Best Pc Soundcard ?
TheRealZap replied to fr2632's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
I just use the inputs he doesn't have plugged in and run a cable :D he never notices. -
I'm fairly certain that the real minimum requirement is that it has to be able to run ios7 the air should have no problem.

I Can't Get Updates With Line 6 Monkey
TheRealZap replied to rikiwin's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
you have a very old version of monkey... (yours is 1.33, latest is 1.65) i suggest updating.http://line6.com/getrelease?rid=5669 -
custom tone is a mixed bag... best to consider it a nice starting point... every once in a while you get lucky though... Glenn's patches are quality.

If the budget allows, i do think it's the better mic... but its kind of like buying a tv... when you see them all side by side.. there's always going to be differences... when you're at home watching it... its just a tv.... meaning you'll probably be happy with either one... i personally tend to try and get the best my funds will allow. :)

Best Pc Soundcard ?

Funny thing is that's the exact interface i use! when i have extra stuff to mic.... i use the pod on its own most of the time. -
Very nice mic! I would have gotten one myself if i could have stretched the budget that far.
-
low cost is all relative... but i'd look at an audio technica 2020, or an akg perception 120... a little upgrade from the common and low cost MXL options you'll surely see. (and they aren't terrible...)
-
interesting.... wonder how good it is?
-
It doesn't support pretty much anything that requires licensing to support, except via a workaround... the "ASIO" support is through ASIO4ALL which is not really ASIO support at all... its a workaround... it's free... its got that going on... haha sometimes thats all that matters.

Best Pc Soundcard ?

I'm not sure, I generally do my own groovin'! haha but its a free trial to check it out.... totally should give it a try... i think it will surprise you how easy it is to "get" -
Just a few posts like yours... that magically clear up when moved to a different environment... often times random reboots etc... rare posts mind you... but i have seen them.
-
i'd stay away from pro tools... only because of its steep learning curve and your stated level.... it is industry standard and undoubtedly a great product though. i would recommend mixcraft... free trial, and 75$ to buy if you like... and also reaper is a good option... 60$ and a free trial that never expires.. (honor system) many other great ones as you say... but these 2 offer the best experience at a bargain price... nearly any of the others start at 100$ for their "lite" or "crippled" version... but of these are full versions (there is a studio version of mixcraft which includes more plugins etc)

Hadn't notice the price jump! i bought my license long ago... reaper is good... but for a 15$ difference, i'd take mixcraft! of course i would have taken mixcraft even with the 35$ difference. :) it's the most garageband like DAW for windows... read: very easy for a beginner, and plenty of room to grow as you learn. -

In my experience the only thing good about audacity is the price.... i'd recommend mixcraft if you are willing to spend a few dollars (75$, they have a free trial) or reaper (40$, you can try it for free and it will work forever without a license.... honor system) you'll be much happier long term if you get away before you discover the limitations in audacity. (primarily from being open sourced... doesn't always play well with licensed technologies) -

Digital Audio Workstation (recording software) -
usually i find people on that version of the mac OSX have an older mac... with a PPC processor. all of the pod HD programs require an intel processor
-
you just need to set windows to use your built in sound card, and set your DAW (audacity... yuck) to use the UX1

No disable option (some wish there was) sounds like you have a hardware problem. you'll need to contact a service center.

Looks great!
