How to power speakers to serve as monitors on UX2
fflbrgst replied to naccoachbob's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
A power amp or receiver with a stereo AUX input is what you need. -
fbv shortboard cable question
fflbrgst replied to ChuckNorrik's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
You want a straight Cat5 cable, not a reversing one. Check the pin contacts on the FBV and the HS - its very easy for them to get bent. -
Laptop studio setup questions
fflbrgst replied to thomaswhudson's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
If you're only recording (at most) 2 simultaneous tracks at a time the 5400rpm drive shoudl be fine for you. What DAW are you running. Some people prefer to run their DAW from an external drive, but I have never bothered. I back up my files from my hard drive to USB drives. -
I need two fxloops
fflbrgst replied to sirspikey's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
^^^That's the solution! Most DAWs wil not let you use two audio interfaces at one time anyway, so your plan wouldn't work as you outlined it. The otherway would be to use your splitter to send one signal to the HD500, then take the audio output of it to your other audio interface, along with the clean signal. -
Just make sure you have the two jacks wired the same (positive to same jack terminals) so that you don't have your two sides out of phase with each other.

fbv mk1 and expression pedal ex-1 problems
fflbrgst replied to jynx1966's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
Is it a setting in the amp maybe? -
I was at GC on Saturday picking up some strings and a guy was there selling his Spider III 75, FBV Express, Line 6 modeling pedals and Boss RC50 looper - total they offered him was $310.. GC would only give him $60 for the amp, and $30 for the FBV (half of what they said they would sell it for). I talked to the guy, and he couldn't be bothered with trying to sell everything on craigslist or ebay. I was wondering how much Spider IVs will devalue when Line 6 finally replaces them with something.

"Slapback" that I can't get rid of
fflbrgst replied to slackernaut's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
It may be defective, but first try a factory reset - hold the 'A' button in while turning on the power, and hold it in for 5-8 seconds. Note that this will delete any user preset patches you have saved on the amp. -
I think you are asking about how many presets you can load INTO THE AMP, rather than how many you can access via the FBV Mk2 Express? There are 64 slots total - 16 banks for 4. The sound patches that are loaded into the memory locations by the factory are all contained in the song and artist presets, so can be reloaded from there if you write over the location that contains one of them.

FBV express DEAD after connecting usb
fflbrgst replied to JoaoCorceiro's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
When you connected it to the computer, did you use a USB cable or the CAT5 cable that connects it to the amp? Do you have Spider Monkey installed on your computer? That's the Line 6 software used to detect current firmware levels and to download/install updated firmware. -
Problem with Spider III HD 150 head?
fflbrgst replied to jgerads93's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
I suspect that there is ac ompoent or preamp board that needs replacing - assuming you have tried a factory reset and it had no effect. -
On the Spider, you can save your adjusted sounds to the 4 preset locations.

Pod Farm VST running without interface
fflbrgst replied to Beaumont57530's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
I would recommend using the UX2 as your monitoring soundcard for mixing anyway, rather than the internal soundcard on your computer. -
The only way to use PODFarm wiht an amp >> you need an audio interface of some kind with an instrument input (Line 6 UX2 for example), plug guitar into interface, set up PODFarm for your sound, then from the speaker/monitor ouput of the interface, run a line to the amp (would be better to use the CD/MP3 input on the amp, bypassing the preamp controls). The Shortboard would not be used at all in this example, unless you wanted to use it to control PODFarm.

Basically - either and FBV Express MkII or and FBV Shortboard Mk!!.

Have you read the Advanced Guide? Available here. Page 2.2 'Saving' To save a preset: • Press & hold the channel button of the current preset location - all 4 LEDs will flash • If you’re starting from an Artist or Song preset, press any A B C or D Channel button • Select the destination Bank by pressing the up/down arrows on the Nav Disc • Rename the preset if desired - L/R arrows select character - Presets knob changes it • Once your preset name is set, press a Channel button as your preset destination • The LEDs will flash rapidly a few times indicating the Save routine is complete • Your preset is now saved to the Bank and Channel location you’ve selected

I've never even heard one! But it seems like the design (both how it looks and the multiple speaker set up) are not really stage-friendly.
-
Monkey is the updater, so it must have told you that the firmware on the FBV is up-to-date - firmware is the software that makes it do internally. The FBV is only a control pedal - you can use it with a Spider or Ampifi amp or with PodFarm or to control MIDI.
-
Looks like the Firehawk is the next generation HD500, so as such, it's a stand-alone device - you could use it with your amp, but if you are using the Firehawk's FX, then you would most likely only use a clean setting on the amp. Are you going to be using the amp live? Will you need to be able to change FX/sounds quickly between songs or during songs? If so, then you need a control pedal for it - either the FBV Express MkII or the Shortboard MkII.
-
You're probably right regarding the Amplifi amps - but these are bedroom amp, no one is every going to gig with them. Wireless control (and full frequency sound production) is simply not needed for live guitar work.
-
Not only the FBV but the Spider IV is getting a little long in the tooth. But introducing a new product that isn't 100% compatible with 'legacy' products isn't wanted either. No real sign of what parent company Yamaha sees for the future of Line 6 - I didn't hear o any real NAMM new products.
