How to pick up and carry the Helix - handles anyone?
cruisinon2 replied to caryashby1's topic in Helix
Every time I think I've seen it all, something such as this thread reminds me that there is absolutely no end to life's inanities... There is no need for an elaborate intellectual construct here. It's a BOX... 1) Pick up box. 2) Relocate box. 3) Put box down. Don't grab it by the expression pedal as that is exceedingly stupid... unless you enjoy broken things. Then by all means, game on... -
A USB cable is a USB cable....try another one. Marketing bull$hit will attempt to convince you that magic alloy connectors, or fancy braided coverings are "better" at moving 1's and 0's from point A to point B, but that's a load of crap...all they are is more expensive. It either works, or it doesn't.

lmao...😂. #HandleAwarenessWeek -
I'm sure there's an update over at TGP...😉

Throughout 20 years of marriage, the purchase of every guitar and motorcycle has been facilitated with EXACTLY this premise...😂
-
How do you like that thing? I've looked over the site a few times, but I'm forever wary of "blind faith" guitar purchases.
-
The whole time...😉 I've had intermittent issues seeing all of the forums over the last couple of days. FWIW, from here everything seems to be working at the moment.

At the moment, no.

I'm content to allow just about any sort of digital weirdness once. Computers do weird $hit all the time... unless it keeps happening, it ain't worth getting in a snit.

Replacing Or Cleaning Scratchy Volume Pot

Nobody questioned the recommendation...I merely provided a translation. Despite its presence in every medicine cabinet on earth, I guarantee most folks don't know "isopropyl alcohol" from weapons grade uranium...never mind that it comes in more than one concentration. But if you say "rubbing alcohol", the whole world knows exactly what your talking about... -
I had something similar happen just yesterday...I was recording a track, everything was fine, then the guitar suddenly cut out completely, but several seconds later the last few notes I had played suddenly came through...and anything else I played continued to have VERY long latency, several seconds at least. I'm on the same Mac OS as you, and I did have HX Edit open at the same time that this occurred. I closed the editor, re-seated the USB cable, and restarted my DAW,and everything went back to normal. Don't know if any of those things actually "fixed" the problem, or if it was just some random digital fart somewhere.... hopefully it doesn't return.

I rest my case. It's not a serving tray, lol... best first world gripe ever though: "This thing, that is designed to spend it's entire existence on the floor getting stepped on, has no handles!!!" 😂 What really chaps my a$$ though, is my new massage chair. It has no ejection seat, or laser weapons...😉 -

To the masses: "rubbing alcohol"... Worst idea ever... -

Ok..."box-like", then. Close enough for government work. Terminology aside, you don't need an engineering degree to figure out that it can be lifted just like other objects that are essentially rectangular solids. And no, can't say I've ever had the need to go one-handed. But even if that was my greatest wish, the thing is what it is, it weighs what it weighs, and as we've all noted, there are no handles. Oh well...I'll play the hand I'm dealt. Two hands work just fine. One under each end, and lift. Thing weighs about 15 lbs. Doesn't exactly require a forklift. -

In 30 years, I've never seen a single multi-fx floorboard, modeler, or foot controller that had handles...it's a box. Pick it up like you would any other box. And grabbing it by the pedal eventually won't end well. It's not designed to hoist anything. -
Andy Summers would not approve of this, fellas...😂

Opinions will vary widely...I've got a pair of JBL LSR305's which sound great, and despite their size (5" cones), have plenty of bass response. Space is at a premium in my home "studio", so going bigger wasn't really an option... but since you say you've got room, a little bigger certainly won't hurt. What you'll definitely want to do, no matter what the size or brand, is get something that will isolate the speakers from whatever they're sitting on...stands, acoustic foam, etc... otherwise you'll tend to have low end coupling issues, and the bass will become artificially prominent at any given setting. Buy from somewhere with a decent return policy... ultimately the only way to tell if you'll like them is to try them out in your listening environment. Auditioning them in a store can only tell you so much.

It's really just a matter of perspective...anyone setting their minor aggravation threshold this low is voluntarily signing up for a difficult life. If I returned every product that came with an obtrusive wall-wart, I might as well go live in a cave. The mere fact that the term "wall-wart" exists is all the proof one needs to realize that this is clearly a frequent occurrence. But ultimately, it's a minor annoyance, easily circumvented with a few minutes of thought and a $7 adapter. Nothing's perfect...

There's a little known new feature in 2.50... awful patches are automatically rejected by the hardware...RIP Customtone.😉

HARRUMPH!😤

Well as long as you didn't give up immediately...😉 Personally, I won't spend more than 17 minutes on problem solving of any kind, and 2 hours is out of the question. This product is clearly doomed! 😤😂

String Brands w/ Piezo's
cruisinon2 replied to specracer986's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Ask 10 guys, and you'll get 10 different answers... the only thing I could see making a difference are coated strings. I suppose it's conceivable that they might interact differently with the piezos than non-coated strings... though even that's a stretch if you ask me, as those coatings are all of 1 or 2 microns thick. -
Suggestions on next step
cruisinon2 replied to twiztednate's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
The Stagesource speakers are excellent, but they're not exactly cheap...you'd end up spending about the same amount of $$ on the Firehawk + Stagesource, as you would on a Helix LT and one of the less expensive FRFR speakers, such as the Alto's that a lot of guys are using. That being the case, I'd go for the Helix... it's just a better unit.
