  1. I have been on this earth for over 50 years and have also observed human nature. One thing humans tend to do is to make blanket statements about things without considering any specifics. I believe that is what you are doing. "All companies do........" That seems a bit narrow minded to me. Was, and is, there a need for consumer protection? Absolutely! Does EVERY company ONLY act in their self interest? No. Of course not. In my situation with Line 6 if they had been acting PURELY in their own self interest, I would not have gotten the conclusions I did from them. They did not have to send me a brand new X3. They could have sided with the authorized repair guy and not given me one. Which would have been the case if they were completely self serving. Would have been cheaper to not send me one. One other instance is I had accidentally stuck a 1/4" plug into the VDI socket of my Variax rendering the VDI completely useless. I was sent the VDI assembly absolutely free with only a phone call. Wouldn't have happened if what you say is completely true. So, I again, have to disagree with your blanket assessment that they operate purely in their own self interest. I right now work for a company that when I started, was very much about quality and the focus was not on the bottom line but on giving the best to the "customer". Because of that reputation business was great. The pendulum has now swung to the area you are talking about. But the swing was so recent that the public view is still that they are more on the side of the customer than the bottom line. So I would say, unless you are in the trenches of a company, you can't empirically state where a certain company is coming from. And Line 6 has shown themselves to be in the middle, if not leaning more toward the customer side, than your blanket characterization of them. You generally can't know for sure where a companies "pendulum" is. Again IMHO. And don't we all act in the manner you are describing from time to time. Do we go to the mom and pop store where you get great customer service and pay a little more. Or do we go to the large bulk store, or even online, because it's cheaper? i know I'm guilty of doing that. Good-bye mom and pop store. Good bye good customer service. Sorry, I think I've pontificated on this enough. I get where you're coming from and am also fairly cynical about the human condition. But I try not to make huge blanket statements about many things. It often seems to be more complicated than "this is how it is...period". Having said all of that, I will admit that Line 6 has basically bailed on products after they have improved on it all they can, or (dare I say it?) want to. The Vetta amp line was like that, to name one. It had some things wrong with it that were supposedly being looked at and then suddenly nothing. No more info on the Vetta. Not even a "we've given up" statement to let us know what exactly the status was on it. Just suddenly nothing. I think there was a we've moved on kind of statement but it wasn't an official Line 6 statmenet. It was a response to many inquiries about what's going on with it.
  2. Don't get me wrong, I get where you're coming from and why but I don't think Line 6 completely fits your characterization. Every issue I've had with Line 6 products have been resolved in my favor. EVERY issue. Including one that was my fault. There have been four. One particular incident was that I had taken my POD X3 Live into an authorized Line 6 repair place for an official Line 6 hardware upgrade. When I got my X3 back it would continuously reboot. I took it back and the repair guy. At first he said it must have been my fault since it was "working" when I picked it up. I balked and he eventually said he would look at it. Well he said he could find nothing wrong with it BUT asked if I wanted him to fix it on my dime!!! Wait a minute, it's not been broken by you but you'll still repair my "not broken" X3 if I pay for it? I got a brand new one from Line 6. They could have easily taken the repair guys position and said "it must be your fault. The repair guy says it is". But they didn't. And I have since found another authorized Line 6 repair place that I trust in my area. There is some truth in what you say but Line 6 has come through for me even when they haven't had to. They have dropped the ball on some things I think but overall, they're pretty honorable. IMHO.
  3. NO Helix VDI cable. You will have to purchase your own. Anything else is extra. This is the VDI cable you want to hook up to your Helix http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/VDI
  4. I remember seeing a guy about 15 years ago playing keyboards and guitar for a small play. He was the only musician. Obviously when he was playing guitar there were MIDI tracks but he still had to do a bit of a pedal board dance during the show with various timed music/play stingers ( you could see him to the side of the stage). He was using a POD 2.0. All kinds of different sounds and performed excellently. You guys that do that are very impressive. I am so jealous of your skills and I hate you. ;) :D Seriously, very nice!!!
  5. Almost all of the Variax peripherals are out of stock at Line 6 http://store.line6.com/accessories/guitars.html That's a bit scary.

    Helix vs AX-8

I am curious why this person even shows up here. His Helix is in a box. I guess just to show off his insulting prowess. Very impressive. Oh wait he loves this forum. It amuses him. How quaint. And in regard to the comments that made them all laugh and laugh. That's all it took? Someone expressing an opinion different than theirs? That's sad really. And there is no bias at all. That's right folks. With the group he was laughing it up with, just being on the forums automatically makes you a kid "playing' Ibanezes in their bedrooms". Without hearing a note from any of you they could tell all that. That is amazing. What insight! I remember another arrogant pompous a*s*s who, after looking at my guitar stand, said he could tell how good a guitar player was by the kind of guitar stand they used. He was not joking. I told him I usually wait until they play something before I come to any conclusions. I put these boobs in the same category as him. Oh, let's not forget you all should of course thank him so much for defending the people here. How generous of him. Well if any of you want to find him, I'm sure he'll be on the playground, laughing and insulting any kid who dares to be different than him. Him and his double oaked bourbon drinking buddies. Or is it double soaked bourbon drinking buddies? Based on his post I'm guessing the latter. What a sad and pathetic group of holier than thou losers. Can't wait for his oh so clever response to this. You know he will. Bullies can't take this kind of thing just sitting down.
