  1. I've never seen any PRO guitarist with a wireless pedal/control system. As TheRealZap mentions, power is the first consideration. Much easier to run the cable(s) along the front of the stage, around the side and up to the amp.
  2. The RJ45 cable supplied with the FBV is not a very good one, it could have been RF interference, or just a faulty cable.
  3. Make sure you have the current revision of firmware installed (need to connect to Spider Monkey via an FBV MkII pedal and USB). Also make sure the power cable is securely plugged in - I've noticed that the power cable on my 75 is not that great, seems like the socket is not tight or maybe not deep enough.
  4. This is not an uncommon problem, if you search the old forums, you'll see many people with the same issue. 1) Make sure you have the FBV MkII hooked up to a USB jack (usually in the back of the computer) that is not a 'remote hub'. Check your computer panel to see if the computer recognizes the device when you hook it up. 2) Uninstall Monkey, make sure you delete ALL Line 6 files (uninstall will not remove the files, you have to do it manually) and folders. Reinstall Monkey and Spider Edit and try again What O/S are you using? I ended up using a borrowed laptop running an old Windows version rather than what was on my computer at the time. I haven't had the need to try it with a newer computer with Windows 7.
  5. The FBV (even the MkII) is not used for saving/editing on the Spider IV amps. You have to do that with the front control panel (or Spider Edit if you have a MkII and have it hooked up through USB to a computer).
  6. When you indicate 'low volume' - what is the actual volume showing in Cubase? You should be recording in the -18dB to -12dB range.
  7. Thanks! If you are going to be doing the recording yourself (rather than paying a studio), I recommend checking out the forums at homerecording.com, I learned a lot there.
  8. Blatent self-promotion here. But I guess if there's any place it should be, this would be the place! I used either PodFarm or my Spider IV 75 for all the electric guitar tracks (and some of the bass tracks) on my new album! I thanked Line 6 in the liner notes. In need of Peace Freedom Sanity Serenity? You’re in luck, because my new album of 15 original songs is available! You can purchase Peace Freedom Sanity Serenity at: CD Createspace Estore: http://tinyurl.com/mikebirchmusic-peace Kunaki: http://tinyurl.com/mikebirchmusic-serenity1 CD or downloads at: Amazon: Amazon.com: Peace Freedom Sanity Serenity: Music Downloads at: Mike Birch Promo video: All 15 tracks can be heard at Mike Birch Music, Lyrics, Songs, and Videos (some versions may be low-resolution MP3s) and lyrics for all songs are available there as well. I'd really appreciate it if you post a review on Amazon - on the whole album or even on a song or two that you like - if you are registered there!
  9. The FBV Express MK2 is probably your best bet at this point, if you are a new player. It will allow you to switch between the 4 patches in the current channel you have selected on the amp, as well as give you easy access to the built-in tuner and looper (and the wah/volume pedal, of course). The FBV Shortboard allows you to page up and down through the user channels as well as select the patches, and includes on/off switches for other functions such as boost. This can be handy when playing live. You may find a good deal on a used FBV is you shop around, but make sure you get the Mk II version - the original (Mk 1) does not have USB access.

For an idea what you can do with the Spider and a bass, listen to the the introduction of the song 'The Beast WIthin' - links below. In need of Peace Freedom Sanity Serenity? 11. As already answered, you do not need Line 6 hardware to use PodFarm 2.55. I use PF 2.55 in Reaper as a VST and typically plug my guitars in through my Tascam US800 interface, my old Guitarport is gathering dust!
  12. It is worth getting an FBV (Express or Shortboard)! 1) Gives you access to update the firmware, which includes many new FX settings;; 2) Gives you ability to use 'Spider Edit', which allows you to store all your user presets on your computer as well as downloading presets from others; 3) Allows more control while playing (switching presets, volume, wah). If the store where you purchased has an FBV available, and a computer that can be used, they can register it, download Spider Monkey, then update your amp for you.
  13. Should be on the back plate of the amp.
  14. Don't know why I never thought of doing it before, but yesterday I hooked up a Shure SM58 and my Taylor acoustic/electric to my Mackie ProFX12 mixer, then sent the output to the CD/MP3 input on the back of the Spider. Voila! - Instant PA System! I did find out, though, that if I only fed 1 side of the left/right mixer output to the stereo input that the volume was not very loud, but when I sent a full stereo signal (I used the headphone output because I only had an adapter to do it that way), the volume was huge - and clear! Most likely I would never use the amp this way, but it's a good option as I don't have any powered PA speakers of my own to use, and it would make an ideal monitor, too.
  15. I have heard of others with this problem using Win8. I think it is due to conflicting soundcard - drivers. When you are using your HD500, it essentially becomes your soundcard, so you need to reset any other programs you are using (like Chrome, etc) to use it as your soundcard, not the built-in one in yoru computer. Hope this helps!
  16. Curious about that myself, especially with the 'Tweak' statement!
  17. A good part of your sound is going to be the guitar you use, so you will probably have more luck trying to dial in the sound yourself, rather than asking others. B)
  18. "Decomposed"? You will not harm the amp but note that the speakers in Spider IV combos or cabinets do not have a good low end frequency range. I have used a bass with my Spider IV 75, but only with the DI output, not through the speaker.
  19. Bringing it to an authorized service center will let them evaluate the problem, usual charge is around $75 for the evaluation.
  20. Sorry, I'm using Win7, but Podfarm installed in a seperate folder in a folder named Line 6 (in the x86 Program files) in my computer (it is the 64 bit version, but that must have been the default place).
  21. In Reaper, make sure you have your VST path pointed to the folder where the 64-bit PodFarm is located.
  22. Hopefully you have figured out your problem. No picture! What DAW are you using? The track that has been recorded shoudl not change after recording (assuming you 'disarm' it for recording when done). What is the noise - feedback? Do you have your new track (to be recorded) getting routed back into the UX2 and creating a loop?
  23. I think you would need to delete Podfarm completely from your computer and re-download and install it.
  24. I use the instrument input on my Tascam US-800 audio interface - but I am using PF 2.5 as a plug-in in Reaper, not sure if this would work with PF in stand-alone mode.
  25. I would agree that the FBV (assume you have a MK II - Express or SHortboard?) does feel a little 'cheap' compared to other pedals. I have a massive old Morley WAH/Volume that weighs a few pounds and is solid as a rock. Line 6 recommends using their Expression Pedal, I believe it is the EV-1. I use my Morley on the input side, and can use it as volume or wah, and use the pedal on my FBV Express Mk II as the other.
