked shows many Helix versions factory presets. There is a good chance that the Dream Theater presets were gone from the version of firmware your Helix has. I don't know if this is true nor how to find out. If I somehow find out, I'll post.

1. Sometime after the 2.8 update. 2. No one who knows will say anything. That's as good as the info will get until a Line 6 person says something. And they don't talk much about that.

You just did!!!!!! Oh no!!!