  7. Um..Uh..well it failed. Will the warranty cover this? ;) :D
  8. Just saw an open box Helix on Musicians Friend website. Personally I'm still saving for one so not looking for one YET!
  9. 1) Yes. I actually believe they will stay. 2) No, you have to have the HD connected
  10. The plug center pin is NOT 2mm. I spent $20 finding this out the hard way. It is 2.5mm. The FAQ is wrong.
  11. I believe it was the 7 dirty words, not deadly. They did not produce death when spoken. ;) :D Had the album when it first came out. Always loved him.
  12. +1. I am 98.876% sure it's that you are listening to both the HD500 and the Cubase DAW monitoring at the same time. After you've recorded it, when you listen back to the track, is the echo still there?
  13. A dead zone? Reeeaaallly. I was considering one of those eventually but I think I'll be reconsidering. Especially considering the price. Thanks for the heads up.
  14. Here are the offical pedals. First up!! Mr Expensive http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EP1L6MT Next...Mr Inexpensive http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EX1?adpos=1o1&creative=103263529321&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=CL_L6Yyu38wCFZSEaQoduZ4OVw I have used Mr Inexpensive for awhile now although not as a 5 day a week working musician. Works fine for my purposes but it does feel like a cheap pedal. I've heard many good things about Mr Expensive but have never used one.
  15. Oh I get it. I guess I wouldn't describe it as a lot of wiggle but it is there so subtle vibrato just doesn't work. It has been brought up on this forum. And the trem bar looks exactly like the Floyd Rose official one and there are lots of things on the internet about the wiggle inherent in it's design. I believe people on this forum have replaced it with the Floyd rose old style arm. So it that fits, I can only assume the "Turbo" arm fits. So my only question then is, does it eliminate the wiggle?
  16. But it's made by Floyd Rose so doesn't that mean it isn't a third party device? And if they are matched up for the least amount of wiggle then that is just sad. It wiggles....alot. In every JTV89f I've handled (4 so far)
  17. I've recently come across the Floyd Rose Turbo trem arm. Does anyone know if this arm corrects the dreaded Floyd Rose Trem Arm Wiggle?
  18. Ya just gotta hold your breath and do it. I do recomend that you have some electronics experience. You have to essentially take the whole thing apart, carefully disconnecting boards from each other (keep track of what connects where!!!!), unsolder and unsolder clean, then resolder and put it all back together. Not for the faint of heart but I figure if I can do it, anyone can.
  19. It is going to be nearly impossible if not totally impossible for someone to create a patch that will sound right with your rig unless they have the exact same rig as you, from guitar to speakers. I would take DunedinDragon's advice and do some internet searching to find what a particular artist used. I go direct using the studio direct output and am sometimes amazed how much it helps. For example, Pink Floyd - Breathe rhythm guitar. .Hiwatt amp, phaser, Strat. Very close before any tweaking.
  20. I still have mine!!! Haven't touched it in awhile. I did all of Dieter's upgrades to 3.00.00a so I got it to go as fast as it will go. I've had to replace a voltage regulator and the knobs are showing some wear, but it still works. Such a bi*** to program though. If you look on Dieter's website http://www.tube-tester.com/sites/gsp2101/sites/gsp2101main.htm there is a rudimentary PC editor on there but, as I recall, I found it was easier to do it from the machine.
  21. I hear a phaser or univibe after the distortion and I believe I hear a little ring modulator in there.
  22. I don't even know if you can do ratings anymore. I've been on these forums a long time and if you were back when I started, I'm sure you remember how all it took was one pissy person and they could ruin your rating for awhile. Didn't happen to me but I saw it happen alot. So I decided not to care about ratings. But I definitely appreciate the thought. Glad to help out.
  23. Well God bless you for the compliments but I just happened to have read several Lindsey interviews fairly recently so it's not like I'm a Fleetwood Mac expert. There are multieffects units with better reverbs but for the price, I feel the HD500 gives you the most bang for the buck. You could get a unit at the same price with a better reverb but I'll bet the amp sims wouldn't be as good at all. The Digitech GSP 1101 could be one example of that. If the reverbs are as good as they had in their old GSP2101 then that would be great but their amp models aren't so good. IMHO of course. One of my favorite reverbs was in the Alesis Quadraverb. Not even made anymore. (Sidenote: Line 6 was started by a bunch of people from Alesis). You could try getting a dedicated reverb pedal and put it in the effects loop. Digitech has somehing called a DigiTech Supernatural Ambient Stereo Reverb Pedal that has Lexicon reverbs in it. $130 but you'd probably have all the reverb you'd need.
